Understanding The Threat Meter

I looked at the section on "Threat Meter" but I stil don't understand exactly how it works. Early on the hands would raise up to a threat level, then a second hand would drop back down creating a range between the two hands. What does this range mean?

Now at higher levels (currently Lvl 23) I get 3 hands on the threat meter so I'm really confused!

I believe the range indicates the probability of defeating the confoundable from a fair spell cast up through a masterful spell cast for a base level wizard. You can even see the range adjust when selecting different strength exstimulo.

I believe the third hand indicates your strength relative to the range of the confoundable. I believe this is also indicated on the casting screen as the location of the pointer prior to your cast. But I need to slow down and confirm this. Ultimately the information on the threat meter is duplicated by the coloring of the bar on the main casting display.

But hey, I could be completely wrong here.

    Hay,

As you level up it becomes easier to overcome threats as they weaken, I believe there is text at level 10 and 15 I've come across so far, not sure if there is any in higher levels.

The top hand shows how strong the threat would have been below level 10 without you level bonus and the other two show show strong the range is for you.

    Hope that makes sense :D

It is the range you are "given" based on your stats vs your foe. Including any potion that you are using (Red, Orange, Yellow, Light green and then Green).

Oh, have any of you seen a Severe threat level yet?

I've seen Harry, Fawkes and Buckbeak I think. Fawkes for certain (are the multiple Harrys?)
