First Task Should Not Require Having Spell Energy Space
New Brilliant event requires collecting energy from the map, but only counts the successful collection, not the attempt.
In preparation, to avoid going out (we have a shelter in place restriction), players stocked up on energy from daily tasks. Unlike collecting from Inns, where it counts if you make the attempt, you must have available space to successfully collect the spell energy.
This makes no sense, during this time where players are urged to avoid leaving the house, since all the spell energy that they have to deplete just to finish this will need to be replenished.

I agree. This is a terrible idea. The attempt to collect should count, even if you are not eligible for energy.
Since I have been stuck at home, I have been collecting my 10 energy per day and am now over 100 full. It would cost me 4000 coins to expand my capacity. There is no way for me to use all that spell energy - there's no greenhouse near me.
I essentially cannot play this event and that's a shame
I recommend using TTD, then using your SE to catch traces. My guess is that in 6 days you’ll have gone through at least 100 SE.
I am here to agree with @Dewin99 I did a few tonics today and ended up having to purchase spell energy because I ran out!
