I noticed that two of the missing foundables are a baby-acromantula and a tree stump which both have 3 fragments. Does anyone know if these traces are rare? Do you need to activate a dark detector to spawn them? Do they only spawn during a certain time of day?

Brilliant Buckbeak - found on the map like a normal traceable
Brilliant Unicorn - same as Buckbeak
Brilliant Scorched Tree Stump - rewarded for completing the second page of event assignments
Brilliant Young Acromantula - Fragments randomly awarded for completing wizard challenges while using the brilliant runestones.
Brilliant "Lizard Thing" (haven't actually gotten it yet) - rewarded for completing the 4th page of assignments
Brilliant "Living Log" (lower left item, haven't gotten it yet) - I assume you'll get fragments for this from the event specific "brilliant" portkeys.

Brilliant Snargaluff (aka "living log") comes from the portkeys. I got all 3 of mine from the new 7km event portkeys but not sure if those are the only ones that will give this or not.
okay... I have 5 brilliant runestones left and so far zero Acromantulas. Am I doing something wrong?
@DoctorFoxmeat They appear randomly. It's unforfunately a luck a the draw. I got lucky and got my last one this morning. I got them on both level 4 & level 5 of the fortress so I think it truly is random when it drops. Good luck!
