Spawn fewer "returned" foundables

Simple request: Spawn fewer foundables that have been fully returned.

Details: We now have the ability to alter spawns per player. And, the story of the calamity tells us that once you have returned all the parts of a foundable, the foundable is returned.

Conclusion: I should be seeing only the non-returned ones, right?

So, if you are in a fortress battle, your reward should always be a fragment that you have not already finished, unless everything is finished.

And, if you are on the map, map traces for foundables that you have "maxed out" should be re-rolled at least once, giving a higher chance of foundables that are not returned.

"Spawns per Player" is only valid for TTD. All other spawns are shared.

Also, your suggestion assumes that a Fragment for an already returned Foundable is undesirable. I disagree with that.

First, we now know that after this last event, that no longer has to be the case. People have reported that if you were on different stages of that event, even without a TTD, you saw different things.

Second, I've noticed that since I've leveled up a lot, and gotten more things returned, I'm now seeing more red things. I'm now seeing emergency and severes that I did not see when I was a new player, so I'm actually wondering if some "really hard" spawns were just hidden or not shown to me when I was beginning to play.

Besides, if all you ever saw were things you don’t have yet, you would (A) rarely see anything at all, and that would (B) change the mechanics of the game entirely. That’s like saying I only want lottery scratch-offs that are winners.

Take a look at what we are told about the calamity, and unreturned foundables needing to be returned many times to get all their pieces returned. Once something has been returned, and is no longer subject to the calamity?

Story wise, it makes sense to not see "uniques" after they are returned. Other things are inherently not unique -- a generic student from house X, for example.

    My actual recommendation was:

1 - Do not give out duplicates of returned fortress challenge items. There's already too many things to get in fortresses.

2 - Reroll a "returned" map trace at least once to reduce (not eliminate) already returned things.

The combination of these? Easier to prestige pages.

Once you've actually prestiged everything? Well, you'll keep getting stuff that' you've alrady returned until new pages are opened up. And we know that they will do that, we've gotten how many new pages in that big family? :-)

I've explained what you report here to an acquaintance and asked what he thought of this. What he explained to me is that overall there are 2 types of foundables:

    • Conditional Foundables that spawn but are only visible to the players that meet the conditions
    • Unconditional Foundables that spawn and are visible to each and every player

Further, he explained that Conditional Foundables can have different Conditions attached to them, including (but not limited to):

    • Player-Level being above a certain threshold
    • TTD being active
    • The player being in a certain stage of a certain quest

So to explain that in other words: If you activate a TTD, the traces that you see aren't spawned specifically for you. Instead they have always been there but you couldn't see them because you didn't have a TTD active before.

That also means that Traces aren't rerolled. You're merely seeing different traces of the same family that happen to be in roughly the same place.

Coincidently, that supports what @MrSciGuy wrote. If you're asking for one of the conditions to be "player hasn't placed that foundable" then you'll see much fewer foundables.

@Keybounce Take your original request to the end point. You see fewer and fewer spawns until you eventually stop seeing any at all.

    Then what?

Last might one of the TTD potions I used spawned all event foundables. I have the page complete and am at max rank.

Instead of moaning about the unfairness of it I appreciated the scrolls and runestones.

Yes, I appreciated the scrolls even though I'm at 11.3k.

The runestones are great for quicky fortresses which I'm now doing to return runestone gifts in this apocalyptic time.

Returning common trash is not too bad indeed. I appreciate runestones as I still haven’t even reached gold on most of the pages and that’s about halfway to finish them. I still need thousands more to get it all.

But honestly, scrolls are just trash. A number that grows as you keep on playing. 😁

My personal take on this is:

Fortress foundables: should always be something you still need. If you completed all foundables of that family/challenge category, then dupes are ok. There's a ton of stuff to get even if you raid often.

Map foundables: there should be at least a distinction between what we have and what we don't, which should be seen immediately from the map - dimmed coloring, shinier/prettier looking, whatever, more or less transparent, **** there could be even personal options for this, to also cater for color blind folks and so on.
