Idle players...
I’m sure this has been posted numerous times, but I’m tired of riding the Knight Bus and having players not contribute. Could we get a an indicator somewhere of how many foes each player has defeated in the current challenge. A report button sounds drastic however if numerous people report that person just make it so they get to play with others like themselves.

Maybe not a report, but a rating feature maybe?
5* = efficient teamplay
3* = does something but does not provide efficient strategic spells
0* = does nothing
With rating displayed in camber lobby other players could decide not to enter with to low rated players, which in turn would be an incentive not to remain idle during battle.
However in some cases some people stay idle not because they want it, but due to connexion issues...
This drives me crazy as well! I have done some challenges where I've had two or more teammates and I've defeated half the foes by myself. I would love a tally of some kind to be visible to everyone.
@TyrandausTravis I’d be happy with a rating system. That would probably be easier to do.
I feel like players who don't defeat at least one foe should be treated the same as if they left the challenge—lose the runestone and gain no rewards.
@TyrandausTravis , @SlythrnKnight33 , @Interpdeatheter : I get just as angry as any of you when I pass all my Focus to a Prof, and then have to go into battle without even Weakening my opponent while the Prof sits on all that Focus. But some of these issues are understandable, and some are deliberately caused by Niantic.
For example, in the last set of missions, the 4th one required completion of Dark III through V. Low level players have no chance to do them, unless they are with a group of higher players who pick up the slack. Of course someone will say they should just accept they have no realistic chance to be there unless it's on someone's coattails and not try for the promised reward for completing the missions. But GAMES are not about what you can't do or shouldn't be able to do. They are about FUN. If Niantic isn't providing a FUN gaming experience, then HPWU should collapse into a pile of useless and unused code.
A possible answer to this is putting the level number of each player rather than that indecipherable number that is now placed by each player. Mine is 50670, not that I have any idea what that means or what it says about my ability to take on a chamber. (And no, I'm not asking for an explanation, or worse a link to the thread where it is explained. I'm a level 43 Auror. That should be enough information. If it isn't that NIANTIC'S fault for deliberate obfuscation.)
I have suggested that RUNNING AWAY in real life will attract predators to you. Bullies pick on the ones who run away. So a partial solution to the problem of people ducking out is two-fold. 1) Some of the opponents will chase the one running away, giving those who remain a fighting chance. 2) Deduct experience, levels, energy, etc from those who run away for cowardice. If the penalty for ducking out is high enough, people will stay around. No need for public shaming.
To the lower level players I would say your strategic spells are just as powerful as those from a level 60 player. Make sure you use them to support your team and people will complain less about your contribution.
And that brings me to the next thing most causal gamers aren't aware of. Casual Aurors don't realize that the main use of their Focus points is to pass them to a Professor. Many casual Professors don't know they should save up 7 Focus points and cast Shield as soon as possible. And I don't even know if that's the BEST advice, because I neither know nor care about which Prof and Magis spells are the best or in what order they should be used. It's just what I have learned through casual reading of this base. As a casual gamer, I don't really want to waste hours every day searching these threads for tidbits to squeeze ever possible advantage out of the game. Once a game becomes a chore, I quit playing.
The more complicated the game becomes, the more that HARD CORE GAMERS should be writing posts, and reposting important things new or casual gamers should know to be effective, and making SURE that such information remains at the top of the list. Few casual gamers are willing to search through a few thousand messages. If it's not at or near the top, they may never see it. If you aren't helping people who don't know as much as you do, who's fault is that?
How about rewarding based on how much you contribute. The more you contribute the more rewards you get. Contribute nothing and get no rewards.
Define contribution.
Encounters are random, professions are both offense and support etc.
Is killing a foe more or less contribution then resurrecting a fallen teammate?
Is dealing damage contributing more than shielding or debuffing?
This morning I ran a dark 5 where a grand total of 2 werewolves spawned. As a professor, I had to deal with a lot more foes who were harder and more difficult than my own. I did my best, popped more potions then I wanted too and cleared as much as I could.
Did I contribute more or less than the other members who got to fight their own foes?
I'm all for rewarding contribution but you're going to have to measure it correctly or you're opening a big can of worms.
That still leaves those with network errors who would contribute, but cant.
as a longtime player that only recently started 'enjoying' the D* chambers, apologies
there is a rhythm to working a d-chamber that takes practice without much in the way of guidance, love reading threads like this, every bit helps
consider setting up a consolidated guide and resetting our highest chamber to our base
when we start to complain send a link to the guide
Love the game, the new sos skills are awesome
spz
The only thing that really helps me is when I am in a chamber and someone does nothing I just think about the times I have had connection issues or real life weird stuff happens and I just try to pay to forward.
I have no issue with low level players trying out high level chambers... as long as they participate according to their competencies and don't stay idle.
They can start damaging lower level foes (1-3 stars) while others are busy with the higher ones and launch their strategic spells.
In Pokemon Go Gym battles, there are extra bonuses for the players that contributed the most damage.
Not sure this would be the best approach here, as supporting your team mates is probably more important than your individual contribution.
But if there was a way to calculate each player contribution, that could give extra XP and fragments, that would be a good incentive.
And if a player did nothing (no action) gets nothing...
