So Tired of "Waiting for Approval"
I completely understand WHY this is in place. In fact, I very much support it. But come on. It's like every other post I send is "Waiting for Approval."
My post could literally be: "Hey! Yeah. That happened to me too! I did X, Y, and Z to solve it."
Awaiting Approval
Come on! This is seriously ridiculous. By the time it's approved, the response is out of context AND it doesn't trigger a notification to the responded.

Aaannnndddd... just got another one.... for a post rooting on my friends and allies going to the event.
I'm seriously about done with this.
Well... at least that post was approved.
@Craeft I just got this too for a post that was totally fine to post the first time. I went back in to edit a typo. Literally just added an ellipses. Apparently that triggered the wait for approval. Naughty little ellipses!
The forum issues are starting to drive me a little nuts to say the least.
@Herm10neG92 - Yeah. They're driving me insane. To be fair, I LOVE that the mods are taking that extra step to make sure the forums are friendly and not hate-riddled (as many forums are)... but I think they overswung the pendulum. There's a fine and difficult balance to be had. But even with that said, if warnings are issued, they at least DO go back and look at them and decide (as a human) whether it was valid or not. The problem though is that by the time that happens, it's already out of context.
PS: Ellipses are your friend.
Apparently, my response to the fact that someone actually FLAGGED my original post is waiting for approval. See what I mean?
Yes it’s all quite silly. I understand flagging the use of certain words or aggressive comments, but come on now. Please be reasonable and don’t flag every other post for no discernible reason.
Cultural differences. It's unlike @Craeft to swear but a word used is considered swearing in my country.
Just an interesting observation. Now go back to what you were all doing.
Understood, @WerewolfChaser - But that should be taken into account.
And in addition, what in my original post of this thread is a curse word in any culture? I ask because it was reported for "abuse".
EDIT ADD: What word is considered a swear in your country (so I know going forward - that and I love cultural differences)? Don't type the word fully, but is there a way to let me know without making it blatant?
I can't tell if they're using Akismet, Disqus, or just the built in controls for moderation. Maybe a combination of all three. I think, since you post and comment quite a bit, you're triggering flood control.
Flood control lets you limit how many discussions, comments, private messages, and replies to private messages that a user can create within a time period. They probably just have the threshold set way too low, and need to back off a bit. It annoys me because I could have all the issues with this forum sorted out in seconds. I understand these minor tweaks probably aren't super high in priority compared to other stuff going on with the game and events, but still.
Anyway, here's the documentation for some light reading:
@Craeft I'm not sure about your original post. The word I noticed and laughed about was a word starting with r and you meant it as cheering.
I didn't take it as offensive but saw your meaning.
It was just a curious observation.
If you need a laugh go ahead and google the word and Australia. You'll get a giggle.
I think its also NZ and UK.
English is such a strange language!
Pretty sure they're not using Disqus. Disqus has a weird authentication process that I didn't see or go through.
The problem with the rest of your comment, @Acumen, is that... then why encourage interaction? I am very present here on the forums because, frankly, I love you guys. I want to see this game succeed. But the moderation and demand for approval seems partially random but mostly fascist. Literally 99.99999.....% of the posts I've made that have been "awaiting approval" have been innocuous. There is literally absolutely no logic behind it. It's beyond frustrating at this point. It has reached near infuriating.
LOL @WerewolfChaser - I honestly still have no idea what word to which you're referring. hahaha...
@Craeft It's on the first comment cheering for those going to Indianapolis.
@WerewolfChaser - Can you link me to that thread?
I assure you I'm not trying to be a ****. I really don't know which thread because I've cheered them all on in a few.
[Sigh] I used the word j3rk so I think that is why my response, @WerewolfChaser , is now under review.
COME ON!!!! Standby for it to be approved. - Again.
I'm just gonna start making all my posts in 1337 5P34K!
I agree, man. My comment wasn't intended to blame you at all, so sorry if it came across like that. I honestly just think they haven't tweaked with a lot of the default settings on this forum because it isn't a priority. The mods are providing the answers they're supposed to about keeping the community safe and all, but what's really going on is none of the fine-tuning needed to make this forum run smoothly has been done. None of the plugins needed to provide users the basic functionality they've come to know as standard in any forum have been installed yet. Nobody is looking at how spam settings are messing with relevant community interaction and saying, "Oh, I should dial these settings back a bit." The moderators are cool. I dig that they're kind, professional, and responsive. What we really need right now though is for someone with administrative rights to spend just a few minutes implementing the optimizations we've asked for.
Um, that word is not offensive to anyone, surely.
This is where I may run into trouble, this misunderstanding of words between English speakers.
Then throw other languages into the mix...
Maybe we need an official list of what we can't say.
@Acumen - Not at all! I didn't feel like you were blaming me or accusing me of anything! Hopefully, my other comment will be approved and I won't get another warning I have to appeal. LOL
@WerewolfChaser - They will NEVER give an official list like that. NO company will. While I think they should, I also understand why they don't. There are ways around lists.
F0r 3x4mpL3...
Also, @Acumen - To the rest of your post (sorry, I just reread it)... Absolutely. We need mods who are on action to agree/disagree with the algorithm. We need PEOPLE in charge of moderation.
And hey, Wizards Unite - I have experience moderating forums and would LOVE to get out of my retail gig. Just a... ya know... side note.
Okay cool, @Craeft. Just making sure I didn't offend. As we all know, that's the problem with text-based conversations. Stuff doesn't come across as intended sometimes.
The pen is mightier than the sword.
The space after pen is important. 😁
But yeah, we definitely need a list of words @WerewolfChaser.
For example, my name outside of this forum is Richard, but what would happen if instead I said my name is Dick?
Let's try it now. Mostly for testing purposes, but also because it's funny. Hi, I'm Dick, nice to meet you.
LoL, I just conducted a small test and got flagged for approval. Test successful, I guess? I'm going to bed.
ROFL @Acumen - I gotta ask, man... what was the test? LOL
Well, I introduced myself as Richard, then went further by introducing myself as the nickname people sometimes use for Richard. I kinda figured it'd trigger the spam filter, but had to be sure... for science.
Science is important.
The filters in these forums are a phuking joke!
See what I did there?
Still really confused, however, on why my original post on this thread was flagged for abuse. 🤔
I have a feeling I know who flagged it (because they're immature and consistently argumentative)... but I'm gonna let that go.
@Craeft I am familiar with ways around the list. I'm more concerned that I'll accidentally use a word on it without realising I've used a bad word with cultural difference stuff.
There's a phrase that's common here that would be offensive probably to everyone. It's the ethos of my life however. Given my background it's just what I do.
I'm "keeping the [email protected]@rds honest".
If you google that phrase and add quote you'll see that it's a quote from a famous political leader here. We have 2 large parties and he was head of a 3rd smaller one. Their motto was his quote to keep the 2 big players honest.
So that b word has become common vernacular in Australia due to Don Chipp and his motto.
@WerewolfChaser - My career is in politics. In that, I research external politics. I'm with ya. hehehe
