Will we ever be able to view other players avatar pictures and make ours visible to other players?

    That's something I didn't understand... why are the avatars inaccessible to other players. That's part of the character creation in this game.

    Allow us a toggle to allow others to view our avatars.

    Oh, I thought I was the only person who had one! 😂 Okay, thanks for explaining that. Yeah, what’s the point of avatars if no one else can see them? And why would we care when other avatar options become available through play?

    There are a Lot of Social Features I'd like to see either added or finished.

    Ability to view Profile Avatars is on the list, but it's behind a few other things honestly.

    Things like:

    Allowing us to see other players on the map (unless they are a Niantic Kids player of course).

    Allowing us to interact with the other players we can see on the map, in several ways;

    Firstly a direct Friend Invite... No 12 digit code, just Click, Invite!

    Secondly, bring the Ingress chat system, or something like it, to the game. Allow us to Speak to the players around us in a Local Chat (Niantic Kids is already in place to lock children out of this feature, Use it.).

    Third, allow us to directly Invite Friends that are online to Wizard Challenges. Also allow us to set a Challenge as Looking For Wizards, so local wizards get notified. And also allow us to invite players on the map around us to Wizard Challenges.

    This game needs a Lot more in the way of Social Systems and Multiplayer Features, but these ideas would be a start.

    Maybe once we aren't all walled off from one another, then this game's name will be a bit more fitting. Right now it's more like Harry Potter: Wizards Alone.

    From some of the things I have read, this is something that Niantic does with their social interactions. Due to the fact that this game is one in which you are traveling out in the world and there are minors who play the game, they will most likely NOT share your picture with your friends. I think the fear is that minors may be targeted by some adults who have ulterior motives, and the best way for them to keep the minors safe will be to not let their pictures be shared.

    It is a shame since I spend so much time picking out the best background and props for my photo. So I can understand both sides of the debate, but I guess we will just have to do what they feel it right.
