I’m finding WU quite repetitive at the moment, and because I have time on my hands of an evening whilst I am working away, have rekindled my interest in D&D
Does anyone else feel the same?

This is one of the reasons I used to love the mysteries, @OriginalCaruso - it added a storyline and an element that kept the game moving forward. I am hoping that we we will see new chapters soon!
@Magpie31 - I’ve said elsewhere on this forum that I expect a new release soon, but that’s only my expectation also suggested more SOS assignments as these would be easy and low risk to implement
@OriginalCaruso I do think we are going to have a release soon, based on the mods doing the chapter recaps recently. I din't think they would be drawing our attention back to those things unless planning to move forward.
I agree on the SOS tasks, though I am still stuck on the blasted team challenges, being a solo player.
Our group has pulled out red dragon inn a few nights, so yeah there's a feeling of needing something else...
Same. I wasn’t at all disappointed to miss out on CD yesterday, because meh.
I’ve never been into D&D. My son has played since he was young. He plays a couple nights each week with a diverse circle of very close friends he’s made over the years. I have several friends who play and I’m pretty sure I’d dig it, but I think it’s better to let that be his thing. I’d hate to encroach on something that’s probably always served as an escape from life at home. Not that life at home is bad or anything, but you know what I mean.
Instead, I’ve been reading again, and just got started on A Song of Ice and Fire, so that should keep me occupied for a while.
I missed the CD yesterday too, I couldn’t spare the time and maybe over a beer one day we can compare notes

Good for you @Acumen getting back to reading. I have been reading also as I tend to agree that HPWU feels kind of stale lately. I enjoy the events for sure but we had three weeks between the 12 tasks of Christmas and the ice confounable event which wasn’t really an event. I do hope the story starts to progress soon as I feel like things have waned a bit if you will. I have less then 20 regular normal confoundables I am needing and the majority of those are very rare like monster book of monsters or inter departmental memos. So I hope the developers either add more pages or move the story line along soon. Also adding more achievements and SOS tasks.
I read somewhere that one of the reasons Pokemon is such a massive hit with the players is because daily there is some new challenge or new anything basically. For HPWU it seems we get about 3-4 events a month if we are lucky. Now this upcoming event with opening 15 portkeys is going to be a bit of a challenge but honestly I like that. I do try to take my time with the events and enjoy the new-ness of it and the story within the event.
Wow I just re-read my post above and I sound kind of Whiney and unappreciative of everything we do have. So I would like am to add that I am so very extremely grateful for the events and new pages with more confoundables that we do get monthly.
If I could request more along the lines of storyline that would be fantastic. Also ideally more SOS’s, more achievements, and more pages too. My reason for asking for these things is because I have been playing since day two and have gold prestiged quite a few of the pages so nothing more to work towards on those pages so I have fewer items I need to capture.
I look so forward to all the other things that will be introduced in the future!!

I kinda get where Niamtic are at with WU. The game hasn’t been a roaring success and is costly to develop and support. Looking at the number of new names being promoted to Mod / Admin I suspect Niantic are moving their support offshore to cut costs which always causes a negative blip until the new team fully take over
In some respects Niantic haven’t helped themselves either as there are obvious areas of the game which can be easily expanded with minimal effort - the low hanging fruit should be plucked rather than just left
Part of the issue is the instant gratification we get from our phones and pads - where the cost is zero, the demand is infinite - and we expect to be entertained on demand. I include myself in this too
One reason for posting was to challenge myself too. I shouldn’t complain about WU if I am not prepared to offer (hopefully helpful) input and contribute to the community. I’m not given to complaining, stoic British traits come to mind, and I would rather do something than sit and whine about it. But I am getting to the point where I am repeating the same things over and over again
I’m still playing, just not totally engaged, I’ve spent the past week or so reading AD&D books, 1st / 2nd edition not 5th edition - which rather dates me!
And apologies to you dear reader for putting up with this diatribe...
Well tonight I played D&D 5th edition for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed it, looks like I have found a group to play a long term campaign with on alternate Tuesdays
I’m thinking of running my own campaign too, it has been a long time since I last refereed a game so I have some catching up to do
And then I remembered WU event has started so I managed to complete the first assignment page

@OriginalCaruso I kept meaning to write you back saying I agree with everything you stated. A long time ago I had a great boss that taught me to never come to a meeting with a problem or issue unless I had already thought of a solution first. So I try to live by that rule.
I wonder if this game will truly take off more? I think possibly they were expecting it to eventually eclipse Pokemon but I am just guessing there. Perhaps it will take off more down the road as I certainly adore it but feel like there is a “level” missing of the game. More of a level of needed engagement.
@ClairabusGryff - Something has to change and soon, the definition of madness is repeating the same thing and expecting a different outcome each time
I’ m looking forward to meeting @Dewin99 and @AuroraKadavra soon. I did ask for Niantic to provide additional perks for our meet but it is unofficial ie not a sponsored meet therefore no support is available, kinda defeats the Wizards United branding. Interestingly Ingress has a very active community which is self-organised, despite trying and asking for a comm tool which would facilitate community development seems our request has fallen on deaf ears
Lets hope Niantic have a new release almost ready to go...

I CERTAINLY WISH I COULD MEET YOU ALL IN London for the meet up but don’t think I can pull it off financially. I am in a court battle with my ex-husband as he doesn’t want to pay child support so money is tight. But someday. I will get there.
I do wish Niantic would give us a peek under the tent of what they are hopefully rolling out soon.

luckily I have several portable battery packs and try to keep my phone plugged in all day.
let me tell you about my battle this morning with the self-playing harp. I used a regular exstimulo on it and 12 casts later it disintegrated. I am at 26/36 right now so I need those suckers. So another one pops up at work so I used a strong on it and 5 casts later it disintegrated. Seriously?? Isn’t that a low level Foundables for crying out loud??🤬🤬🤬
@ClairabusGryff , I can't say I always stick to this policy, but for my low-levels I'll try three times, exit and return. Unless it is the last one I need to place the image and prestige the page. Then all rational sanity flies out the window and I play like I'm possessed😂🤣🤣! But honestly, I decided my sanity, potions , and spell energy aren't worth the grumbling I put myself through the rest of they day over a game! Best of luck with those harps, they are tricksey!
In a perfect world @Bormacska i have the same policy - three strikes and I’m out. But when I get a stubborn one I become a mindless,drooling, casting fool and won’t stop until I capture that suckka!! Why do I do this? I think that either Moaning Myrtle or Nearly Headless Nick possesses me and makes me do it so basically it isn’t my fault. But these harps...I tell you! Well between the harps and inter-departmental memos I may start drinking.
I'd have to add umbrellas to that list! 🤣

Looks like I have found a regular D&D group but it is only every other week. Better than nothing and gives me scope to run a game on the intervening weeks
Life is changing, just about everything is going to be very different by the end of the year God willing

Thank you for the optimism @OriginalCaruso as I really needed it. This year has been off to a fantabulous start but have had some minor bumps. But I am not letting them get me down. Somehow I don’t even have the slightest clue right now I will find a way to get over the pond to meet the U.K. forum people. Where there’s a will there’s a way right??? Where do you live in the U.K.?

I live on the outskirts of Birmingham UK not Alabama 😀 but work in London. I have a house elsewhere but that’s up for sale and may mean I could retire, I find out in 4 weeks time...
Anyway, there is are guest rooms for you and your daughter here, Birmingham International is 20 mins drive away but Heathrow and Gatwick are not too far either
@OriginalCaruso i spent a summer in the U.K. a long time ago but went all over the country and loved it there. However I didn’t get to see or experience everything in London that I wanted to. Thank you for the invite as I am very appreciative!! And mi casa et su casa if you find yourself in Texas!! We will meet soon!
