Brainstorm / Ideas for isolation play
Some ideas for how to have a social / location game during non-social / non-travel incidents.
** This thread is intended for brainstorming, and proposing ideas. Follow the basic rules:
1 - There are no bad ideas
2 - No one's idea should be thought of as complete or good initially, all should be discussed and modified
3 - Do not be attached to any idea suggested here.
4 - Expect any "solution" to be some odd combination of fragments of all the ideas brainstormed here.

My ideas:
1 - Spell energy on the map, instead of dining.
2 - Daily task changed from "dine twice at inns" to "Gain energy twice from any source"
3 - Random tower traces, so people can go into challenges
4 - Building on 3, if multiple people go into the same tower trace, they see each other / can join together.
5 - Building on that, the range of joining these challenge traces is much, much larger than normal, so people can work together even if they might never see each other.
6 - Alternatively, random "inn traces" and "greenhouse traces" if people cannot be expected to get to inns and greenhouses. Same larger range on greenhouses so some sort of community growing can continue
7 - If you do interact with a game player / run across them in a tower, find their planting in a greenhouse, find their dark detector, be able to "friend" them. This is just being able to add them to the friend list, perhaps in a secondary list, to permit the friend bonus for challenges, note that there is nothing in the game currently that lets you find the location of a friend so this does not permit locating / stalking another player.
And of course, for the umpteenth time,
8 - Allow people to take a "portkey trip" to a friend, and share that player's location for purpose of location, ground traces, inns/greenhouses, and towers. Even if you don't get the walking bonus for where that person walks -- you might be walking around inside your house while virtually elsewhere -- you can still interact with someone else / join in tower challenges with someone.
Note the interaction of 7 and 8 here -- 7 has a "secondary list" for people you just see the names of in greenhouses / inns, specifically to exclude them from this as this feature would expose locations / permit stalking, so would not be acceptable for something where the game lets a stranger find you.
Again: This is a brainstorming thread. Do not take any of these as more than half-baked

We already has something like that during one of the very first events (back when energy was still an issue and before Greenhouses provided that resource)

It has already been suggested to include Greenhouses in the Quest. But your suggestion would also include Energy-Gifts from friends and Energy from Sponsored Fortresses, correct?

I'm not sure I understand what exactly you're thinking about. Fortress-Encounters without going to a Fortress? Is that what you're suggesting?

Hm, I think @Razorgirl had suggested increasing the Action-Radius as a service that can be bought in the vault. That would also "solve" your idea, right?

Something like "These Players were in your most recent Fortress Party. Of these, the following players are not your friends yet. Do you want to befriend them?"

Hm... so basicly "mirroring" the location of another player?
I'm not entirely certain how that would work with the "regional exclussive" Traces like the Dragons - maybe these would have to be excluded from the traces that are visible to the "visiting" player
Great ideas @Keybounce and I like the out of the box thinking here. I hate to play devil’s advocate right out of the gate but a lot of these ideas would basically be re-configuring the game completely meaning re-programming and I don’t think the team will be able to do that. With that being said, there are certainly things that they could do to still have people engaged in game play that are either quarantined or just not able to get out much due to country’s/states levels of social distancing or even complete quarantining.
I personally think from tomorrow until the pandemic is under control that spell energy should be on the map and change the gameplay to basically just a community day type of play. Have TTD bring in much more traces then the normal 10. I would say minimally double it if not quadruple it. The daily task of dining at two inns could be changed to pick up two counts of spell energy on the map. I would also recommend taking off the fortress requirement daily for the interim. Bottom line is if several hundred million people are on lock down and we aren’t able to get out to play the game traces need to be available at our homes. And if the developers are sitting on any new traces or pages or really anything at all NOW would be the time to roll them out to keep people engaged and entertained. This major update we have been talking about and hoping for - well this would be the time to roll that out.
I think this time is the best to feature request about fortress team up regionaly or perhaps internationaly. Maybe plus chat among fortress party.
I know the Devs have stated that they will never introduce Duelling, but maybe they could reconsider this.
PoGo allows us to battle against people we physically meet and with other players in our Friends List. It requires us both being online at the same time, which usually means coordinating the battle via some other means and then going into the game at the same time.
Portkey Games introduced duelling in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery... we went to the Duelling Areana and got to play against other player's characters that were controlled by an AI, it also revealed the FB photo of our opponents.
Being able to "practice battling against Dark Forces" would be perfectly in theme with this game, and would allow for another aspect of the game to exist for people that are forced into isolation and cannot go out into the world.

I think I might start up a new thread about introducing Duelling. I'm sure I'm not the only person that has suggested it. I've seen many, many statements from the Devs saying that it will never happen and that they want WU to remain collaborative. Maybe tying in a House Cup would be way to do that. Though I guess the problem with that idea is folks with multiple accounts could just do multiple duels against their secondary account to up the score for their own house. So I guess the easy way around that is to say that only the first duel against a specific opponent will count.
I love the idea of us being able to send a Portkey Gift to a Friend and allowing them to piggy back off our location for 10 minutes.
* Visit Inns near us
* Visit Greenhouses
* Pick up a Harvest/Ingredients off the ground
* Team up with us for Fortress Challenges

I just started a thread elsewhere, but thought this post might benefit from this article, too.
Some of those would be ace for WU and so easy to activate since most of them have already happened as bonus effects during Brilliant Events.

Still, if increased spawned items only around poi, there arent much use. Try TTD once and getting my SE into "red zone" very fast. Spawn item around me only TTD ingredients no SE. Cant rely only on gifts arent we.
@Razorgirl since a problem corona, this game give play more inside too.
Gift idea: If you have less than 20 gifts to open at the start of the day, the ministry sends you enough gifts to bring your total up to 20.
0.25 km is about 820 feet. That's about 20 lengths of the house. That's easy enough to walk while staying inside during a day.
That won't scale up to 3 km per day to keep up with portkeys. Even if half distance portkeys happens, a shelf full of purples would still be 6 times that; walking one per day will destroy carpeting pretty quickly.
I have no idea what to recommend. Anyone? Any ideas? Remember, this thread is for brainstorming.
GPS doesn't work relyably indoors. That being said, there are other "mechanics" that can be used - like the gyroscope
