What to do with all those runestones?

I'm just wondering, what do you do with all the runestones?
Are there people that have a shortage?
I have close to 500 runestones, excluding the BE runestones. I already got rid of all the level 1 and 2 runestones so the 500 that I have, are just the level 3, 4 and 5 runestones. I'm working hard to get the number down but at best I can keep it steady, most of the time it still goes up.
Do you delete them, or play A LOT of challenges?

I used to have a shortage, when I was playing daily challenges on the KB. But since starting my new job, I am getting lots of stones but not spending many! I definitely need more MOM stones, though!
Never delete runestones! They don't expire and there's no cap on how many you can have. It may feel like you're accumulating ridiculous amounts of them, but that's a good thing. At some point you're going to want to focus on getting fragments from a particular family. When that happens, you'll be very glad to have more than enough runes for that family. One of the worst things in the world is to need a few more of a particular fortress foundable to be able to prestige the page, but you've run out of the runes you need.
@Zuzanna93 as a Professor i am able to finish all the ruins chambers and at least the 1st two tower chambers without using any energy due to the focus that accumulates allowing the Deterioration Hex to do all the work. (In the tower chambers i might need to use one spell energy or a simple invigoration draught for the last foe).
I pop a BBE and go solo fortressing every few days.
I have 692 non BE stones and 119 BE stones.

@RabbeinuTam can you explain to me further how you are not using much SE in the lower levels you described? I am very curious to know how as I have never played as a Professor before...very curious!!
Also @Zuzanna93 I recently hit over 2,000 runestones!! Seriously?!?! I remember this time last year I would have less then 50 and freak out. But since the release of KB it is so much easier to fortress and I probably average between 20-30 battles a day. Sometimes simply to farm gifts for my generous friends.
Just like @MtPollux stated above that you can hold as many as you collect in your inventory don’t let the numbers bother you. They are all yours!! Also on those Community Days that are based around fortressing where you get SE in each level you play it is a good time to go through a hundred or so runestones just for the CXP and family fragments. 🤩
I’ve been chasing the Unfinished Marauders Map (LoH) as it’s been holding up my silver>gold prestige.
Over the past 3 days, I’ve blown through 300 LoH runestones, and managed to get from 4/21 to 19/21.
I’m in full on quarantine (travelled back from Spain to UK), so due to a serious lack of Spell Energy, I’ve had to hammer Ruins I &II with det hex (Professor obviously), without expending any SE.
So I agree with @MtPollux, never delete runestones, you never know when you’ll need them!
@ClairabusGryff the foes in the lower chambers have a small enough energy bar (until 300 definitely works here) and the timer long enough that the Deterioration Hex (which takes 40 energy from the foe) can be used without using Spell Energy (Professors start with 4 focus, Det Hex is 3). The foes also give enough focus to use on the next foe. As you get closer to the Tower chambers you need to make sure you do the correct foes first (the one with more focus awarded) to continue using the hex.
So, immediately hex the first foe and let it expend its energy.
Then hex the next foe (or the one that gives back the higher amount of focus) and repeat until you clear the chamber.

Ok, so I'm not the only one with massive amounts 😂
I don't delete runestones, I know there's no cap so why would I. I currently do a lot of solo fortressing in the lower chambers. I try to keep level 1 and 2 runestones to a minimum. I noticed that it's necessary to do fortressing because indeed if you don't, your pages get stuck and you can't prestige. I was just surprised that despite the number of challenges I do, the number of runestones still seems to increase 😅

I have more Brilliant Fantastic Flora and Fauna Runestones, than some people have total runestones 😋
Level 1 runestones I use for Fortress events that have guaranteed fragments. Most bang for the buck...
@Cartaphilus Those Fortress events usually require higher level fortresses, so using level 1 Runestones is a waste. I prefer to use level 1 Runestones to quickly do low level fortresses; in order to get gifts or fragments that I can place for chances at more trace charges.
Slightly different question...
Once you have your pages (trace family and challenge) to gold, what's the point of rune stones?
You need 1/day for your daily achievement.
Just in case they add another new page to a family?
Just to grind for the family XP and Family Treasure chests?
I only have 4-5 pages left that are not on gold (like dragons and eggs), and it wont take all that long to complete 90%+ of the new SOS skills that do not require DADA books to unlock.
Without a *meaningful* update, not just a rehash of existing game mechanics, I'm not sure I see where this is headed.
I use mine for **** to get gifts and for placing on cxp pages for trunks... Been working well for me 🤷♀️
@Niff1erTick1er The point of runestones for me after prestiging pages to gold is to have an on demand set of 12 trunks anytime I want a Trace Charm and don't have one. I'm usually sitting on 4-5 families with a fortress foundable ready to place so I can have 48-60 trunks ready at any time. I then fortress the other families to build them up so even when I use my stash, I'm ready to keep that 4-5 pretty consistently on demand.
I always have runestone shortage.
The only massive runestone i have is oddities, only have two images the eggs and the bow. And the bow page is still stuck at basic prestige so not many fortress for oddities runestone.
