Cannot possibly win dark chamber 3 and up.... used to just have to win one of the challenges now have to beat them all? A complete joke and waste of time.... get it together Niantic.
@Haggis63 Keep working on your profession skills and you will get there. The Dark chambers are much smoother with a team. And now you can see appraisal scores, you can check that your team have the required abilities.
To echo what @Magpie31 said, @Haggis63, once you hit the Dark chambers, you want to go in with at least one of every profession. We can argue what the best arrangement is (*), but you need one of each.
(*) I prefer AAPPM (two Aurors, two Professors, one Magizoologist), but that's just me. Give me that (and Aurors who actually pass focus more than once in the beginning), and it's smooth sailing.
@Magpie31 - being a solo prof is nice if the focus flows freely to you, misery if it doesn't. At least with a second professor, I know that we'll at least have TPC and three shields up after the first round.
I'll also admit: if I don't get focus, Aurors don't get shields until after me and the Magi (assuming said Magi throws up Team Bravery). Yes, it is selfish, but I've gotten tired of having to cripple myself for others if they're not going to help me help them. No, I don't do this in Dark chambers because A) usually I don't have to worry about getting zero focus there (just not enough *sigh*), and B) it's too self-detrimental.
Yup, need teammates in the upper chambers, as @FireWanderer said, at least one of each profession and as @Magpie31 said, the new appraisal scores help you see the abilities of your comrades. I haven't lost a wizarding challenge in over a month.
Just to add, I don't go round getting vengeance for no reason. I mean, if you have elite sniped, got yourself KOed four times and keep going after that elite, even though bravery and proficiency aren't up yet and you have other proficient foes on the board, then you are being put in time out.
Don't go after the elites unless the shields and proficiency have been placed, this should be common knowledge.
I only go into elites before those are placed if it is the only thing on the board and no new foes have shown up for about a minute, and even then only to use 1-2 spell energy & then jump out to look for more foes.
@Magpie31 I don't ride motorcycles, though. My dad got T-boned on a bike in college (was in traction for a couple months) and threatened to disown me if I ever tried. Other than that though ...
I agree, something has changed things. I'm having thr same trouble. I've beat Dark Chamber 5 a handful of times. I'm at the top of my profession and should easily beat it based on the recommended level I'm 67,000 and recommended is 50,000. But the chamber was much more difficult than it has been and despite shields and fighting things in my strength, I was getting 1/5 of my health taken each time they attacked. And each time I attacked (with Potient Extimulo potion) it seemed to do such little damage.
@FireWanderer My uncle died in a bike accident and my mum asked me never to ride. But it is the only way for me to feasibly get to work in this city. I have bought a little vespa type thing, so not a full on motorbike. It feels a bit safer somehow.
@Elmrock I suspect the new level requirements take team play into account. So whereas it recommended 15 before, that was based on real world fortresses where team play was less common. Now the KB facilitates team play easily, those numbers have been lowered.

Good luck!

@FireWanderer I like that combination too. Also AAMMP works, or AAAMP.

@FireWanderer I have found suitable ways to be petty, whatever profession I am playing. If you are not a team player, there are consequences 😈

@Magpie31 - I try not to be vindictive/petty too much, but there are times when I'm just like "okay, then, that's how we're going to play it ..."
@FireWanderer Good Lord, I really think I have found my twin!
