Hocus Pocus = Focus Focus
I understand how Focus works in respect to hexes and charms. Does the level of Focus we carry into battle also affect damage output in battle (DPS)?

I going to take a stab at this and say yes, it does. Subject to further testing.
Today I engaged a Formidable Werewolf in a level 5 ruin chamber. My first cast hit him for 59 (323/382), I then drank a potent invigorating potion bringing my Focus from +2 to +5. My second cast then hit him for 95 (228/382). About 30% more damage.
I'm also considering quality of cast though I believe the difference in cast between the first and the second didn't differ enough to warrant a 30% increase in damage by itself. This is a difficult one to test and will required repeated attempts to qualify any data.
Time will tell.
I think there’s are some abilities that boost damage when you have more focus but there th an that i’m not sure focus has an effect on damage normally
No. focus alone does not effect damage output https://youtu.be/25mnmIRafNE
Not quite convinced yet. Why allow access to Invigorating potions while in combat if it's only meant to be used while in the 'Octagon' to cast hexes/charms pre-engagement? Access appears to be specific, such as no access to wit-sharpening potion unless you are facing an Elite foe, and other examples of the like.
Ok, i'm conceding. Two reasons. First, I was mistaken about the potions, my screen size being so small I didn't realize I could scroll to find the other potions. My bad. Second, I battled this morning and was deliberate to battle with zero focus, drank enough to drown in during battle with no real discernible differences. Nice to know I can go into battle with zero focus. Less strain on potion usage too. I can work with that. :)
Extra note: aside from landing a critical hit the damage per cast, outside of potions/charms, remains the same. I tested it out several times yesterday trying different casting techniques (fast, slow, neat, sloppy) and my damage remained consistent regardless, same with Protego. Perhaps later they will update some "flare" into but for now it seems to be based on completion for the hit and rolling the dice for the crit. I am still curious about the red orb (incomplete cast marker in traces) thats always present on fortress casts...
