Well done @Acumen !! Wow that was quick!!

Iv just one more 3k portkey to open for the luggage & 2 high level confoundables for the special tasks then im done.

I've found this 1 a lot easier to complete than the last one- apart from the portkey mix up lol !! Took a while to get the hang of catching them on a moving train but loved the new surroundings & idea.

Got loads of scrolls too so that i can nearly comple my profession tree. All goin really well at min & im defo looking forward to next part 😊

Thankfully I did get the correct portmanteaus and I cleared the first 3 portkey requirements and started picking up new portmanteaus. Unfortunately, the next two I grabbed were one event, one not. I just hope I can clear using the gold key before running out of silver keys. I'm really glad I was able to read about the new scene and know to catch the wrackspurts

You’ll make it, @MizSeeker! Even if you pick up a couple more Brilliant portmanteaus but can’t unlock them before the event is over, you’ll still be awarded the trolley image fragments. That takes a bit of the pressure off.

Helllooooo everyone again! 😀 so with part 2 of Back to Hogwarts around the corner, ive done the same, stocking up on potions for higher threats, emptying portkey slots, saving keys- only got 1 silver tho so I'll be glad of the 3 we get on Wed!

But, what I'm unsure of- and I'm sure I'm showing my complete ignorance here- but i have 18 back to hogwarts runes in my vault! Presuming we'll get more in part 2 as we place things in registry- so should i be using up a few now to up my level on the event before week 2? Or save them to use all in week 2? Not sure quite what is best- i don't want to end up with a surplus & i could be unlocking more scrolls? What are u guys doing with runes & do you have as many or did i mess up wk 1 lol?

    @Craeft @Acumen @Herm10neG92 @JulieJubz @Osprey1 @ZookiTabooki @Dogoutlaw @WerewolfChaser @Overflow4487 & others who always help me out 😊 what are you guys doing?

I think it's better to hold on to the runestones for now, @AuroraKadavra. You'll probably have more than enough to get you through any fragment requirements considering you'll probably gather several more stones during part 2, but it's better to err on the side of caution. I still have 15 Back to Hogwarts stones in my inventory that I haven't touched. Unlike the Brilliant portkeys, the runestones from part one of an event still work during part 2 for gathering the new fragments.

This is true @Acumen , very true- i will take your sound advice & hold onto those runes to play it safe. Then i can go nuts next week!! Yay! Lol

@AuroraKadavra - I haven't really been able to play much for a while. @Acumen sounds on point, though.

Agreed! I’m not touching my 13 left from pt 1, just in case of a finicky fortress fragment in pt 2. Better safe than sorry. You’ll still get the scrolls, I don’t know that it matters whether it’s before the pt 2 event.

@AuroraKadavra I have an excess from all three events and I'm gonna hang on to them. Who knows down the road, maybe we'll be able to trade them, help someone complete their frame, I don't know. I'm not hurting for scrolls, already started training a magizoo (Gr.4) so just gonna hang on to them for now and see what happens.

As I used mine up I said to myself, "I really should be saving these just in case."

Then I lost an oddity runestone in a poorly executed challenge so I'm okay.

i switched my cauldron over to all 2 hour exstimulo potions. everytime one came ready i threw it at the next brilliant student i saw.

while the event is ongoing i prioritized going after all the event traces first, and not touching any other trace until they were all done unless:

-an emergency or severe threat trace showed up

    -any oddity trace showed up.

i put both oddities and emergency/severe threat traces ahead of the event traces, but otherwise went exclusively for event traces. if spell energy, spawn and time to play allowed for other traces after the event ones then fine, but if not that was fine too.

i think that did me pretty well for the first half of the event, and intend to do the same thing for the second half of the event. upon reflection have no desire to change my strategy as it seems to have worked out as well as i wanted it to.

    good luck!

Thanks guys, good advice, i think they would even open dcrolls after the event if ive any left and im glad it sounds like you all hav about same as me so i feel better now.

@Digitalis that was my strategy too & it worked really well, so il continue that way also. My daughter played for me when i was driving & said-'just checking- its stick to purples & inns, and any high levels do them first b4 purples?' I said yep- that's the program.

Good luck with next part everyone- i hope that train window has gone! Lol

@AuroraKadavra This second part will be tricky for me. Due to me going to FanFest in Friday, I’m going to want to get the entire event completed by Thursday night. I also need to try and retain as many potions as possible since I will need them for FanFest as well.

As everyone else mentioned, I’m not touching my Runestone until the event begins in case I have a hard to get challenge reward. Going into it, I will keep lower timed potions (2 hours) and hopefully save up a bunch of shorter distance portkeys to have ones that will be easy to open.

@Overflow4487 yeah, the indiana event is gonna make it a crunch. work obligations are keeping us here in western iowa until saturday afternoon, then drive overnight for early access ticket to sunday event.

my cauldron is currently running 8 hour exstimulo potions, and i dont see that changing. i want to have those for the ticketed event day. after reflecting on the timing involved i think this is a better approach.

if i do not get the brilliant event completed before the ticketed event then so be it, but that seems unlikely.

i would love to be running 2 hour blue potions in the cauldron for the brilliant event, but i really think 8 hour blues for ticketed event is a more worthwhile investment.

@AuroraKadavra During the first 2 part event, I accidentally made things harder on myself because I used up all my event runestones. But I was able to get enough stones to complete the second part, it was just a little harder.

BUT! There's a really big difference between this event, and the first two part one we had (Harry's birthday one). During the second part of that event, we still had to catch the snitch and Harry, which were from the first part of the event, and I found that REALLY boring, and thus wasn't as motivated to grab anymore than I absolutely had to.

But the back to school one has completely different things to catch during the second part, so in all honesty, even if I had spent all my event runes again and were left with zero, I would feel absolutely confident that I would get enough of them back to complete the second part of the event :)

That being said: I currently have 19 event runestones, haha. It's not because I was afraid of using them up, but rather because I want to hoard more stones xD!! I do the daily challenges and I try to fight in the fortress at least 5x each time. But that was getting a little dangerous because this one time I dropped to really low rune numbers.

So I know everyone seem to be on the caution side of things (and honestly I thing that's a good tactic, lol) but sometimes it's nice to live dangerously!! 😂

@Overflow4487 & @Digitalis sooooo jealous of u going to the event!! You'll see the dragons first!! Dont forget to come on here & start a thread about it so we can hear how awesome everything is & what a fab time you're having!! Lol 😝

@JulieJubz good advice, i think cos its so close now i can resist temptation lol, and it means i can enjoy wk2 even more! I usually do 4 sessions in fortress & 2 or 3 portkeys a day with my baruffio, but im gonna start experimenting a bit more in other ruins cos ive still not got ANY on the magical devices page. Im obv in the wrong places. Been do a lot of lvl 7 & 8 but its time to head back to lower levels for some books too, cos i can still get prob same xp over the time as il see them off in no time at all lol.

Very excited for tomorrow 7pm again here in uk, glad its still light til 9pm. Happy hunting today guys, maybe itl b a McGonagall day! 😀

@AuroraKadavra Thanks!! I will try and come give as much info as possible. I have a busy weekend scheduled out, but won’t post that here so I don’t derange the current convo.

I’m working to 4:30 right now instead of 3:30...so that extra hour stuck at work when I can’t play are going to **** me! Lol!!

Btw, I haven’t gotten any magical devices either. The only one I got was from a Portkey I think.

@JulieJubz considering part 2 of this brilliant event only has the sorting hat as the foundable found in the wild, I suspect we’ll be seeing the brilliant students again. Not sure how I feel about that. Thought atleast the Thestral would be a wild foundable, but then again, my source could be wrong.

Less than an hour to go! Cauldrons boiling away and keys turning! Wands at the ready folks! We gotta get these kids to school!

I'm sad. I dropped my phone in the dogs' water dish this morning...😖 So now I have it turned off completely hoping it will dry out OK. So now I won't be able to start the event at lunch time like I usually do. First world problems, I know...

@Dogoutlaw - If you have a hair dryer, you can always turn it on low and aim it at the phone to help expedite drying... but not too close to the phone or it'll get hot and well... bad things occur.

I take it your phone's not water resistant?

@Craeft that's a great idea, wish I had thought of that while home. At the moment (at work), I'm trying to get it some warmth without over-heating, and ventilation.

I don't know where you work, but if you have a computer, you can set it in the airstream of the exhaust fan, @Dogoutlaw

@Craeft construction project office. No PC fan, have a laptop, although another great idea. I have it in a partial sun/shade window sill with window open. Thankfully there's a nice breeze today. I check on it every few minutes.

Oh and it may be a little resistant, since it was still playing music when I grabbed it back out of the water. But the music was muffled, so I know water got into those little holes.

Wishing you the best of luck with it! If you have it in the sun with a slight breeze, you should be alright. :)

Your timing is horrible though. hehe
