@Dogoutlaw - Absolutely! It took 2 potions and 15 energy for the first fragment. Multiple masterful and great casts. it was a low "good" cast that finally got the stupid thing.
@Craeft I used strong exstimulos on the two I needed for the task. At the moment, I refuse to dump all my potions on the things, but then the SE just for it to flee instead of being caught. grrrr It's more persnickety than the brilliant unicorn, and I didn't think that was possible. Doesn't help that flipendo is probably my second worse spell.
@Dogoutlaw yah on getting your phone back in working order. I was gonna suggest rice like Julie too. Third world solutions to first world problems!
@Overflow4487 the last part of the brilliant event requires you to brew 6 potions (after the second part has already made you brew 3) so you should be all stocked back up for the fanfest again (so jealous) And the last part of the event just says win 10 wizarding challenges, so do some where you won’t need potions and you are good! It should be easy enough to get to the last part after you’ve waded through the brilliant students again to get at the two sorting hat fragments.
@Craeft and dogoutlaw, ummm I got the 2 sorting hat fragments without potions and with a masterful cast? 😇🤷♀️
Haven’t seen anymore sorting hats though but that is most definitely because I’m back home where it’s a foundable dead zone. I stayed out until after midnight to grind at the events.
@LeFayeofAlbion wow! I did manage to catch one on first cast, so I'm up to 3 fragments out of 8 encounters... I've adopted the three casts and out strategy to avoid wasting SE. I know there'll be more encounters over the next 7 days, so I'm not worried about getting done.
And more potions?! I didn't worry about brew potions tasks this time, so had a baruffios and potent exst in the cauldron queue when i hit the brew 3 task. It will be done when I wake in the morning, so that's fine. But dang, I guess I'll have to mind my queue for the brew 6 task.
@Dogoutlaw yup brew 6 potions and open 4 portmanteaus. (Side note: can someone please confirm if the portkey location is Hogwarts express again? I’m freaking out! I know I cleared out my portmanteau deck before, but what if old brilliant portmanteaus were lying around waiting to be picked up?! Obviously I’ll know when I collect the rewards but I’m waiting for them all to open and then it’s Baruffio’s time.)
oh and @Overflow4487 I was wrong. It’s not win 10 wizarding challenges, it’s only ‘defeat 10 foes in wizarding challenges.’ So. Easier and your potions will be safe for fanfest.

I had a hiccup. I got rank 10 on Professor and I couldn’t resist...so I went for a solo on Forest 1 and used some of my potions. I just had to know that I could do it, haha!!

Finished all tasks at 5PM EST, caught 30 brilliant sorting hat as of now. Just saw the email regarding global challenge of collecting dragon eggs, not sure if all efforts should be dedicated to Chinese fireball eggs for unlocking +25% wizard XP rewards in this weekend??
Nice going on the Forest Chamber @Overflow4487! I had a decent night. I'm on task 4 of Back to Hogwarts Part 2. Haven't done any of the fortress challenges yet, because I figure there's no reason to rush. I've got potions with long brew times on tap, so those will take until tomorrow afternoon to finish as well. Plus, I still need to unlock 2 more portkeys. That'll all be easy to get done by tomorrow evening. I got distracted for a bit a dusk with the rare appearance of Horned Serpents! I've only seen them one other time, so far. Same conditions as last time. It was much cooler than it has been, and cloudy. The in-app weather in HPWU said partly cloudy, but apparently it said it was raining in PoGo according to a friend. I managed to find 3 of them and now I have a total of 5. That's not much, but at least there's hope I'll be able to prestige that page eventually.

And that sorting hat! Seriously!! I found that after the first 2 taking about 20 energy, that the best approach was to deliberately do a 'fair' cast first, and then another, or a good cast & i got all 12 just walking twice around the block within about 15min! So not being so great at casting was the key! It may just have been how it worked out coincidentally but honestly, im still finding if i do a great cast first, it takes loads of energy to get it!
Im on the defeat 10 foes in wizard challenge part next, going to fortress any minute now... (like our badges) 😂
Ive got 5 brilliant portkeys open to use when baruffio is going, havent seen inside yet so im looking forward to that.
Managed to get the First Strike skill with my green books so im looking forward to trying that out too. Oooh its all very exciting!! This game honestly turns me into a big kid! Lol 😀
@Craeft how would you feel about being our thespian school ghost? 😆I mainly say ghost because I feel like in HP they were the more theatrical characters, in a very good way of course.

And i used 3 of my runes @JulieJubz to get the boat & the about 8 more just messin about in tower- so if that turns out to be á terrible idea then I'm blaming you! 😂 lol... kidding! It was fun using them 😀
@AuroraKadavra - I actually auditioned for the Broadway production of Ave. Q. hehe... Got called back... that's about the closest I got to seeing a Broadway stage.
Anyway, regarding this Brilliant event. I can't wait for it to be over (or at least get all the sorting hat fragments). I despise that chapeau!!
