Having no ID profile picture not available on the friends list makes it seem incomplete and unengaging ..... please make this possible !

Yes it seems odd to go through all that trouble  making  a fancy  portrait just that you only see,  the devs need a prod I think changing this , I've spoke to others who feel the same

If they were public, it wouldn't be long at all before there were nudes floating around. Would be very difficult to police.

In answer to WHITEHORSEMATT , They shouldn't be public if its only visible on just the games friends list....if the devs continue to keep profile pictures blank as they are the whole purpose of creating a Wizarding ID picture is rather pointless, we already have much choice in wand making and being able to choose one's house yet none of this makes a jot of difference to gameplay .......

I only have Friends that are folks I know, or at most, Friends of Friends. Which means I'm fairly confident I won't open my game and see a [censored]. Maybe people should be more choosy with where they post their Friend Code and/or who they send an Invite out too.

    🤷🏻‍♀️

Still hoping for an update that allows friends to see each other's Ministry ID photos. Anyone heard if the Devs are considering it?

@HPWULola Any updates on this feature? Still kinda frustrating to have all these options to make a Ministry ID that no one on your friend’s list can see. More concerning I think is the fact that the stats don’t even show up aside from km walked.

Also, I know the HP universe is rooted in England and I love that. But would developers consider adding an option to choose whether you track in miles or km? I know it’s lazy and before anyone gets upset- I wish I was taught the metric system from childhood; it is definitely superior. However, it would be nice for American players to have an option to select what units we want to display portkey/walking distances in. Unfortunately it’s just something you get used to. I know converting it doesn’t take much, but it would be nice to have nonetheless.

@Herm10neG92 although walking 10 miles for a Paramount portkey would be 16km! I don't want them to delay my trip to honeydukes!! 😁

Oh @Shailan, I would assume they would keep the distances equal, might not have as pretty numbers but oh well. This is probably just me being peak lazy on my two week break from grad school though 😅 Zero desire to do any unit conversions

It's all well to say you personally woud never friend anyone you don't know in real life, but that's not how most people play this sort of game. Especially if someone is going toward the "have x friends" achievement, they're likely to pick up a code off an internet group. Then consider that eventually there are likely to be boosts exchanged amond gane friends. Look at how many friend code threads there are on this forum alone. If people were only adding people they already know, the exchanges would be happening in person, not on message boards.

Younger players are even less likely to curate their friends, and those are exactly the group Warner Brothers/Niantic really do not want exposed to inapproproate images. All it takes is one moral panic news story about a kids game having shocking images sent to underage players and... well that's a Public Relations headache they just don't need.

I was surprised when the customization came in the form of filters instead of an avatar. A big part of the reason a lot of games use dress-up-doll type avatars is because it allows a controlled amount of self-expression. I guarantee that every time a new style or outfit is added to one of these games, it's been thoroughly vetted to make sure it can't be manipulated or combined to make something that would scare the parents, right along with the tests for clipping errors.
