I am stuck on the part where I have to defeat 10 formidable pixies. The problem is that I am an auror and they won’t spawn. I got an elite formidable pixie to spawn but that didn’t count. So frustrating!!!
I'm also having this difficulty. After days of playing (about 4 hours total), I found 2 at Ruins chamber 4 using 2 different kinds of level 2 runes. I Googled and found a video of a You Tuber who found 2 in 5 battles at Level 4 with a level 1 rune. But I think he might have been a professor?
I think it's just going to take awhile. Algorithms!
I am an Auror too and I have tried to switch my profession to a Professor and I have noticed a significant increase of Formidable Pixie spawns in challenges (mostly in Ruins Chambers 4-5). I am not 100% sure if your profession truly affects your encounters in fortresses, but in any case teaming up with fellow wizards increases your chances of encountering formidable pixies, since more foes are available if more than one wizard enter the challenge. Having that in mind, and also the fact that later tasks (as far as I know) are to team up with 3 wizards in a challenge and defeat 10 Formidable Death Eaters, I guess that promoting cooperation spirit is what SOS tasks try to do.

just keep at it - if you start spawning a lot of imposing level creatures either lower your rune level or lower your fortress level to get back solidly into formidable level spawns.
by a lot of wizarding challenges i mean it took over 200 to find all ten. currently at 414 wizarding challenges won, and never lost one yet, so almost half my total wizarding challenges were spent in search of those ten formidable pixies.
Professor here! Lvl 24 and I probably average 12-15 fortress battles a day or at least I did til I ran out of stones yesterday...
As far as I can tell there is no correlation between your Class and the opponents you fight. I see equal amounts of dark, beast and curiosities. From what I recall it seemed like lvl4-5 gave the best spawn rates and I'm fairly certain I was using Lvl1 stones at the time.
i was lulled into a false sense of security by getting a formidable pixie on my first challenge after being assigned the task. 50 challenges later I’m still on 1/10 ....

In one of them you should get items from werwolves, and they're available just in these 2-3 days. They will respawn 1 month later on the other full moon.
Same as Overflow. Just got my last three in level 4 ruins this morning. REally hoping to get to the werewolf sos before they vanish this month. I’m curious if more people started reporting by profession where they’re finding them, we’d start to see a trend by profession. NOt sure if that kind of info is out there already.
I was tripping over gormidable pixies till i needed them. Your chances greatly improve as a professor in chamber4 rune 1. So i spent some scrolls and got up to Professor 4 ...im going in to knock them out today (so i can progress to my werewolf hair before the moon runs out!) I'll let you know.
@Calondywyll I also was in that stage of trying to finish the pixies in time to get the werewolf hair. I just got my quest for the werewolf hair just now, so I'm planning to go run out and get it tonight!
Some notes though that I was not aware of so you're best prepared. Once you think you are getting close to getting all your pixies, be mindful of your potions. You will need to brew up 7 potions for the quest in between the pixie one and the werewolf one. I had some LONG potions set up (I'm talking like...3 baruffio;s brain elixirs) so make sure you are ready to post a bunch of short potions like Exstimulos or healing potions.
The other thing I wasn't aware of...you have to be level 20 to receive the quest for the werewolf hair. So make sure to be leveling up to get ready if you aren't already there.

Have they changed the likelihood of the pixies? I got my remaining 8 this evening, waiting for werewolves to come out. One challenge even had two formidable pixies in! 'Night' starts very late here at this time of year. I don’t think I’ll get to the werewolf hair task in time though, 7 potions in the intermediate task will slow me down too much. Still I got my wolf on the page. And incidentally a fair start on the brilliant event!

It's just a hard task. If you team up you have better odds as long as you don't team up with someone who also needs pixies.
At rank 6 / tower 1 I found plenty formidable pixies.

As a Professor, I did tower 6 twice with 2 other wizards (Magi & Auror), we got 3 Pixies both times.
The problem was that only the person who engages them gets the quest credit for killing them, so on the second run we rationed them out.
Seems a bit harsh, especially as a Professor can blow them away in two hits.
I wonder if the Development Team might consider adding a group quest credit feature, seeing as teamwork is the nature of the Wizard Challenges.

It's possible still. I'm an auror and it took me a week. Patience and commitment! It's worth the extra fun times!

I'm a professor and after 73 fortress battles I'm 3/10. So I doubt your class has any influence on it.

I finished mine, phew!! I was lucky...got mine Inn 32 battles. Ruins Chamber IV with Level 1 and 2 Runes, and Ruins Chamber V with Level 1 Runes.
