Greetings, any one know at what level in the fortress do we start battling formidable Pixies? I'm at level 7 and I haven't seen them yet...

I don't want to be the guy who says search, but search the forum.
Why? Because we don't yet have a good solid answer. There are a lot of theories that have been posted that are worth a read.
I'm at 7 of 10.
I find the Pixies to be very formidable. They're right up there with Violent Femmes from the genre. I really do think they're underrated.
Sorry guys. I know that contributed nothing to this thread but I couldn't help it.
Most often the necessary pixy met me on the sixth floor. Helped quite a few comrades to close this quest, pixies on the sixth floor come across not every time, but quite often.
I Found them in floor 3-4-5 and 6 too. Most of them came from 6 tho(tower lvl 1).
I met one on 5th level
Runes affect foes as well. Try using oddity runes in combinations with dungeon level
I watched a video on youtube from a guy named Wizards News where he tried to research this. He said based on his findings, the best bet was going to be in chamber 4 with either a level 1 or level 2 runestone. Hope that helps!
I found that having two professors on level 5 with any stone and they will spawn. We got the 10 in about an hour
Level 4 has been the best bet for me too!
I have tried all levels with different runes and nothing. I got a pixie, but not the right kind?!?!?! Ugh!!!
Here's what worked for us;
2 professors, chamber 4, two runestones totaling 5
This resulted in a difficulty around 600 and we saw plenty of formidable foes with only a few imposing foes. We don't have enough data to determine if rune type played an effect but we feel that Care of Magical Creatures, Magizoology and Oddities may have resulted in more pixies of all levels.
We collected about 10 in about 2 hours of active tower time.
PS Epic Formidable Pixies are soul crushing disappointments.

I just completed catching 10 Formidable Pixies. I caught them in chamber 2 and 3. I only saw Horned Pixies above chamber 3.
@DharkhenRhall what level runestones were you using and were you solo?
I found those pesky pests in Chambers ii and iii at random while soloing the 'tress. Runes 1&2 of oddities is best IMHO.

most of the Pixies have been found on L3&4 Fortress with L1&2 Runes
Did tower 6 twice with 2 other wizards, got 3 Pixies both times. The problem was that only the person who engages them gets the quest credit for killing them, so on the second run we rationed them out.
Seems a bit harsh, especially as a Professor can blow them away in two hits.
I wonder if the Development Team might consider adding a group quest credit feature, seeing as teamwork is the nature of the Wizard Challenges.
You can mostly stumbled upon them in L4 Fortress with L1 Runestones.
i found most of my ten on ruins level 4 and 5 using level 1 and 2 runestones.
occasionally i see one on tower level 1 using level 1 runestones but more often i get an imposing something instead.
I completed the 10 formidable pixie SOS challenge by using all level 1 runestones in level 3 of the fortress. Took 41 tries to get all 10.
It is most helpful when talking about your successes to add in which profession you are. I am an auror and I haves been **** away on lvls 2-3 with lvl one runestones forever. Probably at least 60 challenges and I just got my 6th tonight. I am going to focus moving forward on tower lvl 4 and 5 as I am seeing formidable level foes more on 4.
Keep it up. So far i am a 0/10. Struggle is real as an Auror but will keep at it! I will try some of these tips too!
For me, Rune chamber V and Tower chamber VI were the best for getting formidable pixies as an Auror.
I never noticed it until today, over a month later, but it needs to be said. @Craeft's comment wins the internet, which means all subsequent comments were rendered invalid by default. I'm sorry, I don't write the rules, I just enforce them.

For me as an auror worked a Rune oddity level 1 at the fortress level 6 (tower chamber 1).
You have to be a Professor. I tried forever as a Auror and didn't find a single one. I found all 10 in Ruins level 5 as a Professor. Doesn't matter which runes stone.
I've just had one on Ruins 2 when I dont need them anymore...
I'm a professor and from Rune Chamber 1 up through Tower Chamber 1 all I see are common or imposing... no formidable. I've tried all the advice here and about 6 hours but no formidable pixies.
I’m a solo Magizoologist player so completing this task was quite annoying. But I found that pixies in general appeared more often around dusk onwards, though I wasn’t playing much when it was night in the game. I mainly went in fortress levels four to eight for the task. I’ve seen them in the higher fortress levels as well and I mainly used level 1 and 2 runestones. I have seen them in the first three chambers at least, but I haven’t unlocked all the levels of the fortress to comment on the rest.
Also another note, I came across an elite formidable pixie as well, but it didn’t count towards the task. I wasn’t exactly happy, but I did complete the task eventually.
