How can you possibly earn 600 ministry xp points whrn you only earn very meagre points. Even doing a fortress challenge only earnt me a max on one occassion when using ministry rune stone, a couple of times I got none. Foundabkes have earned a max of 7. Most are only 3 xp.

Agreed. Niantic definitely messed this one up. I've been playing hard, and managed 130 points so far.
Foundables yield 3 to 7 points. Fortresses with the MOM stone sometimes give 10 and sometimes 0. That means you need a minimum of 60 Fortress challenges or as many as 120 MoM Foundables, plus of course, replenishing your spell energy. (Think about it. My last Fortress challenge used 12 energy, which means I need about 720 energy to complete 60 challenges.)
I just MIGHT complete the 4th level of the assignment, but I don't see how I could possibly complete the bonus level as well.
Niantic, I don't mind things being hard. But do you think you could avoid making them impossible? I lose interest in impossible games quickly.

****, I was hoping I was just doing something wrong. TTDs give a few MoM foundables, but I've done several today and a few Fortress challenges, and am up to 61. I think if I can place an image that will help, but I'm not all that close.
Hopefully I can drive around tomorrow and get all of the MoM traces I can find. This seems like it will be especially hard for people who can't leave home or don't have extra hours and runestones to grind for these.

I, too, am finding this challenge to be a particularly annoying slog. Since it's specifically MOM points, no way to accelerate them with Brain Elixirs. For an understanding of magnitude, it would take: 115 Moody catches, or 160 Bogrods, or 267 Newsstands! Flippin' ridiculous! Trace detection potions help a bit, but not by that much.
At the rate I'm going, I'll be hard pressed to complete 4/4 within the time frame, and I can **** off any bonus challenges.
Add "k i s s" to the banned list, apparently.

Update: well, I hung out in Ruins V and got thru it. Trick is to cash in when you complete foundables. Still a horrid slog.
I made a hundred fifty XP driving around for MoM foundables in 90 minutes (also partly b/c of completed foundables). Sigh. I'll do what I can, but it's not particularly fun.

Came to see if others were facing the same issues. Glad to see I wasn't the only one feeling frustrated and disappointed. Spent TWO HOURS this evening walking around our nearby outlet mall (mask on, social distancing, of course); they have sponsor Inns, and it's a large place, so it's reliable for large numbers of Foundables. I had Traces on for the full run and put down Dark Detectors at one point. Ended up only making it to just short of 400 after all of that work. Don't have enough MoM runestones to make it to the end goal (and at least 2 I used yielded nothing).

Having seen the bonus challenges, some of them look easier. Should've swapped the 600 MoM XP into that section instead. With all the other resources available at that outlet mall, I could've probably finished all of the bonus challenges in the time I spent **** for this one task.
