Numbering system

Can anyone explain the new number system. I am level 50, but I feel like a newbie trying to figure out what the numbers mean.
The first time I went to a fortress, my number was 101---. the next time it was 57---. Then it was 26--- and then back to 57---. It now fluctuates between the 57--- and 26--- values.
I also do not understand the numbers that appear when a trace is engaged.
Any help would be appreciated.

@Reader1946 the initial 101k number was a placeholder until the sos training went live. The fluctuation with the numbers after that however is a glitch that the HPWUteam are looking into. In order to get the higher number, you can switch your profession and then switch back to your original profession, which usually works. However, when you complete a lesson that number may go back to the lower one, so you may need to switch professions again to reset it.
