Potion Stack Carry-Over?

I made an observation today during CD and am curious if others have tried this as well.

I used regular exstimulo to capture a medium level foundable, and did it in one cast. So I still had 2 casts left with carry-over. Upon opening the next high level foundable, I decided it’d be better to use strong exstimulo. I had read somewhere (I forget who posted it) that when in a fortress, you can stack exstimulo potions and the highest level one will be active. When that one runs out the next highest level one takes over, and so on. So I popped a strong exstimulo on top of my 2/3 remaining regular exstimulo. I captured the high level threat in 2 casts, giving me 2/4 strong left. On the next foundable I used those both up and discovered that the 2/3 regular exstimulo casts I had previously remaining were gone.

Now I know this wasn’t in a fortress but was with foundables on the map. So maybe that makes all the difference right there. Or maybe it was because I switched to a different foundable? Maybe it would’ve stacked and reverted back had I used all 4 strong casts on one foe with no success? Not sure.

Has anyone else tried this?

That's good to know. I haven't tried stacking exstimulos yet, and probably won't to avoid any potential bugs. That's probably worth reporting if others can duplicate the same result. I'm sure that's not how it's intended to work.

@Acumen I can’t remember who did it successfully in a fortress, but they stacked and were able to immediately to revert to the lower power exstimulo when the higher one ran out. Not so with foundable traces. I’m curious for others to try and see if it’s the same for them, and then to ask HPWUteam if it’s supposed to be that way and why it’s different for fortresses.

@MrSciGuy I believe it was @WerewolfChaser who stacks them in fortresses. And yes, I tried outside in traces and lost a regular and strong exstimulo doing that. Haven't tried since my last experience!

@Bormacska i think you’re right about @WerewolfChaser. Glad to hear it wasn’t just me, but sorry to hear you lost exstimulos as well.

@hpwulola Do you know if this is intended behavior? If so, can I ask why, and also why is it different in fortresses?

Could be worse. Losing 2 potions obviously didn't hurt me. 😅

I also saw it first from Werewolfchaser. I had the same experience with traces. Lost the weaker potion when the stronger potion ran out of casts. Was bummed, but learned from the experience. Now I know if I really want to up my exst, I can (previously I never tried), but I know the risk of changing potion.

Thanks @Dogoutlaw yeah I’m definitely not likely to try it again. Just curious why it was different in fortresses.

@MrSciGuy tbh, I took her comment to mean against traces, not the fortress. I might have missed something there, but can't be bothered to hunt through my comments to find that thread again. I haven't tried in the fortress, but I don't think I'd bother there anyways. Usually if I need an exst in the fortress, I'd start out with a strong or potent and let it run out before doing another.

@Dogoutlaw this is what @WerewolfChaser was saying about exstimulo stacking. It seems like based on the comments before it was in reference to fortresses but isn’t exactly clear.

@MrSciGuy thanks for the link! I see what you mean. I read it as one way, when it could have been the other. Well, I guess if I'm ever in a situation in the fortress where i might want to up my exst, I'll have to remember this and see what happens!
