HARDEST CATCH
Just curious to hear some other “(wizarding) war stories.” Here’s mine: In the January 2020 Community Day, most returns took 1 to a few casts, as expected. But I had one Whomping Willow that took 23 casts, including 14 Masterfuls, to finally bring in. What’s been your toughest or strangest encounter?

Yikes @Bazoogie ! You were determined to succeed, that's for sure! I'd probably have gone on to the next WWillow after 5 or 6 spell casts. Good on you!
Now that's dedication @Bazoogie !!! You must have the patience of a saint!! I definitely would have let that go! Lol
I think the most casts I've ever given something I've really wanted is a max of 10.
I've not kept count but i think that's my limit.
In awe of your staying power 💪🙌😀
Even though I know better, I also regularly find myself stuck in the Sunk Cost Fallacy. I try to stick to the three strikes and you're out policy, but sometimes I just can't let it go. I believe my highest ones have also been between 20 to 25 spells cast. It happened a LOT during the first Brilliant event (Fantastic Flora and Fauna). Brilliant Foundables are always stubborn to catch, but being a low-level player made it even more difficult. I don't miss that Brilliant Unicorn one bit.
During the event that we collected all the dragon egg ports, my family were visting family in another state. Where we live is a smaller and more rural area, so I had high expectations. What I didn't expect was how much my town has done to get good internet service for the schools and such. I noticed huge lags in connection and it took easily 5-10 spell energy to catch anything, which was at least twice the amount I normally use. I swear it was the bad wifi and internet servers out there. Which puts rural players at a disadvantage....on top of the struggles they already have.
Remember, each cast is an independent roll against the odds. If you have a 2% chance of returning a severe threat, you expect 50; if you have a 10% of returning a high threat, you expect 10.
If I'm willing to go after something, there is no "sunk cost" or "max cast" for me. Sometimes I'll get it sooner, sometimes later. If I have plenty of energy and no time pressure, I'll be happy to try for a 10% chance.
My mama didn't raise a quitter! @Acumen 18 casts, Brilliant Unicorn. Still my record. Don't miss 'em either!
