Looking for suggestions to 'move on'

So I am done with the game for good now given the recent 'fixes'. Not even worth it to complain or suggest anything as nobody cares and seems like none of the community managers actually play the game themselves or have a local community to understand the player base.
So moving on to positive ideas, looking for suggestions on alternatives to give me and possibly many others, their regular fix of the wizarding world!
- Not keen on something like Hogwarts mystery given that I don't want year(s) wasted on building a character, etc.
- One of the options I am considering is the EA sports games for PC which were released alongside the movies. I thoroughly enjoyed the first couple of parts while growing up!
- There's a candy crush style puzzle game coming up, but not a fan of that format.

They are trying to get people to quit, so that more people want to play Catan, when it comes out... but they don't seem to realize that people are starting to see the pattern of buggy patches and horrible customer support that Niantic is so well known for, now.
Catan Universe has been around for a while and seems like people can join across multiple platforms.
I guess I can give it a try, and repurpose the discord server my small wizarding community had for coordinating fortress runs. Nothing HP related here though, so it could be a different set of friends who have to be brought together.

the witcher go game's coming abt if its any good and i like it im gone from wu and all niantic games current and future.
The witcher went in pre release in New Zealand a few days ago, so it won't take ages for a global release. And it looks just like gameplay is similar to hpwu...
why is everyone going to nz for beta for heavens sake! come to europe! lol and yeah but cd project red are infinitely better w their players than wb/nia
@Pamdm think they meant the Catan World explorers, an AR game that is in beta, the reddit for the game has a discord already set up

What the pandemic has shown me is that AR and playing mobile games outdoors can be avoided. So I am fine with the non AR ones out there also as long as I can find friends to play with.
More importantly, it's from Niantic...so no way I am investing time here! Fool me once, shame on you....fool me twice, shame on me!!
Oh **** I didn’t realize that Catan was from Niantic. I won’t support any more of their games if this is how they treat their customer base.
Yes....so looking for "non-Niantic" and preferably Harry Potter themed alternatives, so that possibly I can enjoy playing with the same bunch of people I met along the way in WU.
there is none and you're blaming the wrong company, niantic isnt involved in HPWU dev. that's WB games division and portkey games, niantic gave them the pois network database and that's that. Everything else you need to go to WB/WB games division who also own the Harry Potter IP rights.
That's an interesting point. POIs going live super fast in Pogo lately and not happening at all in WU, clearly demonstrating how it's mainly portkey / WB dropping the ball here! Another way of looking at it is player base steadily being active vs dying out in the case of WU.
Catan Universe installed!
Skipping this wizarding weekend - first event since beginning of game that I will miss.
Will be actively playing again once WB gets its act together! Suggest others to avoid the frustration as well :)
The alternative to stopping may be just to refuse to pay for anything.
It would be a shame if Niantic really aren’t behind this as it’ll damage their reputation I’m sure - they seem to be sufficiently close to the problem that I shan’t be playing any of their games, possibly unless they pick up a Star Wars or Lord of the Rings franchise. (If anyone knows of AR versions of either of those please do comment!).

Catan is pretty awesome! Played Catan Universe on mobile all day yesterday. For the first time forgot to collect daily TC recharge in WU and daily Pogo rewards because I was too engrossed in Catan.
Moving on going quite well :)
