for what it’s worth, and i would not be surprised if certain others here feel exactly the opposite, i think the dumbledore office brilliant portkeys are very disappointing. having ONLY wizarding xp awarded no matter which wrackspurt is tapped makes it entirely uninteresting for me. i will collect my 5 trelawney fragments and not touch any more brilliant portkey portmanteaus until week 2. what a shame (and wasted opportunity).

@kiheikid I was actually really looking forward to the Portkeys only giving XP as it helps with levelling up but I have to agree I’m not going to be picking anymore up once I’ve cleared the few I have I feel like they’ve been hyped up and I was excited to be in the headmasters office but they’ve turned into a disappointment with low XP 😓

I haven't opened any yet, but I will admit to being underwhelmed when I read that there would only be xp in them.

I'm curious why your statement had to be framed in a way that seeks to create opposing sides? The statement could have stood just fine on its own without daring the "others" to disagree with you.

i’m not daring anyone to disagree (as if some people need the motivation) ... though i am curious as to what rational basis an opposite opinion might be based on

I am underwhelmed by them as well. When I read that they would have only XP I was pretty excited. I was thinking I’d pick them up even after the five needed for the foundable fragments, until I saw how little XP they actually give. They only have 300 XP so even with a Brain Elixir you only get 600 each time. It was not really worth the elixirs or the keys.

Same. I was excited to hear these Brilliant portkeys would reward XP only, but I imagined it would be random with the occasional one being very generous. Discovering that they only award 300XP was disappointing.

Granted, that's not terrible either. I found it worth opening a full rack of eight of them with Baruffios active. Combined with the foundables I snagged and challenges I completed, I ended up gaining lots of XP out of that one hour period. You might get a little more from eight 2k portkeys, or possibly much less. At least with these, you know what you're getting. Still, I share in what appears to be the general consensus that what you're getting isn't all that great.

I will say that I love using portkeys that take you to a new environment for the first time. People complained about the Hogwarts Express portkeys, particularly those who had phones that weren't responsive enough to catch the wrackspurts as they whizzed by, but I thought it was super cool when I opened the first one. It took me a couple minutes to discover the wrackspurts were outside the window, and I laughed out loud when I finally figured it out. Panning around Dumbledore's office for the first time was also fun. I wish the Brilliant portkey locations would get thrown into the mix with non-event 10k portkeys after each Brilliant event is over.

I was sooooo excited about Dumbledore’s office being the new Portkey location and I thought they did a great job on it - my only feedback is to the right of his desk should be the stand where Fawkes was but other then that - FABULOUS JOB!!!

Here is the thing with NEW items - you can’t make everyone happy. How many threads have complained about portkeys having basic potion ingredients in them? So I am guessing the developers decided to just do one with just WXP. So would you rather have a Portkey where you get the following:

    1. 2 bubotubers
    2. 1 dittany
    3. 1 granian hair
    4. 3 runespoor
    5. 2 Re’em Blood

Which was what I got on a 2km Portkey recently So would you rather chancing that above or be guaranteed 300WXP for a 3km? That is completely a personal preference.

I honestly wish they were a little more generous with Portkey items as at level 38 opening 5 of these only amounts to 1500WXP or 3000 with a BBE. If I was at level 18 that is a lot of WXP when you only need like 40,000 to level up but for me to level up to 39 I need 280,000 WXP. So my point is I wish things were more proportional.

And when we finally get to open a 10km I wish there was nothing that I could pick up on a map ingredients wise. Someone opened a 10km Portkey here and got 18,000 WXP which I thought was amazing. maybe a red book sprinkled in here and there and maybe some SE too. I loved those portkeys for LOH event that were 1km and had SE. Of course I would always request 🍄🍄🍄🍄 these more often in portkeys. I think I have had two portkeys with 🍄 in them. Release the shrooms!! 🍄🍄🍄🍄

yes, you heard that rallying cry here first:

    “release the shrooms!” (leaping toadstools)

I didn’t mean to sound ungrateful. I was happy to get the 3000 XP I got from the five required Brilliant port keys. I just meant that it wasn’t really worth picking up more than those five.

I agree that you should never get common ingredients in a 10k portkey. That’s such a disappointment.

I really liked Dumbledore’s office. It was fun to check out!

I know what you mean @CeruleanGirl and I am grateful for whatever I get in portkeys. EXCEPT the above mentioned potion ingredients that are on my map at any given time of the day that I play!! 🤣🤣

I LOVED Dumbledore’s office so much. Just like the three Broomsticks or even Snape’s office or HoneyDukes - OK I really just love them all because for those few minutes I actually feel like I am there.

Given how hard walking is for me at the moment (and presumably othrrs due to weather), it feels rather insulting that the reward for 3km is just 300xp. I am simply getting brilliant portkeys for the fragments this week. I'm also not wasting keys on 10 portkeys for the bonus task.

@Magpie31 - i hear ya. the game makers do not seem to have a great grasp of pricing. so many aspects of the game have costs too high and/or benefits too low.

The combination of them reducing the kmph to get credit for Portkeys and less exp than you can get from a 2km Porkey makes the 3k Portkeys and the entire event a huge disappointment.

Let's not have another event that requires 15 Portkeys to be opened, until they fix the walking speed, so that we can run or bike, instead of walk slowly (I have a long stride, I can't even speed walk or it is too fast to register KMs, since the kmph nerf in 2.8)... or better yet, wait until we get Adventure Sync!

Hopefully, they take all the negative comments about this event and give us better rewards, without it being so inconvenient. I walk a lot, with the game running, but I was still forced to use 8 keys to help open Portkeys, since they take so long to open, currently.

I think the main disappointment is the predictability of the XP awarded. Always 300. Always the same from each wracksport tapped. I can understand the complaints about this, fair enough. Human psychology a suggests that variable XP awarded - sometimes 100, sometimes 1000 for example - would keep everyone much more interested in opening these event portkeys. Intermittent reinforcement works better for driving behaviour.

@Agrajagger - although i see your point, i place less importance on the predictability aspect. if every brilliant portkey rewarded 3000, not 300, wizarding xp for 3km travelled, no matter which wrackspurt, i would not be unhappy. bored, yes, but unhappy, no. instead, my beef is with too low a benefit (300 measley xp) for the cost (time and effort of travelling 3km and possible use of silver key to extent gold key isn’t being used) - and multiply that by 10 for the bonus assignment. i’m not including the first 5 required at task 3/4 because i wanted to fill in the trelawney fragments anyway.

Luckily I go to the **** every Saturday night for a Mario Kart Tournament and and do enough walking to open some portkeys so I just finished up the unlock ten portkeys task.

Yes, it's a great setting, but as much as I want xp, it's a rather meh and predictable amount.

There are glowing foundables that return more xp.

I'm guessing that they assume everyone will have an XP boosting potion active when they open them, but when I've been forced to blow a ton of silver keys on them in order to complete the quest, that's a disappointing result.

If you're making players spend silver keys that they could be saving for 5 or 10km portkeys, then the contents ought to reflect that sacrifice.

I agree with everyone about the 300 WXP being too little for a 3km Portkey. My wish would be that the WXP was more proportional to the person’s current level. For the five required it was only 1500 WXP or 3000 with a BBE. So if I was at level 20 and only needed 25,000 WXP to level up that’s a decent number. But once you get over level 30 it is 20k to level up. So right now I need 280k to level up to 39 so 3k is less then 1% of what I need to level up where as if I needed 25k to level up 3k from the portkeys is 12%. So you see the inequity I am speaking of. In a perfect world the rewards would be proportional. I only opened the necessary 5 to get the fragments.

I am so glad they are changing up the portkeys and what will be in them! Woo ****!! For the bonus event I didn’t use any silver keys. I just kept opening up 2km ones. I used two silver keys for the event when we had to open 5. So it was do-able. I just finished yesterday after walking around Target for like two hours.

I need rare ingredients. XP is everywhere and easy to get. What a waste of a great Portkey.

I got the ones I needed to place the image and have been avoiding the brilliant portkeys because the XP was so disappointing. 1000+ would have been more appropriate!

decided to not use silver keys to unlock the 10 portkey portmanteaus for bonus rewards, and instead spend my last few days grrrrrinding in fortresses. now at 28/30 red books for my next and final increase of stamina as a professor (and halfway toward ranking up in challenge xp for the last 2 red books) ... and after that, it’s just 5 more red books for my final red book lesson (for increase in max focus). i’m ok with my decision, but am glad to hear folks also have used keys to claim the 4 red books rewarded via this bonus assignment.

the green books, on the other hand, ... miles to go before i sleep.

Same here. Except using keys. I only use the silver for 10k. I did unlock and open a couple 10k during the event. OMG, what a let down. Common ingredients, such as Granian Hair, should not be included in 10K portkeys. The last three 10K I've opened have been a waste. No unicorn hair. No Abraxan hair (which has been oddly rare for me lately). Just junk. Not even a lot of XP.

Anyway, back to the 3km ones... Typically they give good stuff compared to others. I find myself hoarding them up as many as I can carry before the event ends . This time I am carefully avoiding them. I managed to get just the 5 and no more. No way I can unlock and open them all at once, since I'm trying to unlock as many as I could for the event, I wanted 2km only. As soon as one unlocks, I open it to make room to pick up another. After all, the 3km were clogging up my space since I picked them up before realizing how bad they were.

Great job as usual on the graphics though.

the last of my leftover week1 dumbledore office portkey portmanteaus unlocked for me today (was a homebody wednesday and thursday), so imagine my surprise when i tapped wrackspurts and found:

“normal” brilliant portkey rewards ... 👍🏼

i hope the week2 brilliant dumbledore office portkeys will have their rewards similarly back to normal
