Regarding the 2.13 Update

Hi everyone, thank you for your patience with the 2.13 Update. We know that there are a lot of questions and we wanted to provide a brief overview of the update, issues we saw, and timeline for next steps.
Update 2.13 included two big features: Repeat Sticker Collection and an update to Fragment Counts. We intended for this update to redistribute players’ current Registry collections and allow them to place Images or Prestige wherever possible, as well as carry over Fragments to the updated page after Prestige.
While releasing the update and standardizing Fragment counts, players reported that Fragments didn’t carry over after the page was Prestiged. Instead, Fragment counts reset to zero. This wasn’t the intended behavior with this change, but we believed updating to 2.13 would reconcile the issue. Messaging was sent out to prevent more players from placing Stickers or Prestiging Registry Pages before downloading Update 2.13. However, we acknowledge that there are a number of players who were impacted by this issue before we sent out this advice.
Update 2.13 became available in the app stores around 1 PM PDT, and it resolved the issue players saw earlier after Prestiging a Registry Page. Unfortunately, we received reports of a different issue with Update 2.13 where a Foundable’s Fragment count restarted at 0 following the placement of its Image in the Registry. This behavior was different than what we intended so we released a fix that took effect at 10 PM PDT, which would prevent the issue from affecting Images that are placed in the future. We recognize that there are players who could have placed Images and experienced this issue before the fix went live.
We will continue to evaluate the issues with the 2.13 release in more depth. In the coming week, we’ll be defining our next steps including a resolution to players who were impacted by these issues.
Thank you all for your patience as we worked through this release. Your feedback was very helpful and allowed us to troubleshoot these live issues. Currently, these are the other Known Issues we are tackling:
- Repeat Image appearing on Brilliant Foundables gained from task completion on Event Registry pages. This should only appear on Brilliant Foundables found from Traces, Portkeys, and Fortresses.
- Repeat Image feature appearing on Mysteries pages
- Knight Bus button is missing or unresponsive
- Delay when entering a Chamber Lobby in Wizarding Challenges

Event registry image (brilliant event?) is not supposed to be repeat placed?
Or is just the tasks image (the one with just single image (1/1)?
Well if BE images aren't supposed to be repeatedly placed I guess I've gotten nowhere either🤦🏼♀️ This whole thing is way more confusing than it should be
Clarifying:
1) You said one fix was done at 1pm PDT and another patch to not make fragments go to zero when images were placed was done at 10pm. Whet DAY did you do this? I updated about 4pm yesterday (5/7/20 PDT), but when I look in the iOS app store now, there is no update avaiable.
2) My fragment count still goes to zero when I place an image.
3) When I prestige just one foundable, and the count goes to zero, do we have to get that foundable again in order to prestige the entire registry? Or do the counts of what we get "roll over" to the next prestige level - as long as the green star is next to the foundable?
4) Most of my registry pages have red dots. They really want me to click on the glimmering foundables. But I'm not going to do that if it's just going to reset my fragments. I've actually seen advice to NOT do this. If that's the case, is there a way we can make the dots go away, so I can tell if there really is something new?
5) I'm going to reiterate: MY FRAGMENT COUNT STILL GOES TO ZERO WHEN I PLACE AN IMAGE.
It would be really nice if you had an explainer telling us what you are after. I just opened my app yesterday and everything was red and lit up. Then I got a notice saying there was an error. And since none of us knew what you were doing, people didn't understand how it went wrong. Bring your writers into the process.
Also, I don't know what to do in this situation. As you can see, all of these badges have the maximum fragments. And it's a bronze registry. But there is not way for me to level up the entire page. Why not? All of these badges are shimmering, but why would I prestige them one by one?
same @VoiceMaster I had no idea anything was wrong after the update and assumed if it was shimmering I should tap it, yet there was nowhere to prestiege the page as usual. I've had to recatch all the BE foundables even though they say placed so I'm paranoid now that placing my stuff is just setting me back further. Now I have to recatch everything!! Not gonna be done in time for the end of the event
@VoiceMaster The second update that happened at night was a server side fix. There was no new client.
For people who did not get the warning and prestiged, is it safe for us to continue collecting fragments or should we stop playing until a solution is found and announced?
I personally am not playing until they fix it for me.
@VoiceMaster If you have the required number of fragments as shown in your screenshot, the fragment should shimmer. If you click it ONCE it should "mini prestige" that fragment and place it in the registry, it will then get a green star next to the count. When each fragment has a green star next to it, then you can prestige the whole page in the normal manner.
Niantic we need to know if those of us who prestiged BEFORE the update should stop playing just now or if we can carry on playing? You must let us know, it's been well over 38 hours since I prestiged and the lack of communication is disappointing.
@hpwulola Okay, I'm going to start by telling you a story...
I don't do forums normally. I only joined this one after the update. In fact I'm only actively involved in one other forum.
You might notice from my username that I run a gaming store. (My username is a throwback to the start of Pokemon Go, where it had to match the account I already had on the Pokemon website to run Pokemon TCG events.)
The other forum I'm active on? There's a major hobby brand that runs a forum like this, exclusively for retailers. It's run by one employee who deserves a medal. He often has to (because it's his job) tell us stuff we're not happy with. He can on occasion be looking down at 200 negative comments within a few minutes on his posts. Of course, we're not shy about giving our thoughts because it affects our livelihoods - the negativity on this forum the last couple of days is a cakewalk by comparison.
And do you know what? He answers everybody. Whether he can tell people what they want to hear or not. He replies to everyone.
I guess the reason you're not answering many of the concerns is because you don't have the authority to. You either need to get that authority or get someone on here who does have it quickly.
So I'm going to make an assumption here. I'm guessing the WU team suddenly came upon some sort of massive internal pressure to increase player numbers. Whether that came from Niantic Senior Management, Warner Bros or sponsors, I can only guess.
And the only way you could think to do that quickly was to make the game massively easier, in order to engage more existing casual players and attract new ones.
That's created two massive problems for you. Firstly it was done too quickly. Without enough thought, communication or testing. And that's lead to countless glitches and problems.
Secondly, reading the responses, it's drawn a marmite response. Without counting, I'm guessing at least half the respondees are unhappy with what's been done to the game. I won't deny though, that some players are very happy with it.
But here's the thing. Like I said, I work in the gaming industry and I've seen a few times what happens when half of a player base are unhappy with something that happens to a game they love. It dies. And in fact you're in a worse position than that, since it's predominantly your most engaged players that are most unhappy.
So what we need right now is for you (or someone else) to be sharing every step of the thought process with us as you try and solve the problems you have. Communicate. The social media channels have gone silent. The admin posts on here have been, at best, sporadic. Niantic Help on Twitter seems far more concerned about an in game message duplicating in Pokemon Go. Communicate. Only that way do you have half a chance of getting through this.
@hpwulola appreciate your message but i'd like to focus on a thing: your most valuable player are unhappy and this is a problem. I completely agree with @BusStopToyShop , please, no more lack of communication! Please, communicate in the clearest way possibile!
I lost many fragments (buckbeak, dumbledore and many others) and this is a problem (for me and for you) but if you say "sorry for this, very sorry", uhm, ok, it doesn't matter, i feel upset but I'm sure it'll pass. Whatever happens in there, this is all about the experience but,
please, communicate!
@hpwulola I am loving the update! The idea is great! Yes I prestiged everything before the warning message and yes I lost fragments but before the change, they were not “lost”, they were simply what I needed to get to the next level. I appreciate all your hard work! I know it did not go well, but I also know you will weather through the storm!
I have at least 10 pages that restared at zero tuff luck im a level 43 and have work very hard to get their play every day every chance ib get was starting to get boerd whit it ... but im ever so excited to start the day whit new perspective and discover the ever changing worl of wizard unit so thankful for the game made me and my loved one closer love it ✌️
Hi I usually come in the forum only to see news or very interesting ideas about the game and the player base but here i am to join my voice to the players.
This is unacceptable. I won't repeat what others have said because well I too have lost like 5 Dumbledore and yeah it's pretty rare. I have lost all Freds and Georges from CD (thanks for making us farm all day for naught and use lots of potions) and not to mention my challenge confoundables (wands among others lol) and countless others.
But I will add this : the new system is screwing the old for BE. If i'm not mistaken, when we manage to spell cast a confoundable that we don't have at max we earn 3 Family Points for each. When we place the image, the count resets automatically to 0 (no option message to know IF we want to roll over), we get 5 FP. If we don't place it but we're at max, we get 4 FP. So if the math are correct
old way : 3*15 + 5 = 50 FP then after image is placed 4*15 = 65 FP
new way : 3*15 + 5 = 50 FP then after prestige it resets 3*15 + 5 = 50 FP.
So we lose 15 FP for the same amount of confoundables returned once the foundable has been placed.
Where's the incentive in prestiging brilliant foundables while the event is up?
Also I'd say that all images visible once we placed the foundable a single time is not welcomed for my part. First it's far less intuitive to know which foundable I'm missing. And 2nd like difficulty lowered for challenge foundables, it's far less engaging. I mean, the goal of prestiging a page was to both have a new border through hard work AND having a clean board. Since gold borders, let's be honest, is no longer an achievement and having a full painting by collecting all the required foundables isn't either anymore... what is? What's the point of the game? I don't even care about it prestiging anymore, it has just become an option to consider. I'm pretty sure that if I am farming now as I farmed before and considering you won't take any more foundables from my account, I'll have finished the entire game by December... (have almost finished 2 professions and the 3rd require green books for the most part).
It was fun to see an image evolving the closer we got to placing it...
Another thing @hpwulola, and I'd like an answer pretty quick because I think the losing part of rare foundables is much more ugly than we'd thought. I encountered a Philosopher Stone today. It's one of the rare pages I didn't prestige and I didn't cash in my 8 extras under last update. I had 18/33, now to prestige to Silver, the amount required is 10. I managed to successfully return it (because xp), the result screen showed me -8. So now am I back the 10 Philosopher Stone? Or do I have 19? What is going on? Are you afraid to lose money for a day? Would you guys shut the game, playtest and fix this? I didn't even have time to process the scam and screen this but now I am afraid to try and get another rare to show the possible mistake.
For others, i recommend not to play but to finish the BE only. Prestige only the Nimbus 2000 and Angelina J. I'm definitly not sure we can continue playing the game, everytime i touch my screen i fear i might destroy my progress, it's like a time bomb.
Your update isn't bad in itself but it's so poorly executed, communicated AND badly timed, it's been ages everybody said 50+ extreme rarities was nonsense and you're doing something (very simple to program) about it only now, about a year later. Your ability to bring new players into this game will cost you if you don't do anything about it, I garantee you (and yeah, I am a day 1 player too).
I apologize @hpwulola but I was one of those people that prestiged all those pages before the message came out to not prestige them. So I lost 100’s of fragments. Can you let me know when this might be fixed? And thank you kindly.
I too was impacted by the prestige issues and look forward to your resolution.
Also, the delay entering has gotten much worse on Pixel3 and Poxel3a hone, went from annoying 3-5 seconds to a now quite frustrating 15 or so seconds. The is most annoying with the Knight Bus. Hard to join others in chambers as the battle starts often while trying to join. Look for forward to a resolution to this as well in the near future

I can't play until you fix this for us who prestiged before the message to wait. I'm deeply disappointed by the support message I received, basically saying you can't help. If this goes through without a fix, you will lose a paying customer. I had fun playing, but it's unfair that my dedication is going to waste. I can't support a game that does that. I had faith that you would fix this, but as it drags on, my faith is waning. We need better communication.
Why do I get the feeling that they are not going to do anything about the lost fragments?.

Just got, as in 3min ago, a notification regarding Knight Bus availability. I've not been able to access it since the 2.13 update. Well, I closed and restarted the game and gave it a tap! Got nothing more than a click, so I did the "headslap" and searched for an update at the play store...nope, so I checked for assets...nope. Anybody else?
@Dextraone Definitely a ton of posts online saying unistall the game and then reinstall fixed the Knight bus for them - give that a try if you haven't already. I don't have Knight Bus issues so can't say for sure but that's the word from others.
The update caused the map and traces to stop responding to touch on an iPhone 8. Reloaded the game several times, but nothing has changed. On iPhone 11 the Night Bus stopped working., then the rest of the game froze up. Restarting the game allowed me to keep playing, but the Night Bus still doesn’t respond to touch. iPhone 8 at level 46, 32 for iPhones 11
If we prestiged early, can we continue playing normally?? I've played every day since launch and afraid all that hard work is gone or will be gone if I for example place a fragment
The AR feature will not turn off in the fortress. I've tried everything. Since the update everything must be searched and aligned. Its very tedious when **** D5 with my team.
@ClairabusGryff I too was one of those players who’s game magically allowed you to place and prestige, and then 45 minutes later, a message popped up that said not to prestige anything. @hpwulola please find the time in you apparently busy schedule to give all of us impacted players an update and a time frame as to if/when this issue will be fixed. I’ve spent countless hours and time and energy to get to where I was just to have my progress thrown out the window by a poorly timed message about a glitch. This is my favorite game, yet there are moments when I want to throw my phone and give up. @BusStopToyShop is completely correct on all points stated.
Please fix this before you lose the devoted players you have now frustrated.

What does this even mean? @hpwulola said they did second update after they figured out foundable counts were going to zero. That update didn't work, since it's still happening to many of us. I don't care what the fix was. I care that it didn't work.

Not loving this update. Doesn't feel like you ever finish a page now as it keeps repeating to zero. Couldn't you just update to Platinum? Also I can't figure out which foundables are complete or not as when engaging the fragment counter doesn't show a distinction between 'starred' ones or not. Image shows one I've already completed. I also don't know why feature is attached to BE? Revert back to previous version...pretty please
I'm getting a definite, "Sorry, not sorry," vibe from this. I don't think us highly active, highly invested players will be getting any help for having been so eager to play that we prestiged and lost fragments. Player numbers trumps losing a few valuable players from the sound of it.
I just wanted to add that the lack of explanation about how the game works from the beginning lost a lot of players who signed on because they were Harry Potter fans, or Pokemon players. There are still things I don't know about the game, after playing every day since August. What are the squares under the players' icons in challenges, for instance? What does prestiging actually get you? I've been doing it here and there, but not focusing on it. How do you get the rarer potions - which I only discovered existed when I discovered the Wizards Unite Hub about a month ago. Seriously, clear explanation has not been a hallmark of this game since the beginning. Because of that, you lost the casual players immediately. I only stayed with it 'cause my mom was in the hospital and I needed something to do. Then it became part of my day. Now I'm not angry that I may have lost lots of hard work. I'm confused about how the game is supposed to be played now and don't know what to do. We need clarity.
