Not getting Traces with Dark Detectors or in Flagged Areas

I find dark detectors to be very frustrating. I feel like I actually get fewer traces, and I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong. It always happens when I take Barbuffio's Brain Elixir and try to place some dark detectors. For example, today I took the potion and then placed 2 in an inn next to a fortress. I was not getting ANY traces, nevermind any better or more rare ones. Is it pointless to use less than 3 detectors? I didn't add a 3rd to this inn to test it out. Could there be something about the inns near a fortress? Now that I'm thinking about it, the inns were all very close to a fortress.

I also don't seem to find a lot of traces in flagged areas all the time. The other day I visited 3 flagged areas (different families and all in different towns). I literally got no traces until I left the area. I had also taken the brain elixir, could they be plotting against me? ;)

I wonder if it's time of day. I was at an Inn around 8am ET with the brain elixer and 2 dark detectors. I got some great spawns I had never gotten before! These are the ones I got and all were first timers for me:

    Magick Moste Evile

    Portrait of Voldemort (fragment)

    Portrait of Albus Dumbledore (fragment)

    Sirius Black (fragment)

    Mad-Eye Moody (fragment)

    Dumbledore's Memory Cabinet (fragment)

    Pensieve (fragment)

The same day, later in the day my results were much fewer and more common. I have heard mornings are a better time for the more rare spawns.

Good to know about mornings, thanks!

Earlier this afternoon I went to a small plaza in the next town that’s that has like 6 Inns and 2 greenhouses along with a couple of dark arts flags. I was getting a really high number of traces, but nothing special or out of the ordinary.

Then I added 2 each in two different inns on opposite sides of the courtyard. I the suggestion somewhere, and it definitely worked. I got a couple Tom Riddles and PERCIVAL graves among others.

PS Typing on this site is SO frustrating!

I also tend to get more interesting (rather than frequent) traces from Dark Detectors. I think they start their own separate trace spawn timer--but it still only procs every 5min or whatever.

I get off work at 5am and hit a park near my house or job. I noticed way better traces early morn as opposed to mid day.

There was a suggestion somewhere to find a few inns close together and place a dark detector one each. better results than placing all three in one inn. There was a group of us who Tried this. SO THERE WAS ACTUALLY THREE INNS ALL WITHIN RANGE OF EACH other, 3 detectors in each. tons oF spawns mix of value tho some low some high. Was at lunch break, so mid day.

Ugh, messaging sucks with the lag. Sorry about typos and caps.

Hm, yeah, I stopped by a burger place for dinner that was right on top of an inn, so I placed three detectors and sat there waiting for Foundables. But I didn't really notice a change/improvement. Maybe morning is the trick after all? Perhaps there's a brunch in my future...

I went out the other night to a Dark Arts nest. I deployed 3 dark detectors and only saw one Dark Arts spawn. I moved to another nest a few blocks away. There were six Dark Arts spawn. I deployed three Dark Detectors and never saw another Dark Arts spawn the remainder of the 30 minutes. The few spawn It did generate appeared one every 5 -7 minutes.
