Hi, Wizard unite is too less player playing.. your game is awesome, but player are too less, after launch that is not hot as previous pokemon go.. please more promote to the game
1) Pokemon Go released years earlier and was revolutionary in technology and design. A first of its kind game. Harry Potter is not as much, it improves on existing tech but doesn't WOW the market with new technology.
2) As an intellectual property, Pokemon is bigger than Harry Potter. Both were started around the same time, 1996-1997. Pokemon has revenues of $55B and Harry Potter only $25B. Pokemon is also in almost twice as many countries.
Based on these two fairly obvious points, I think we can expect Harry Potter Wizards Unite to potentially reach half the player base Pokemon Go has. Which I'm sure would be very profitable, just a question of whether or not they would view this as a success internally.
Actually, Ingress was released prior (same company) and was moreso the tech/design base of these types of AR games. Pokemon Go was a template overlay of Ingress as HP:WU is of PoGo. HP:WU is much more detailed and in depth and offers an MMORPG style mechanic that was lacking in the previous 2 games, however.
I would say your #2 point is more on the mark. PoGo has a much larger fan base than HP and that translated into downloads/playtime.
I would add too, that HP:WU is getting a lot of negative reviews (both in the app stores and in the tech and gaming media) due to it's cash-grab model (specifically the energy issue) which might be turning some people away.
