@HPWULOLA Used a trace charm on a red emergency at a nearby park and got a bunch of low level foundables. It's no different than using the tonic for trace detection now. Trace charm is now totally worthless. I didn't even bother trying to get those traces. I stop playin the game, left the park in frustration and went home. This fix ruined the trace charm. I'm so close to deleting the game.
What we originally paid many field guides, ministry manuals and dada books for is not what you're providing us after the said fix. We, the community, read your original explanation of these traces and LOVED the fact that we got a repeat of the same level of trace! Spending all these books on this new thing is NOT what I paid for. Please refund my SOS books or reinstate the way it worked before the fix. PRETTY PLEASE!
This is a seriously BAD decision. It reeks of poor planning and communication - there are plenty of other bugs that have yet to be addressed, and devs decide to destroy one of the few enjoyable mistakes in the game? Good luck getting your player base back.

Trace charm is totally useless now. Why take away something that make this game more exciting? worse, give and take away.
It was nice while it lasted. Time to purchase game currency on another game. POGO was ruined in a similar way. Very disappointing 😕.
I would like you to give us back the trace charm like it was before today’s update.
No “forgive me” gifts.... that has gotten old. Your “forgive me gifts”doesn’t even come close to the number of books that I wasted on the trace charm nodes.
If you continue to mistreat your client base.... they will eventually reach their limit.
With this update... I have reach my limit. I will not invest any more of my hard earned money in buying gold for this game. You obviously don’t value your customer. I am going to play till I run out of existing gold or when I find another game, whichever comes sooner.
I would never have spent all those books in all those trace charm nodes if I would have known you would do this.
Same garbage logic that ruined pokemon for me. Ruin the one fun thing that had been introduced in this game for the last year. I'm always playing 2 accounts, a 31 Magi and 48 Prof. Now is a wonderful time to quit and take my money elsewhere. Reinstating the trace charm exactly how it was 24 hrs ago is the only thing that'll keep me from quitting at this point. Peace

I agree with OP's request to let us keep the benefits we had. In an earlier post on trace charm clarification we were told there would be no changes to how the mechanics worked. Why did there have to be
First we don't get 3 fragments per returned trace and now this. I loved this feature, please bring it back!
Out of the 3 new S.O.S. charms there was one useful and consequential for players. The community loved the Trace Charm, strived to get the S.O.S. skills to improve it, and brought a lot of people to play and enjoy the game more.
It is very sad that the HPWU team considered this one useful feature "a bug", and chose to take away the one useful feature of the new S.O.S. training.
The game does not need another blah TTD, which is what the update on the Trace Charm has made it to be. TTD is already in the game, and gets some use. It is not nearly as exciting for the player community as Trace Charm was, before the "bugs" were announced and fixed.
Regardless of what happens next, keep the dittany.
I will add my voice of discontent. You are outright lying to the community, to the players who pay your salary! You add expenses new features into the game, then months later, make them totally useless. You guys have a serious issue on your hands now, and no cheap little "gift" is going to fix it.

So disappointed about the changes in the trace charm effects. I live in a low density suburban and it really helped me when the rare traces would appear. I’ve been working really hard to earn them each day, now I don’t see the point... and I will really miss the fun I experienced prior to today’s changes. 😢
I guess we will never know if it's actually true that it was a bug, or they are just nerfing because the feature was too powerful/made progress faster than planned. But let's go with the "bug" explanation for now.
This "bug" should be evident to the developers mere hours after it got released: Tons of posts in here and other social media praising this crazy new Trace Charm world. Yet, they say nothing - the earliest I can find is the August 21 update on https://community.harrypotterwizardsunite.com/en/discussion/9143/known-issues
You will notice there a great deal of "known issues", but this is the first time "7. Duplicate Traces revealed by the Trace Charm" is mentioned - it's not in the August 14. update.
I too, would not look forward to telling the community that this "bug" was going away - I get it! But it just seems so UNPROFESSIONAL not to tell the pleayers before, in reality, they already changed the game. To top it off, it happens just before a weekend event where the Trace Charm was to be a big feature for a lot of players - I mean, could you possible make worse communication?
What happened to that posts when SOS launched "Hey guys, great that you enjoy our game but that extra amount is acually a bug and we will fix it. Enjoy it while it lasts - and maybe consider your SOS skill tree choices :) "
Don't the devs know we have to have SOME trust in them to even play?
There are three reasons why I'm deeply upset about this update, to the point where I may stop playing the game unless you roll back the changes. First, you mislead players based on a) your miscommunication about the intended effects of the trace charm and b) how the trace charm behaved for months. So I invested a great deal of time into upgrading parts of the skill tree that are now largely worthless.
Second, without the trace charm's initial behavior, it is now mathematically impossible for me to complete the SOS skill tree within the next few years. The old trace charm revitalized the game for me, giving me something to meaningfully work towards by gaining blue books. I started caring about prestiging pages (because I'd get more blue books from the gold page when I cast a charm) and I started caring about wizarding weekends (to get blue books). ****, I started caring about the SOS training BECAUSE it was a way to improve the trace charm.
Now the game is back to what it was in the summer: a grind without meaningful progress. The trace charm was the single biggest improvement you've made to fix your broken game. You massively increased interest in the community. And now you broke it!!! Long term players, who are your main source of revenue (I assume), were already upset by the bugs, server problems, bad communication, etc. But we were sticking around in part because you introduced an update that was awesome largely because of the new trace charm mechanics. But you scrapped it after (unintentionally, I'm sure) deceiving us.
Y'all are going to lose your player base; this is the biggest factor in accelerating that loss. Please listen to this round of complaints. I want this game to remain healthy because it's got so much potential. But this is a terrible choice that, unless you did it, may do irrevocable damage to your reputation in the WU community.
I was playing just to meet the daily requirements. Then the trace charm came around and I would leave the game on all day looking for severe traces to use it on to maximize field guides. The trace charm greatly increased my interaction with the game. With this change i will be going Back to playing for event completion only... If even that much.
This can only be rectified by either reverting the trace charm change or a sos skill tree respect at this point. So many restricted books where waisted because of poor communication and bad proof reading. This would not have been a problem if they explained what the intent was when this was realized as a bug... Not 2 months later... Feels more like it was realized that we where gaining resources to quickly idk... Just not fun.
I felt bummed when I learned that I had waisted resources in proficiency because 'the text was wrong', now when the text appears right the implementation is wrong.... Got the raw end of the developers mistake both times, and instead of throwing us a bone for their mess up, they punish us and it will feeling punishing without a reversion to trace charms old use or via a skill tree respect.

For those of us who live off the map, we can only generate traces with potions and this new trace charm. Some of us were very excited to have this new opertunity. Now you've takin a lot of its value away and again some of us that play daily but have zero naturally generating traces are getting screwed. Maybe I need to find a new hobby to pour my money into. This one doesn't seem to value its fans, its customers or its word.
The trace charm has been great how it is Specifically saved to use to duplicate those rare traces you need.
I wrote to support asking to return my field guides and blue and green books spent on efficacy.
And my decision is to stop playing so I wrote also the following:

They absolutely ruined the game for me.
You had players ready to quit with all the previous bugs and mistakes, but then when the trace charm was released, they became excited again and started playing like crazy. Now you want to nerf it? You really want people to play less and spend less money? Even if it was "a bug" like you claim, if you made something that got people excited and playing more, why would you remove it?
I have spent a lot of resources on getting the trace charm efficacy, and now want my books back. If I knew this was how the trace charm efficacy was supposed to work, I wouldn't have spent all those resources.
Please return the trace charm to the way it was before, or at least if they are suppose to be random spawns, make them all of the same threat level. Otherwise, people will be playing less, spending less, and some will even quit.
Niantic chose the worst way to "fix" the bug... they could add levels to the game if the problem is "getting too fast to lv. 60", or add a sapphire frame or something to the prestige system... they could make the "clone bug" a feature in all the events, or only the brilliant ones... but NO, they just "fixed" it without any appropriate communitation ONE DAY before a Wizarding Weekend... really stupid move, I guess...

I feel as if I have been slapped in the face one to many times by you in the past couple of months, but taking out the absolute best feature in the game of the Trace Charm may be the last straw.
I can guarantee not one single player wants random traces to appear on the map that are going to appear for free anyway if we just wait. We want more of the same level traces or higher that we paid for with our hard earned manuals and impossible to acquire DADA books.
Please reconsider this poor decision on behalf of everyone who loves this game.
The trace charm has been completely trashed. I put all my effort into getting 6 traces. Now it is giving me one trace and trash. With this change everything I have been doing has been for nothing. I could have spent my resources a lot differently if I had any idea at all that this was going to come out the way it did. There is very little value to getting more than on extra trace with this change.
I am very unhappy.
Trace charm does now appear to be a nothing burger. As someone else said just like tonic for trace. I am wondering how to get back resources to use in other spots. The changes that have been made are awful.
This is riddiculous, first the proficiency was nerfed, and now this. If you nerf one thing and not the other, then it's still within reasons, but nerfing both when people has invested so many green books and FG/MM into them is just lame. Considering if people know how bad it would become, they probably would've avoided those nodes.
Also, some of the skills takes such an ridiculous amount of resources just to get in order to continue down the skill tree while being a useless skill, eg. "Southern Cookin'" that skills takes 1818 FG to complete and yet all it gives is partner inn boost when most countries doesn't even have partner inn. So with the nerfed TC, you're asking people to spend months just to grind that one useless skill, which will demotivate and make people lose interest in the game.
This is the biggest kick in the gut. All the wasted "Early" DADA books. We may never recover from the loss of books. We don't even know what you'll change next. Trunks seem worthless now.
I could not be more frustrated at your change to the Trace Charm. As a player from the beginning, level 56 with every page but one completed, 2 professions maxed, and the 3rd nearly maxed, the TC - as it was working - was literally the only thing keeping me playing. I can get five a day, and have been playing hard to try too get all five each day.
To use it today on a red-beamed foundable and have a bunch of commons show up was a shock. And since I had gone to an inn and was playing with 3 Dark Detectors on and was surrounded by commons, it was nearly impossible to figure out which ones had spawned with the TC! It was more than disappointing. I thought something was broken - and it is! I just didn't realize you had broken it on purpose!
I worked HARD daily for hours to earn the books to open all the TC SOS lessons possible - and opened a bunch of lessons I didn't care about at all in order to get to them - only to have it nerfed to the level of a Trace Tonic - it's ridiculous, and makes all that work I did basically worth NOTHING.
I have been a loyal niantic customer since the inception of PoGo, but if you don't fix this, I'm done. I've been through all the server problems, the disastrous changes earlier this spring, the glitches . . . but to have you purposefully tell us one thing, show us one thing, then do something completely different - making a major part of game play worthless, as far as I'm concerned, is beyond what I can accept.
I was enjoying playing during the pandemic, since I"m stuck at home, but there are many other games I can play at home. Please reconsider this disastrous decision. Unless and until you do I'm going to set the game aside. The aggravation I'm feeling at the moment just isn't worth it. Gaming is supposed to be fun - not aggravating.
The Trace Charm as it was, was way overpowered and unbalanced comparing to any other node. Think about it - with one Charm placed on Emergency Trace you could easily place one or two rare images in the registry, which then, with a proper SOS tree development, would give you a pretty good chance of getting the Charm back. The way it's now, it's much more balanced. Everyone says they would spend the books in a different way. What would you spend them on? On 1% higher chance of departure denial? Or 3% faster Dawdle Draught brew?
It's going to be a very unpopular opinion, but trust me when I tell you, Trace Charm, together with XP from chests and extended Barrufio kinda ruined the game for me. I went from L55 to L60 faster than from L35 to L40. Now at L60, with all registry pages gold, I pretty much stopped playing because there's not much left to work for. Enjoy your game while you can, it really should be a marathon, not a sprint, because you will only end up bored that much faster...

it was really big, compared to the pointless inn and greenhouse charms so the excuse is plausible, but dammit, guys hire someone who can communicate and let him read over your words before you send them out, in announcements AND in the game.
