XXX/142 Profession Points
We are limited by green books that goes without saying but is there a limit on what we can spend with scrolls and red books? Am at 137/142 (which I do not even know what that means) so worried if I get a few more done I won't be able to upgrade. Also worried with the next green book event I can't spend them if I get more upgrades. Anyone reach 142/142 or be told you can't learn anymore yet? Seems strange I can earn books, just not spend them.

The way I see it you have two options...
I am on 137/137 as an Auror. Still lots of lessons to be done. I'm level 12 in my training at 213/900. (Beta player)
91/134 Professor and the struggle is real... Level 23 and I'm pretty much at the point where it takes 20+ scrolls or I need restricted books and most call for 15 for 1 upgrade(an entire events worth). That being said over the long haul I believe it'll be worth it and if nothing else it'll make knocking out the other trees seem like a breeze lol
@CytopeAchen Wow! I'm lvl 26 and I'm 91/134 Professor as well. The struggle is definitely real at this point.
I'm thinking I'm higher lvl than you at the same Profession Rank because I use Brain Elixirs ALL THE TIME. 🤓

It seems the 137 out of 142 is not my total, but a number indicating how many points I can reach, not how many I have. I do not understand its value. It does not mean I have 5 left, it just means the points I cant add yet I do not directly touch those points on the skill grid. Something like that.
I thought that was points until your profession level goes up?
I just want to bump this discussion because I've searched for a long time and can't find an answer. What do the numbers mean? If I get to 134/134 does that mean that I will not be able to put more points in Professor? This is potentially very bad. For example if you use all your points before you max out the hex spell as a professor.
No, that number signifies how many lessons you have mastered and how many total lessons you can master out of the open lessons you have. That number will change as you apply scrolls and books to more lessons. I hope that makes sense. LOL
134 is in reference to the skills you have to unlock for that lesson, including their individual levels. Once you complete 134 you will have mastered Principles of Professorship. Theoretically you can max out all 3 classes so no worries on running out of anything. However, that would take a long time and hopefully additional lessons will be added before anyone reaches this point so we can continue upgrading our chosen class.
There was another thread where we think we figured out these numbers. So if you’re curious... the /xxx (/134 for professor) is how many lessons there are on the lesson plan, including the levels within each lesson. Just as @CytopeAchen says. The first number is how many lessons (including the levels) you’ve UNLOCKED. Not necessarily completed. That’s how mine is... and yes, I counted! In your achievements, you can can find how many lessons you’ve completed, and that number probably is less than how many you’ve unlocked, until you’ve learned the entire lesson plan. Hope that makes sense.
@CytopeAchen is correct. I wasn't. LOL
I responded with what the numbers meant, but apparently it’s waiting for approval...
Yep, what @Dogoutlaw and @CytopeAchen said. A simpler way to wrap your head around it is the total number of lessons including all modules within each lesson is the number on the right. Add up the total number of modules for each lesson that still has a lock symbol on it, subtract that from the number on the right, and you get the number on the left. I am a professor, currently sitting at 122/134. So 122 lessons have been unlocked but not necessarily completed or even started. The number of lessons I’ve actually mastered (shown in achievements) is 89. Can’t wait for more restricted books. Also I’ve been spamming the heck out of my mending charm during challenges to reach the gold level strategic spell achievement and get those 15 spell books!
i am at 135 of 137 auror and there are a lot more then 2 lessons left to master.
the theory that the number on the right is the total number of lessons is not correct.
edit - i can still learn 22 more lessons without counting ones that take restricted books, just the ones that take regular books and scrolls.
@Acumen good point about the charm!! Since I tend to solo, I’ve barely touched it. Guess I’m gonna start using it on myself more often!
@Digitalis I don’t think you’re understanding what we’re saying. Under achievements, how many lessons does it say you’ve completed?
@Dogoutlaw
i am in the gold level of auror lessons completed under achievements: 104 completed.
in my profession menu, at the top it says i have 135/137 next to 'auror fundamentals'
i can still do 22 more skills, not counting hexes or skills that require restricted books. what is holding me back is regular spellbooks, i have plenty of scrolls piling up.
everytime i learn a new skill on the skill tree it gives me a point at the top where it now says 135/137 next to auror fundamentals, so when i get enough regular spellbooks for two more skills to learn i will be at 137/137, but have plenty of skills left to learn yet (20, to be exact)
i am a level 9 profession level auror, level 34 profile level wizard.
i am thinking that when i hit 137/137 it will credit the 'auror lesson plans completed' achievement, so will post back here if it does when that happens. i dont think i have enough runestones to get enough regular spellbooks to make it on hand, but i might. have been overdue to get back into fortress battles, been pretty much just doing the one a day while the harry event was going.
That's pretty weird @Digitalis , but I believe you. Seems like buggy behavior, which certainly hasn't been uncommon. As a professor, I can't speak for the other professions. Mine is accurate though. The number on the right is the total number of modules within each lesson on the entire tree, which is 134. If I subtract the number of modules within each lesson that still has a lock symbol on it, I get 122, and that's exactly what I have is 122/134. So, of all the lessons on your skill tree that still have a lock symbol on them, what is the total number of modules contained within each of those?
@Acumen
just one - 'confusion hex repetitions' is the only skill i have with a lock on it.
i have opened and advanced every skill that requires only scrolls, only things i have left to do are skills that require either regular or restricted books.
and i am checking those off pretty quickly...
every possible skill which is only scrolls is done.
it occurs to me that the single locked skill has two levels to it. willing to bet if i unlocked it, it would give me 137/137.
Exactly @Digitalis You have two yet to unlock, which is why it says 135/137. That’s how many skills you’ve unlocked, not necessarily completed. If your achievements says you’ve completed 104 lessons, that should mean you have 33 lessons to complete left. Counting all the levels within lessons you’ve not done yet, etc. Does that help?
@Dogoutlaw yep, that clears it up.
thanks, and thanks @Acumen for helping me wrap my head around it.
i didnt realize the numbers were just locked skills. been spending mostly all my time on the ground playing and very little researching.
I feel like that number is misleading! Most people think that’s how many lessons are completed out of the total. And why does it even keep track like that? Who cares how many I’ve unlocked? I just want to know how many I’ve done vs total available. But maybe that’s just me...
