Well @rocketj I wonder when you will be moving on like you say we shoukd. because it seems you can't leave this thread to teach us all how we should feel and what we should do.
NOTE: These are very conservative calculations. It would likely require even more items listed, to recover my lost fragments. The value for the months worth of time is not included I'm these calculations, either.
So... every player in the game is receiving a gift worth about .5% of what many lost. Not even a whole percent!? A fraction of a percent... and awarded to everyone, even those that had gains from the "fixes"! What a slap to the face!
Oops. I forgot to include about 8,000 energy needed. So, add an additional 16,000 gold to the total. 73,700 gold would be required to recover lost fragments.
Sorry I changed my mind. Actually, the more i look at the gift pack, the more i'm happy everyone is getting it. It doesn't even make a dent to what i have right now in my vault. lol. If anyone needs my pack, I'm more than happy to gift it to them lol.
I honestly don't know what i'd have done w/o this sorry excuse of an apology, truly when you have nearly 3000 runes (literally) +45 are greatly appreciated....
this gift is a joke but I can’t laugh... this should compensate some hundred wasted runestones? Not even talking about rare and very rare foundables that were just erased with one update that was supposed to be a fix. I lost every trust in the game and your ability to protect what was there. I will continue playing. I will move on. But I will be very careful with spending any more money. And I have been a paying customer. And I left a disappointed review in the App Store.
This gift pack is a huge bummer. It’s just adding one more upsetting thing to the list of so many (much more) upsetting things going on in the world right now. Obviously, it isn’t anywhere near a pandemic or police brutality, but it still does hurt to see how very little Niantic cares about making up for ruining like six months of my time and money.
Any word on the developer stepping up and offering refunds to affected players? Might be tempted to adjust my 1* rating in the app store if that was the case.
Those that lost, lost more, so it feels like a slap in the face, an excuse for compensation (<1% of value what you lost, not counting time and rarity and indirect losses)
Those that did not lose, or even gained, are happy with the gift of course which they don't really deserve.
Arguably, the most active players (those that were playing between the may 7th sever update and the fixed client update *and* were also playing, probably KBing during the fix a couple weeks later) suffered the most, and probably had the most to lose anyway, as they had placed green stars all over, waiting for that 1 or 2 rare foundables to finally prestige, or having placed them all in gold.
So the more active the player, the more likely to lose during this fiasco, and also the more to have lost.
So many players who are not so active get a free gift again, a minority which is probably more active (maybe even more paying) will feel a kick in the groins.
I truly don't see the reason for this pkg. I don't think any such pkg would be a good compensation. Those that would match the loss would be too much, even if sent out only to those that lost considerable amount of green stars.
What they could have done though, is to do a home edition for hpwu fest (with rare traces, rewarding tasks), and give a free ticket to the players who lost their green stars an apology. Within that context, an additional free pkg with the above contents would actually be a nice gesture, and a show of good faith.
The more I look at the contents of the coming gift pack, the more confused and disappointed I become. This is right up there with 300 XP portkeys from The Darkest of Times as an utterly head-scratching decision that shows complete disconnection from the players. Plenty of people have already pointed out the math on why the gift is nonsensical, so I don't need to rehash that. I just keep getting more disappointed each time I look at how this is being handled.
I still can't prestige any pages! I have the required amount of stuff to prestige, but my game doesn't show where I can do it! I have lost lots of money from this also!
File a small claim @markallen@Suetu for the maximum allowed in your municipality. If Niantic gets enough pressure from a cost perspective, something's gonna give....
Not a SINGLE red book when I probably lost hundreds between the two **** ups. If the new lesson trees use the same books it’s just going to make the whole thing even worse and it’s already pretty bad. Do better @Niantic official JP
The cost to file a Small Claims suit is $75.50 for one defendant and $35 per each additional defendant. There may be additional costs for service to be made on the defendant, which can vary depending on where service is required and what agency must serve the paperwork.

Unfortunately, I can't afford to throw good money after bad.
"You're at a restaurant, they burn your food or drop it, they tell you that sorry they are out of that food now. Instead of going to a different restaurant, you sit there and continually yell at them or tell them they need to change their food storage process."
"Do you think they have not heard your complaints @sup3rfm ? I think they have. How many more times do you need to complain before you think they heard you?
@rocketj I was about to ignore you, but heck, let me bite the bait.
Actually, I paid for the food and I'm wasn't served. I've paid for a filet mignon, it's not even a Kobe steak. They told me that would get my meal. I've waited. I've been told to wait and wait. The manager to wait a couple of times. I stood still. Quiet.
Nothing. No food, nothing. He tells me "Don't worry, we'll sort this out".
After waiting for so long, he finally comes to my table (while others were served the same steak): "You know what? We don't have any more of that filet mignon. Yeah, the cook burned the steak. We don't have it any more, nor we'll get more for you. So, that's settled, can you please leave the restaurant now? Move on"
I make a fuss of it and they say "Hey, it's not THAT bad but... still we're not going to compensate you"
I insist and they finally say "You know what? You are right. Here's a couple of coupons. Have a quarter pounder meal deal at McDonald's and do please continue to visit us!"
See how pathetic your whole justification is? The lenghts you go through white knighting Niantic and WB is impressive. You must be a pro at it.
I'll complain as many times as I think it's fair. It's their job as a service provider to serve customers in an efficient way. If we were all like you, we'd be happy to be treated as disposable asset, as a pawn. If you're happy like that, so be it, have fun.
I honestly would not like to be in the shoes of whoever it is that has to make the bridge between the company and the players at the moment. Having to weigh words knowing that what happened was wrong and having to vouch for the wrong side.. yeah well. I hope everyone finds their way around, and gaming industry in general goes back to vouching for the customer and striving for good quality works, not licking the boots of investors. Here's to hope someday they see that a happy/satisfied customer is more likely to spend!
@rocketj just stop posting. You are acting like a troll; just trying to get people that are already angry, even more angry. You comments and further fueling the fire are not welcome. People lost months worth of progress, so they deserve the right to vent. You don't have to make it even worse by trying to contradict everything they say.

Well @rocketj I wonder when you will be moving on like you say we shoukd. because it seems you can't leave this thread to teach us all how we should feel and what we should do.
Total value for the pack: 475 + 150 + 100 + (5 * 75) = 1,100 gold
(not putting a value on the runestones, since there is no comparable item in the market).
Total cost to recover lost fragments:
105 Dark Detectors: 1400 * 7
500 Potent Extimulo Potions (Traces and Challenges) 500 * 75
48 Trace Tonics: 12 * 220
200 Bag of Runestones: 200 * 40
(1400 * 7) + (500 * 75) + (12 * 220) + (200 * 40) =
9800 + 37500 + 2400 + 8000 = 57700 gold

@Drakonite You miscalculated. It is 3*5 Runestones... so you only 15
So well articulated @MtPollux - thank you for that!
will it be safe to tap on the giftpack, or will it destroy our vaults too? better start taking screenshots of your vaults!! 💡
What a joke. Guess I know what game I won't be spending my money on!
@BenTiger , did you go to Indy-fest last year?
@hpwulola Well, not happy....but that
said, has anyone seen this "gift" pack yet?
I have not.
I believe it will be available Monday @Fireboltraven
@Fireboltraven It will likely be released tomorrow. The announcement was just to list the contents.
EDIT: @rocketj is probably more accurate with Monday, as their staff is gone over the weekend.
I guess I simply cannot believe they can't put a green star next to all of my foundables.
Level 48, went to Indy from Atlanta, placed images on everything at least once, prestiged everything at least once.
Makes zero sense.
the main problem is to recover masses of fragments. Especially rare and very rare fragments.
The best way to do so are dark eyes. So....why are they not in the package?
More capacity is nice but does not help anything
To make the slap in the face, I mean Gift Pack, easier to understand:

Here's a situation where a game developer accidentally deleted player DB information, but handled the situation marvelously. They messed up, admitted it very frankly, communicated well, remedied to the best of their ability, and turned the whole catastrophe into a themed in-game time travel event.
I still can't prestige any pages! I have the required amount of stuff to prestige, but my game doesn't show where I can do it! I have lost lots of money from this also!
Thanks @Suetu, unfortunately that's exactly the response I'd expect from them.
