My phone cant install through google play but installing the apk independently it does work. Might work for you too

I just tried, it did not work.
I turned Battery Saver on. It automatically turned AR+ off for me and allows me to still get the Portkeys. As soon as I open a Portkey, it's opened for me and all I do is move my phone forward a few inches and I'm good to go. Also make sure you have "downloaded all assets"
Would be good as there are quite a few phones that don't even have the AR+ option so portkeys just don't work for us :(

I found a setting to turn AR+ off completely in the app. If you go to the suitcase and then settings (top left corner), down under Camera there's a slider to turn it off and on. Do your phones not have that? This turned off the AR completely for me, including the portkey. I managed to unlock one and even in my spacious living room it kept putting the danged portal ON my couch until I found that setting.

no, i dont have this option
The AR used for portkeys gives me motion sickness, so I can't do them either for that reason. I've not had this problem other AR games and actual VR, somehow they've done something pretty wrong here, its either lag or weird AR camera settings, likely both.
If you have a PS4 or XBOX controller, you should be able to use that if there is no IMU in your mobile
