Has anyone else noticed an increase in high level confoundables last couple of days? I mean yesterday was a day of days for me! Lol. Getting McGonagall & seeing emergency Hagrid who fled but still...and then getting Newt again.
This morn within a 20min outing i finally got the last self playing harp to prestige my page again, got 2 thestrals which were at max, got the tank of brains again, the mountain troll, and then saw the sorting hat for first time!! But lost it! Nooooo! Then finally caught another unicorn. I was very chuffed with that little trip out was just on an errand & ive not even been out to do my proper pottering & the fortress yet!! 😀
Im also busy emptying portkey slots & savìng keys for part 2 of back to hogwarts, was very excited to open a portkey yesterday & be inside honeydukes!!! 😀
I've definitely noticed an increased encounter rate with what have typically been the more elusive foundables, @AuroraKadavra. At first I thought it might be because I've reached gold frames on five different registry pages now. It seemed like maybe the encounter rate went up in proportion with the fragment requirements but then I thought, "Naaaahh, that would make WAY too much sense!"
I suppose it'd be easier to identify trends within the game if I tracked every encounter, but that sounds like a lot of work, soooooooo... nope.
Totally jealous of your virtual trip to Honeydukes! I haven't managed to acquire a 10k portkey since they made that location available. I have a full rack of 8 (mostly 2k and a couple 5k) that are ready to open today. I'm debating on whether I should pick up more before part 2 of the Back to Hogwarts event begins. I could probably pick up another 8 and still clear at least a few slots before the event begins, but I think I'll just play it safe this time.

I think playing it safe with just a few days to go might be best, unless you know you could open a 10k in that time, you still will have your gold key then 3 silver, so can open event ones in a few days, a bit longer than the- what was it 1 1/2 days it took you to complete event last time! Lol. It does look fab so maybe worth a try.
I think maybe they are releasing more of the unusual ones to get us all totally hyped with the game & soooo ready for part two!!? Or is that just me! 😂😂
This seems to be an older thread, but thought I'd throw in my two cents on a trend I've been noticing. I've found that certain times throughout the day are more productive for catching foundables reliably than others. If I'm awake at six in the morning or able to hunt around three in the afternoon I can almost do no wrong with first or second casts. Wait an hour, and nearly every one slips away into the ether leaving me cursing like a sailor.
I'm still dreaming of the day I run across the whomping Willow, so congrats to those of you who have managed to capture those! And I giggle at the foe glass cat even though it slips away every time.
I keep telling you guys, you have to shout the spell as loud as you can to get it to work.
In this case take a deep breath and tell, "AUGAMENTI!" also try to do a little bit of a dance to make it even more powerful.
If you would like me to give you some feedback please have someone video you in a public place and send it to America's Funniest Videos so I can watch.

Then ran into Fawkes (and he wasn’t stubborn this time 😱 @ZookiTabooki ) I could hardly believe it. Felt like a random good luck day, but maybe rare threats were common today. Any notable returns for y’all?
@Herm10neG92 Ooooh you had to bring that up eh? 'The Chosen One' (wizard wifey) stopped telling me when she encounters Fawkes; see image and you can see why. Mrs. I-don't-have-a-red-dot-on-my-phone appears to be well loved by the Niantician Gods. Personally, I don't mind, a happy wife is a happy life. Grats on having a great day! As for notable returns, completed my first Forest 5 chamber recently and received a pair of Wizengamot Accusation Chair fragments. I also recently received Moody's Sneakoscope and Probity Probe fragments. Nothing of note from the map though, other than needing one more fragment each for Rowena and Godric.
So much yes @Herm10neG92!!! I actually caught a McGonagall last night RIGHT before going to sleep! I was soooo happy 😭I also caught another time turner, which just makes me so happy because my favorite HP anything is the time turner and the Marauder's map, so of course I love seeing them in game 😍
Great thread. I still have a few foundables I haven’t yet come across. Hopefully I’ll see them soon and they won’t disappear on the first sighting- also hope I have enough energy to catch them. I came across Newt once on a bus ride home, but no spell energy 😣 Still glad I saw him though. Next time, hopefully.

It’s been some really good days for hubby and me lately. It slowed down a little last week, and so I thought it was back to normal after day of dragons, but no! Last night, we both got Weasley’s car!💃💃 We’d both seen it once before, but it fled on me the first time. I had to work for it a little. Potent and four casts, but I got it! Hubby got on first cast of course, but then he was nervous watching me keep trying! Lol Today, I got young Hermione sitting at my desk, which is huge (my office was a total dead zone when the game started), and then hubby tells me he caught Newt at the lumber store! Yesterday, I got Firenze before work. Grawp and Fawkes aren’t quite as rare as they used to be... it’s been good hunting!

I know it's not high level but I finally saw Sirius for first time yesterday- previous was fortress fragments. And the pensieve- that was fab- i love the way the pixies are dancing in it! Lol
I love reading the updates to this thread...especially seeing that i'm not the only one that acts like an angry toddler every time a low/medium confoundable runs away after masterful casts lol
I happen to be one of the very few lucky players that lives in an area with a VERY high spawn rate for severe/emergencies. I see 4-5 per day during the week, and 7-10 per day on the weekend. This thread got me curious as to what my catch rates have been, so I just ran through them all.
Lowest catch rates:
Fawkes - 11/30 (some of these were me leaving since I already have the 11 needed to prestige and not wanting to waste a potion); Tank of Brains - 11/24 (again same as Fawkes); Quidditch Keeper Ron Weasley - 17/26; Grawp - 8/15
Highest catch rates:
Swooping Evil 9/10; Professor McGonnegal - 6/6; Sorting Hat - 5/5; Dumbledore - 7/8; The Veil - 10/10; Newt - 5/5; Unicorn - 11/12; Goblet of Fire - 8/9; Pensieve - 7/7; Weasley's Car - 7/8
My overall catch rate for severe/emergency is a whopping 72%!!!
There are some that I have hardly seen...only 1 Young Harry Potter, only 2 Buckbeak and only 3 Pickett (but luckily got 1 fragement from a Portkey). If anyone wants to come to North Carolina to hunt severe/emergency confoundables, I can play tour guide! LOL

Very jealous of that rate! Iv only seen swooping evil once- maaan that thing is creepy!!! The others i may have some fragments from fortresses like with sirius & pensieve etc, but ive never seen them so get very excited when I do.
It's always good to hear that other grown adults are as nuts as i am with this game & jump around whooping when i get an emergency & throw a tantrum screaming at my phone when things depart- regardless of where I am & who im with! Lol. Ive yet to throw myself down in the suprrmarket aisle & kick my legs in the air in tantrum- but i wont rule it out! 😂
i get some of my best rare, red or orange plumed traces right outside the local fortress where cell signal sucks most. the fortress has eaten runestones unnumbered (hence my nicknaming it the battle of unnumbered tears) but sometimes i get as a consolation rarities like percival graves and my one and only young hermione, waiting for me outside the fortress
tip: open the trace but do not cast spell yet; tap potions button but do not pick/use potion yet - this sort of keeps the trace encounter in a temporary holding pattern; now move to somewhere nearby with better cell reception; then choose potion (or not) and return to trace encounter and cast your first spell; this somewhat reduces the chance that you lose out on the rare encounter from cell network signal glitching
@kiheikid nice tip. Thanks. I do something similar with a fortress that has a somewhat spotty connection. But I’ll definitely try what you’ve mentioned with the rare foundables whenever I’m in an area with a somewhat unpredictable connection and hopefully I won’t lose any more potions because of the app getting stuck then restarting.
went to walmart yesterday to buy cheap clock - no exciting foundable
went to walmart today to exchange the cheap clock from yesterday because it wasn’t working - swooping evil fragment #2 ... no time to be cheap (not talking about clocks any more), whipped out the dawdle + potent exstimulo ... would have been crushed if this one had disintegrated
very expensive (potent exstimulo + dawdle draught) but worth it ...
i would much rather save my potent exstimulo potions for the very rare foundable fragments like percy than be forced to use 5 of them in a short timespan (upcoming task 4 in oct 2019 brilliant fighting forces event week 2) even if no exciting foundables traces are around (in which case they will be used in high level fortress chambers that are more costly and more risky and less rewarding (to me) than saving them for rare foundable encounters in the wild)
If you're worried about "wasting" potents, which is valid because of the cost of brewing, use them in a higher fortress chamber. At least you'll earn something back for their use. Usually with potion use for a task, it doesn't specify how to use it, just as long as you do. So it's up to you how you would prefer to complete the task. I like that little bit of flexibility when we can get it!

It took me a while to come up with my flighty foundable! Most of them I’d say are fairly typical. Except this one....
I always have to work for it, and even if I do use potions, it will flee just like that. This one vexes me greatly!
