Can someone clarify - in the SOS training there are upgrades which specify a treasure chest boost that gives you a chance to be awarded with a spellbook. My question is - do they mean the old Red Spellbooks for upgrades on the original profession tree?

I’m looking for the same answer before I take the chance on giving it a go.
Me too. Where should I check??
I took a chance and bought "False Passage", figuring worst case it will slow me down a month. It has given the Red spellboks used in profession lessons as rewards.
@Bahonyo have you only gotten red spell books? Any RSB or DADA books? How often are you getting red spell books and how many at a time?
My question is with the new release of MM, Field Guides, and DADA book why wouldn’t the treasure trunks reward these items? I am drowning in red spell books. 🙄
@ClairabusGryff see what Lola posted in another thread☺️
"SOS books need to be given out"
In the currency vault there is only one item with the label "Spell Books".
FYI....
Having so many SOS skills (that require DADA books) which only grant Spell books makes no sense unless they are a critical resource when they release Combat Training.
If you look at the requirements for field guides and S.O.S. manuals, you will see a nearly exponential increase in costs for the skills. This will likely be the case with new combat skills. You will likely need around 1k skill books to master the next lesson plan and at least 2k for the 3rd lesson plan. If you want to master all three professions at some point in time, the skills will be useful.

I have only gotten red books so far (a total of 3 to date, when I placed 2 fortress foundables on gold frames). 1 each time I received them.
Again, in the currency vault there is only one item with the label "Spell Books".
Like said before me.
There only one currency called spell books and they are those red ones you get from fortress/knight bus.
Don't invest in the skills expecting anything other than those books.
I expected it was going to be the red books only, but decided it would be worth the small delay in other lessons, to see if this was another one of those times where the text said one thing and meant something slightly different.... Since I plan to complete the tree eventually, there is no harm in checking early. With this game, it seems the only way to know for sure is for someone to try it and see what happens. =)
Given the numerous description errors in the SOS skills, it wouldn't be surprising if these skills did something other than grant spellbooks.
Since so many are doubting the skills... here is a screenshot. The odds of actually getting a Spell Book is fairly low, but they will add up over time, so it is worth it to me.
@BenTiger I don'tthink people were doubting the skills, just wondering if it meant all spell books or just red ones. I think it has become very clear in recent months, however, that the game developers only mean red books when they talk about spell books.
Whomever said there drowning in spell books send them my way please. I've maxed out as an Auror and am now working on Magizoologist. Once I complete that on to Professor.
@Raidengl They mount up! At one point, my friends and I were doing weeklu fortress sessions for a few hours and would walk out with at least 20 red books each time. Playing dark 5 in a team is really helpful!
I'd love to but that's more potions then I'd like to use. And more gold then I'd like to buy.
Since the game itself calls those spellbooks, it’s my guess they ment only those books.
They would specify in the task if it ment other books/guides as well.
Since the game itself calls those Spell Books, it’s my guess they ment only those books (every word is capitalised)
They would specify in the task if you would get something else
Not sure if this is worth the dada book investment, since we only get about 20 dada books a month. Well, for me at least, since I've completed magi and aurora. For professor, I've already completed all red spellbooks requirement and have 150 red spellbooks for when they release lesson 2. I think its only a good investment when you are in early stages and need tons of eed spellbooks.
@TrevNguyen There will be an exponential rise in the cost of getting new skills from the new combat lesson plans... so it is best to start saving up the skill books, now. It is very likely that it will cost thousands of skill books for the new lesson plans.
@BenTiger how are you at over 30K in your SOS then? All the roadblocks are DADA books
@Ryjamin The major paths are blocked by RSB. The paths that are blocked by DADA books are not worth much towards your score, but some of the skills are very beneficial.
@BenTiger did you only put RSBs roward one profession then and just hoarded them?
@Ryjamin I did only use RSB on Professor and hoard RSB, but I am keeping about 100 in reserve, for when they release more combat lessons. The rest are slowly being used on the S.O.S. skills.
How often are spellbooks being rewarded? I have opened at least 7 Hogwarts treasure trunks and not received a spellbook yet.
