The Staff of HPWU needs to work better on their communication regarding in-game features
When you promise one thing but you provide another thing, players become upset.
When you tell players that Tonics for Trace Detection Potions will brew in half the time, but they do not, players become upset. This is particularly true when players have invested time and in-game resources on that promise.
When you tell players that upgrading Trace Charm Proficiency will provide them with more Foundable Fragments in an in-game description, and then you tell them that upgrading Trace Charm Proficiency will not perform that function, players get upset. This is particularly true when players have invested time and in-game resources on that promise.
When the Trace Charm has a major bug that benefits players, but you do not discuss the bug as a known issue, and then you fix the bug only after players have gotten used to the bug and are playing in a way that assumes this bug was intended behavior, players get upset. This is particularly true when players have invested time and in-game resources on what we assumed was the intended in-game behavior.
Every time you promise one thing, and you deliver something else, players get upset.
Please stop upsetting players. Please communicate accurately. If you promise one thing, and then take it away later, you will upset more and more players.

I couldn't have said it better. I totally agree with what you say. I already lost interest in continue playing. I was looking forward to this weekend and I don't think I'll play anymore. Very disappointed with Niantic.
I just can’t understand why it took them so long to tell us the trace charm wasn’t working as intended. It’s been out months.
Cause, by the looks of it, the only person who knows how the trace charm should work, is still on holiday/left...
It looks like the description of proficiency was correct but both proficiency and efficiency were bugged.
And since nobody had any clue, let alone talk to each other... Someone poor clueless soul decided one thing, and someone else fixed the other. Resulting in this dumpster fire...
Exactly, thank you. I was very excited to play this weekend, but now I plan to do the minimum. It felt *right* that we were moving to game play where extra skills, like Trace Charm, meant bypassing what becomes drudgery after a while of not being able to Prestige because you only see certain fragments once in a blue moon. Someone seriously dropped the ball.

This feels like the last straw. I’ve lost the fun and joy I felt playing this game which got turbocharged when SOS training first came out. But each successive Niantic misstep ( reagardless of the reason/excuse) feels like a Dementor consuming my/our happiness. Each Trace Charm fiasco has been like a bolt of darkness. With this latest trace charm clarification I now feel the SOS manual requirements are way too steep and out of reach. Don’t feel excited or motivated to play. Want a time turner....to change Niantic!
Glad to see I'm not the only one with these sentiments. How many times have they had the opportunity to come clean but only did a deeper hole.
@d40ppatt From what I can gather, ignoring the issue and censorship seem to be preferable. After all, history shows us how well that works out, too!
Well, I just read this by chance. I stopped playing the game three months ago and still I'm still not missing the lagging entrance into fortresses and others annoying bugs.
lag's been fixed, actually fixed.
I couldn't agree more! But you forgot the 'complete the SOS training to get more trace charm drops in treasure trunks but never actually see any'. I know it's random but I'm frustrated that they've added something that can't really be used properly.
I don’t know about you all but I couldn’t consciously absorb the lies. It became too much, and I can’t live with it. Communication is the most essential thing in this world, when you say one thing yet do another, well...
I simply deleted the apps from my devices, I’m watching the debate but I won’t invest time in the games. And a stupid Dragon event is adding insult to injury!
i loved playing the game, and the SoS tree amped up my game time and had me out walking in the crazy heat here in Florida, searching for severe spawn. Yes the trace charm was overpowered, but man was it fun to see the severe traces ping up on my screen!
if they had acted properly and been open with us, I would have swallowed the bitter pill and maybe adjusted to it, however that did not happen. What we received were lies and so much lawyereese that it was mind spinning.
they left me with no choice but to walk away..
ok.. had to edit.. since when is s w o l l o w a bad word! Why was it ***** out?
This most recent "bug fix" completely obliterated my interest in this game. I was barely interested in the event this weekend beforehand as none of the foundables featured can help me prestige further but that's a personal issue. My phone runs on Android 10 and I still can't use animated effects on my profile image because it simply becomes a black void. <This is a bug yet has persisted for close to a year. But instead of devoting development resources to a minor yet unpleasant/inconveniencing bug effort was put toward "fixing" something which wasn't even perceived by the player base as broken. I'm not going to sit here and argue trace charm as it functioned wasn't overpowered. But every communication attempt released in no way informed players that it would be changed in the way it did. Heck we were told proficiency was behaving as intended but the text was wrong despite the frustration that incurred and yet THEY STILL HAVEN'T UPDATED THE TEXT. Beyond language localization, which admittedly can be a challenge, textual changes would be the simplest correction a game ever has to deal with. But no instead a game functionality change was pushed via server code update with no in game notification so suddenly the player base is confused why a thing that has behaved one way since its implementation now is suddenly doing something different, you know, kinda like how BUGS tend to be reported....
I'm not meaning to sit here and whine but man does this dev team have a talent for killing love/interest in this game repeatedly. Best of luck to all of you continuing to invest time in this game but for me the objectively poor handling(not laying blame on the CM's) of yet another "fix" means I'm leaving for now, if not forever.
If the trace charm was bugged, at least fix it to where casting it brings at least one common, one high, one severe and one emergency confoundable.
Niantic, improve your quality testing and your communication. Apologies only go so far when you keep doing it again and again and again.
