Hi @SoulPowerX , I'm new with Magizoo but will take a stab at this question. It's my understanding it doesn't matter what your 'initial' focus is, as long as you have 5 in the 'tank' when engaging a foe in the fortress, you should 'Become the Beast'.
Welcome to the Forum! 😀
@SoulPowerX if your initial focus is five and you have the beast lesson, then yes, it works on oddity traces on the map.
Does it mean Magizoologist with maxed out power + working 'Become the Beast' can take out oditie Erkling (100 hp) with single not critical hit?
I'm Professor with maxed skills and have enough books/scrolls to learn this combination for Magizoologist but not sure is it worth :)
Thanks
Oh yes. I’m a Magizooligists and I always take Erklings out in one. And vampires 🧛♂️ 😊.
Oh @SoulPowerX welcome to my world! LOL Hubby is a MZ and I was so annoyed when he was one hitting a bunch of oddities like erklings and vamps. I'm maxed prof now, and started auror a few months ago.
If you want to look at building an oddity profession, you do have two options. I suppose which you choose depends on your resources, group dynamics if you play with others in the fortress, and just personal preference.
For MZ - The very first lesson on the MZ tree gives you +10 power if you have over 50% stamina, become the beast gives you +40 power with 5 focus. So if you get those two lessons, the lessons to get your initial focus to 5, and your power to at least 50, you'll hit for at least 100.
For auror - You can max your power at 100, but you can also get higher precision (greater chance of crit hits), and higher crit power. So you don't have to go all in on power if you have greater chance of crit hits along with crit power. You get differing answers on what lessons to go for with the auror build, but the main focus is on power, precision, and crit power.
For auror, you can get a good build with scrolls and red books alone. With MZ, you need green books as well as reds and scrolls.
Hold on -- MageZoologists get their big spell bonus in normal oddities? Why then do Professors NOT get the det hex bonus in normal oddities?
@Keybounce they do not have spell bonus, just "passive skills" which are working for Professors too e.g. TTD + BE = 2 Enhancements = +17 damage = 96 total damage.
But it is not fair anyway - Professors also have passive skills on Foes with impairments and this is not working because we can't impair oddities while Aurors and Magizoologists have working ALL passive skills ALWAYS and EVERYWHERE.
96, and I need 100 ...
PLEASE, let me auto-cast det hex :-).
Interesting thought @Keybounce - but if it worked with protego as in fortress battles then professors could expend NO spell energy on oddities, would never have to aim at pixies or doxies, etc .
And?
That's the professor's big bonus. Less base attack, but the ability to save spell energy when hogwarts is locked down and the school cafeteria isn't edible :-).
