What is your daily HPWU Playing/Business Plan or Model Look Like?

I thought I would start a new thread about what your daily playing model looks likes? How do you plan out your day? How do you plan out your potions? When there is an event what do you do differently?

There are some fantastic veteran/beta players on this forum and I figure we can all share and learn from each other.

So here is how I start my HPWU day:

  1. When I wake I make sure to close out the app and start it anew so that the daily assignments are sure to re-set
  2. Then I go to my potions and I get the potions I brewed overnight
  3. Since it is still in night-time/dark setting I look for any doxy's, leprechaun's, or horned serpents (this is while I am getting ready for my day)
  4. Off to work, I hit up all my regular inns/greenhouses to re-load spell energy and I plant 2-3 leaping toadstools, I have a specific spot I go to for about 15 minutes or 4 revolutions of getting SE at a church that has 4 large inns and 1 greenhouse there are two other greenhouses that I plant toadstools at as well, one right by work. I also harvest the leaping toadstools I planted the day before if my commute is on time.
  5. At my office I have only a fortress which the fortress spans all the way to my office so I play 10+ fortress levels a day (currently I am a level 36 Magizoologist and need 171 red spell books to complete the current lesson plan)
  6. At this point I open my 10 gifts and ensure that the people I open gifts from I have enough gifts to send out to them. I try to open 9 at this point so that I can view the gifts sent to me as I make a list of extravagant gifts so that I open them under a BBE.
  7. I keep HPWU open basically all day on my desk and gather potion ingredients ( currently I am at 19,883 potion ingredients of the Potion Ingredients Found III 20,000 so this one shall be completed either today or tomorrow)
  8. I do my best to use a BBE about every other day and save my portkeys to open on that day as well as open any extravagant gifts on a BBE day. Since they take a little over 10 hours to brew I don't brew them every 24 hours
  9. While playing daily I prioritize my SE on fortress battles or any foundables I need fragments of except when I have a BBE going then I hit up everything in my path, when I use a BBE I typically use a TTD also
  10. When I get to the office I load up my cauldron for the day of what I need to brew. My potions capacity is currently at 145 so the majority of the potions in my stock are exstimulo's. So I alter my potion brewing queue with exstimulo's, dawdles, TTD. If I am going to brew a BBE I make sure to time my cauldron that the BBE is brewed overnight so that I can always maximize the master brewing notes. Prior to November, the Brilliant Events had a 25% reduced brewing time for any Esxtimulo potions but we haven't had that in a while. **I DO HOPE THEY BRING THAT BACK**
  11. When I leave the office for the day I hit up all my regular inns/greenhouses to replenish my spell energy and then plant 2-3 leaping toadstools. And if I am able to leave my office at the right time then I can harvest the toadstools I planted the day before. With corporate life it is a little difficult to execute leaving the office at the right time but I do my best. When I go to all of these locations which are on my commute route it is dark at this point I search for rare foundables and of course the horned serpent so I get the most wizarding XP possible. Sometimes I will chug a BBE right before leaving the office and open my portkeys and extravagant gifts as my POI's are a few minutes from my office and I typically get 3-6 horned serpents on my way home so that maximizes my wizard XP
  12. When I arrive at home I clear out my ingredients that I have accumulated and make sure my potion queue is stocked with the 4 slots filled. Then I go through my gifts list to delete the basic ingredient gifts and send out gifts gathered from my evening POI visits. This is when I will open my 10th gift. I also just really enjoy looking at the postcards from the gifts.

So I hope this helps some new players and would love to read what other people do. I am totally open to changing up my plan of attack if you will.

**Also on average, I get about 10k wizarding XP a day. When I run a BBE I run about 20k wiz XP a day. I am about 4-6 days away from leveling up to 37 which I am uber excited about!!

Wizard on everyone!!

    My average routine:

    1. Open the game while making coffee. Look at daily tasks first thing to be sure any actions I complete will register, then collect any potion(s) I brewed overnight.
    2. The spawn rate at my home is pretty high, so I'll usually catch the ten foundables needed to complete that daily task in between brewing coffee and checking today's headlines, market data, etc.
    3. I'll grab a watering can or two if any pop up, because I've always got something growing in the greenhouse located just outside my home. My seeds planted gold-level achievement is nearly complete.
    4. Stop at a cluster of inns on the way to work if I have time. Otherwise, there's an inn at the hospital campus where I work. It's located across the parking lot in the main tower, but I generally walk back and forth between my office and the main tower several times each day anyway, and I hit that inn up each time.
    5. I usually do fortress challenges during my lunch hour at another medical campus down the street, or downtown. I stay busy at work, but I do have times (like now) when I'm just sitting on a conference call, so I'll sneak in a few traces or a comment on the forum. Throughout the day, I always have potions brewing to replenish any I've used on traces or during challenges.
    6. I might do a couple challenges on the way home from work, particularly if I didn't do any during lunch. I like to go for a walk after dinner, and that's when I do the majority of my Potterin'. There are seven green inns and a few greenhouses I'll hit up on my route.
    7. Once I'm back at home, I'll open the game occasionally while watching television or whatever else I've got going on. Mostly just to hit the greenhouse to replenish my spell energy, but I'll also catch any foundables that pop up.

Some days, like weekends or even weekday evenings when I need a change of scenery, I'll wander around downtown or other spots with lots of landmarks, fortresses, and inns. I almost never use Baruffio's, except during events when XP is tripled or something like that. I'm not sure why not. I just haven't managed to adopt it as part of my routine. It hasn't held me back or anything. I'm at player level 45, profession rank 14, and I've completed all my red book requirements on my first lesson plan. Granted, I'm a professor, which requires fewer red books than the other professions. I still need 60 more green books though. Anyway, even though I've made decent progress, it makes me laugh to think of how much further along I'd be had I been popping open a Baruffio's during my evening walks all this time. (shrugs)

I also don't spend much time gathering potion ingredients, and I should focus more on that if I ever want to complete that achievement. I just keep my vault stocked up with what I need. Aside from "mystery items found" and "lesson plans completed", I only have fourteen achievements left to finish, not counting other professions. "Potion Ingredients Found" is the one I've made the least amount of progress on at only 3,562 of 20,000.

Like you, I average around 10k to 20k wizarding XP per day, and I usually try to make time to participate in Community Days or other events that allow players to rack up well over 100K in a few hours.

Once I finish my first lesson plan, I'll probably move on to something else to occupy my idle time, but I'll keep an eye out for cool updates worth checking out if none are released before then. Thinking about rediscovering my passion for reading. I hate to admit it, but it's been years since I've read a good book. I blame Netflix, lol.

@Acumen sounds like we play similarly. That's awesome that you have access to a greenhouse right outside your home and have such a high spawn rate where you reside.

I know you have impressive levels of potions and your vault is huge too and being a level 45 you are obviously doing something right. I used to try to use a BBE everyday but found that it takes up like 40% of my brewing time in a 24 hour period so I only do 2-3 a week. But the leaps and bounds in wizarding XP from them are worth it to me as the majority of my day's spell energy goes to fortresses as I am on the red spell book hunt. I have 45 green spell books in my vault. So I have to make up wizarding XP in other ways. I have my days where I only get like 5k wizarding XP because I played so many fortress levels.

And one of my New Year's Resolutions was to get back into reading. I used to read 2-3 books a week. I blame my Iphone and Ipad and endless meaningless Facebook or Pinterest surfing. I remembered over the holidays the sheer joy I had from reading the HP books and I have a drawer full of books I need and want to read so I am going to get back to that like you as well.

@Acumen i dont always think to use a BBE either. I really should pay more attention though!

I admire your reading goal. I haven’t read as much in the last 15 years as I did during my first 15 years 🤦🏻‍♀️ I’ve been working on improving that during the last year. It helps that I recently discovered some new releases by one of my favorite authors. Of course now I’ve binged everything by him and now I have to wait for his next book to come out

    😂😭

Okay so my days pretty much vary 😅

but on average my days go like this:

    1. cry because my alarm went off 😂 while pouting profusely I get my kids up for school and make their breakfast. I open HPWU while I pack their lunches and collect my daily log in and freshen up my potion brewing to keep the pot hot.
    2. make coffee and walk my middle to his bus stop. My house is on a country block surrounded by town. Rarely will anything pop up near my house, but the bus stop is all the way at the end of the lane-that’s where city starts- and I can usually snag some confoundables and ingredients while we wait for the bus (and I drink hot hot coffee)
    3. repeat step 2 while walking my oldest to her bus stop 40 minutes later.
    4. either during the day (with my youngest) or in the evening after hubby gets home I sneak out alone and head to my towns visitor center. There I have 1 GH, 3 Inns, and 2 fortresses. I pass 4 GH and 4 more Inns on the way to my hang out. If I remember I will pop a BBE when I start out as I will stop and collect confoundables along the way. I’m not organized enough to hunt specific categories 😅 I am starting to pay more attention to what I need. When I pop a BBE I usually go through gifts and any portkeys I have unlocked. At my hang out I will first snag every confoundable within reach and freshen my SE and gifts to give every 5min. Once I’ve done all the traces available I will then start on the fortress. I don’t really know which chambers are best for which runes/drags so I just play randomly on how slow or fast I want the wizard fighting to go. Some days I’ll hang out for an hour or more but most days I hang out for about 4-6 rounds through the fortress and then re-hit up all my POI’s on the way back home.
    5. I tend to plant a toadstool every day and throw SE at it. I don’t always get to harvest because my play time varies day to day depending on my toddler as well as my work load. I run 2 creative businesses from home and some days are much busier than others. Once my youngest starts school I hope to pursue my dream of a brick/mortar store for one of my businesses and sell the other one to move up and on.
    6. while watching whatever on amazon prime (I just finished the newest Expanse season 4, Fortitude, The Feed, BBC Robinhood, and now rewatching Victoria{again}) I’ll check potions and if I’m really bored I’ll pop a TTD and see how lucky I can get lol.

For potions I usually organize my pot with shorter brew times during the day and then I stock longer brew potions to run during the night. So I usually get a potent or BBE every other day. And then I’ll do TTD, elite, strong exstimulo during the day. Leading up to a potion heavy event I might rent the cauldron and slam it full of short to mid range brews and end it on a BBE. This allows me to stock my regular pot with a pile of potents.

I have had a goal for the past year of reading on the weekends (and spending more time with the kids doing things they want) so my phone time has dropped dramatically over the weekend and holiday period. This goal has been no help whatsoever with regard to accomplishing laundry. I’m waiting for @hpwulola and others to release a potion and a spell to help with spritzing up the home 😂

I can’t think of anything else to say. So on that note, good night! 🌙😘

More reading is a great resolution, @ClairabusGryff. And I can relate to all the distractions both you and @LadyRedIII have mentioned. In addition to Netflix, I also have Prime, and HBO Streaming is free with my mobile plan. Between those three and the most commonly used apps on my phone (NPR, YouTube, Facebook, and HPWU) it's no wonder why I haven't been reading. It's time to make a conscious effort to spend more time 'unplugged'.

Yes @Acumen more time in 2020 UNPLUGGED is the answer for me. Unless of course it’s HPWU! But I need to put it down and read so that is what I shall do tonight. I never finished the last Dan Brown novel which is a crime in my opinion as he is one of my favorite authors.

@LadyRedIII i love your plan so much and the humor in it. You are an amazing woman and sound like a fantastic mother. Three young ones is not easy. I am a single mother of a beautiful 16 year old daughter and I am hoping and praying I survive teenage years successfully!! I have been divorced since 2009 and made the decision to focus on raising a strong independent young woman and so I have stayed single. And will date after she is off to college or the Air Force. So I work two jobs and am home every night to be home for her. I can’t imagine having three kiddos so you are my hero. And I agree that HPWUlola needs to release a potion that spritzed up my house too!!

My "business plan" is based around brewing hours at this point.

On a given day, I'll get a free strong potion, and typically consume a trace detection plus 2x XP potion, plus at least one estimulio. So that's 7+12 = 19 hours of brewing, and either a 2 hour (for a yellow trace) or a strong/potent if I find red.

And a dwaddle (6 hours) if I find a red -- too valuable to lose with BBE.

That's 25 hours, which fills my day after master notes.

5 days a week follow that pattern. The other two typically don't use one or both of the basics, but instead restock extra potions.

I don't manage to get out every day due to caring responsibilities and the need to catch up on sleep! However, I make sure that I log into the game every day.

Usually I wake up & log into the game. The first thing I do is go to the daily challenges page to make sure that I've viewed them so they'll count when I do them.

If I'm not going to get to go out that day then I'll play any foundables that pop up (I need at least an hour, ideally two if I'm heading out, as I don't drive - and it's a minimum of 15 minutes walk to the fortresses I play at.) If I'm heading out later then I'll usually conserve my spell energy unless it's an oddity.

If I'm at home then I'll open the game throughout the day and pick up any foundables that appear until I hit 10 for the daily quest (there isn't an inn or anything within reach of where I live.) I'll send out presents & open the ones I can open. I always brew and use a potion each day for those daily quests, and pick up something that appears on the ground so that I get the spell energy, but I collect that last thing before bed so that I can be on max spell energy from presents before I collect it.

If I'm going to get the opportunity to go out then I'll either do a quick run, ticking off my daily quests and doing a few, low-level fortress battles in the prettier park that's next to town. Or I'll go to the park that has a lot of inns around the fortress and in the grounds, which is great for doing higher-level chambers and for building up a good collection of presents to give out (it also has cooler sounding postcards for the spell energy gifts than the other park does.)

If I have a quest on the go that involves unlocking portkeys then I'll probably wind up going to both parks and also doing a couple of fortress battles in town, though it's harder to use the central fortresses, as it's a busy city and you wind up in people's way!

I rarely use BBE, I tend to hoard it until I have at least 5 Portkeys to open, or until there's a special event like a Community Day which means I'll be fighting more foundables than usual. I only use Tonic for Trace Detection when I need it for a quest, or when I'm just waiting for one or two foundables for a quest and think there's a good chance that they'll appear when I use it (i.e. the event says they will!)

Not being able to get out every day slows progress, but I have so far managed to complete all the events by working on quests like crazy in the times that I CAN get out! :o)

I tried to post but it seemed to delete my post when I reworded it to remove the standard one word description for working hard to make in-game progress that starts with a 'gr' and ends in 'ing', which is apparently a banned word! I don't have the will to write the whole thing out again. I suppose the main tip from it would be to collect the spell energy from the daily quest last thing in the day (if you don't need it before then), when you're done with questing and have opened presents that contain spell energy, as you get the daily quest energy even if you're already on max.
