Freeloaders in challenges
Since the Knight Bus opened up, I have really been enjoying doing challenges with different people. However, more and more it seems that there are freeloaders who go into a high level Forest or Dark chamber and then do nothing - no spells, and don't engage one foe. They get the points for finishing, but don't even use a single energy, while the rest of the players have to use more in a effort to finish in time. Is there a way to require that anyone in a challenge must at least conquer 1 foe or cast 2 spells or something? It is starting to get very frustrating!

I come here occasionally to get news/information. I’m making this my first post for two reasons: (1) I agree - I’ve been very frustrated on the occasions when it seems to happen, and (2) I’m pretty sure I was just THAT person.
I was hanging out in a Forest Chamber waiting area with ~1.5 minutes left when I got an unexpected important phone call. I accepted the call, force-closed WU immediately, and then reopened WU when off the phone to be greeted by a Victory screen.
I was beyond livid with myself. In hindsight, I completely knew better than to force close the app without first leaving the lobby - after all, that’s how we rejoin a battle when we get the Error Message of Doom.
I wanted to share with you that, while some may be doing this intentionally, this scenario is also probably happening to others on occasion. Let me be that cautionary tale. I want to get the word out to remind people to leave the waiting area, don’t just leave the app.
To the people stuck with me on that one, I’m terribly sorry!
@SeaChle, Hi welcome to the forum. Whether by book, movie, or game, all are welcome! Thank you for your comment. I would like to say to you and the other players... Life happens, phone calls that we have to take, children, pets or other real life thing happens that need our immediate attention. ( I fortressed with a player named mommyisbusy ! I laughed so hard I scared my cat!)
For those reasons we should be kind to our fellow players. I try to always give other players the benefit of the doubt, at least once. I've still encountered some bugs in fortressing that required hard restarting the app, even after the most recent update fix. Yes, there are some players out there that are along for the ride. One of my groups (of 4players) had a player follow us thru a few dark chambers who did indeed nothing thru several battles. We caught on and just didn't leave time for the other play on last round.
Control what you can and enjoy playing. @SeaChle Hope to see you in a fortress soon.
Be healthy, be well, be safe and Happy Pottering
Thank you for the warm welcome, @Owlx ! Yep, I generally try to give others the benefit of the doubt because there are so many things that can affect participation in a given chamber. And that’s why I shared my story - to help players remember that sometimes a human on the other end of the screen just makes a regrettable mistake.
But, ooohhh, to follow people through chambers and do nothing... that is oh-so dastardly!
just as bad are the deserters who bug out in middle of battle ... sure, they lose a runestone and get no reward, but they have greatly increased the chances that their remaining teammates will not succeed because the initial total foe count was set based on initial number on the team, including the deserters. the remaining teammates have to expend more spell energy and maybe potions too, with a lower chance to succeed, for same reward. that is dastardly too.
i keep my list and y’all should too. if i see those deserters in the lobby, i’ll pass and wait for a different battle without them.
