discussion - is unlocking ten portkey portmanteaus too costly for getting just 4 red books ?

the bonus assignment for jan 2020 brilliant event week 1 includes a reward of 4 red books, BUT completing that assignment requires, among other things, unlocking an additional TEN (10) portkey portmanteaus before the end of week 1 (and this is after having to already unlock five (5) portkey portmanteaus as part of week 1’s task 3/4) ... is that simply too high a cost (in time and keys) for too small a reward ??
after all, 3 red books will be awarded as daily treasure at midnight after end of week 1 (assuming you pick up day treasure every day), and you can get 4 red books by ranking up twice in challenge xp via fortress battling.

Every event there is a certain number of people who finish really quickly. Even since the introduction of bonus tasks at the end of each brilliant event, there are people who finish all of it in the first day or two. Although it's a bit extreme, the high number of portkeys this time around seems like an attempt to tune the difficulty of the event. Most people should be able to finish the main tasks, but completing the bonus this time around will not happen for everyone, and I'd guess that's by design.
I think it's a little harsh but that's not why I'm popping in.

@kiheikid I agree I don't really fancy using my keys to complete the bonus task but have a feeling I won’t have any other choice ... I used a lot of my silver keys on the last CD to clear down as many Portkeys as I could to prestige the CoMC page. I’m kinda feeling like I need to clear the main tasks quicker so I have more time to focus on the Portkeys.
^correction: 3 red books will be awarded as daily gift tomorrow at midnight; 3 silver keys will be awarded at midnight immediately after day that week 1 brilliant event ends

@HKR84 - the alternative (at least for me) is to earn those 4 red books by doing extra fortress battles to rank up twice in challenge xp

@kiheikid since I need around 175 red spell books I would walk off 20 portkeys for four red books honestly. If we are able to finish the four main tasks in two days that gives me five days to open the ten portkeys for the bonus and I think that is completely do-able. On the weekends I open between 8-15 portkeys on average so I am not worried about it.
@kiheikid that’s pretty much what I’m focusing on now as I still need 223 books it’s unreal how long it’s taking to get them I thought the green was bad but no it’s definitely the red ones.

I'm down to needing 17 red books so I'll do my best to get the bonus completed. I just claimed my 3 books at midnight.
Unfortunately the bushfires have given us very poor air quality. I'm not asthmatic but still suffer with struggling to breathe if I try to cover too much distance. Hence I've spent most of my play time recently sitting in my car doing fortresses.
I may have to resort to driving laps of a shopping centre.
