For make skill [Studious Success] can reward for effort of hard player I suggest add merit mechanic which increase chance to get charm charge.

Merit mechanic may be increase about 2-3% to get charge every time player open trunk but not get charge and reset to base after gain charge. It's guarantee to get charm charge every 50 trunks(if gain 2%) or 33 trunk(if gain 3%). This mechanic will reduce player suffer from misfortune about can't get charge for long time.

I hope it will make all wizard happy to play this game.

To have a 2% chance does not make it guaranteed to have it every 50 trunks.

Probability just don't work like this...

I already have a trace charm quite frequently when I place a picture from trace charm fragments. I actually feel it is already pretty well balanced.

@TyrandausTravis the suggestion was that the chance increase by 2% per chest opened until you earn a charm charge, then it would reset to base. So if you start from 0, the first chest would have a 2% chance, the second a 4% chance, and so on up to 100% for the 50th chest.

I tend to agree with you that it is sufficiently balanced as is. I can see how a casual player might want more trace charm charges because they may not open many chests, but I think that increasing it would be to much.

I would like to see caps on both ends. I've had times where I've received charms from consecutive trunks, and times when I've needed to open over a hundred trunks before the next one came. Consecutive is too soon and a hundred is too many, so putting limits at each end could help streamline the approximately 5% it looks like they're **** for without having people needing to endure long stretches without getting one.

Honestly, I don't mind the chance as it is now.

I get 1 to 3 charms on top of the daily quest rewards.

And given that it's very powerful... It pretty well balanced imo.

@Attrition I agree with you its may start base at 10% then increase 5% every opened trunk and limit about 60-70% chance to obtain trace.

What some of you forget is that there is an amply sized player base out there that open dozens of trunks every day. They are already getting 4 or more charges each day and every time they cast that on a red beam, they open another 4 or so trunks and increase their chance of getting more chargers.

To increase the chance every time you open a trunk would tip the scales and really make the charm overpowered. It is a very powerful tool as it is!

Those that have commented above that they are receiving 1-3 additional Trace charms was my experience about 2 weeks ago. Since then I have played almost constantly, have placed many stickers and opened countless trunks and not a single extra Trace charm. And I’m seeing this as a consistent comment.

Something needs to be debugged and updated since it’s happening repeatedly to a lot of players.

@Magpie31 I agree with you that the trace charm is powerful, and increasing the frequency without qualification would be a problem. My suggestion above was not to increase the frequency, but to control the random factor a bit so that they can be more consistent. If they are meant to occur 5% of the time, then I propose they not be permitted to occur in consecutive trunks, but that they also would not be permitted to go more than 100 trunks without seeing one. There are not many people who find pure random chance to be a fun engine for game play. I'm not saying that every 20th trunk should create a charm like clockwork, but that it shouldn't be that difficult to prevent the extremes from being a part of the game. While I don't mind going on a "slump" of 40 or 50, it is demoralizing to wait over 100 trunks for a charm. It can be equally frustrating to get several in such a short period of time that they are wasted. Having a certain number of trunks where it can't spawn after getting one, and having a maximum number of trunks without one would go a long way toward keeping the feeling of random, but also protecting players from the statistical outliers that aren't fun, all without changing the intended frequency.

@NyxNimlee I understand your frustration, but without actual numbers, it's hard to discern if there is an actual problem or if you simply had a good luck streak that is now being followed by a bad luck streak. If Niantic were so inclined, they may be able to look into it and know one way or the other without you providing the data, but I obviously don't have that kind of access. I can tell you that the longest streak that I have seen without a charm is 109 trunks. It's a lot, but it isn't countless, and assuming a 5% rate from the trunks, there is a 0.4% chance of seeing a streak that long. That may seem low, but it means that for every 1000 people that open 109 chests, 4 of them won't receive a charm. Multiply that by the game's population and you'll see that, while unlikely, there is bound to be a population of players who will experience that kind of drought.

I suggest using fortress foundables on gold pages to try to speed you through the slump you're in. You receive 12 trunks for each one, so you can quickly accumulate a large number of opportunities, which of course increases your chances of finally seeing one. Also, you may want to start counting. When you have hard numbers to look at, you may discover that "countless" only feels that way, and that you've actually only been waiting for a more reasonable 40-50 trunks, which should be expected sometimes. Also, seeing how many times you've only had to wait for a few trunks can help offset the frustration when you're forced to wait longer. Finally, if you do experience something absurd, like 200-300 hundred, you can present that data to support an argument that something may be broken.

In the last week I've had very good luck getting TC charges, if you had asked me, I would have guessed odds increased. I don't rule out buggy behavior, unfortunately the game's reputation for poor quality looms over everything.
