I don’t know if any wand in particular increase your chances of overpowering the confoundable but I have a Cherry and Phoenix wand that is 9 3/4 inches and I looked it up Pottermore and found it was a very powerful wand combo so I rather like it. (PS I know that this is a run along sentence but I didn’t know where to end it lol)
Niantic has confirmed that the wand choice in Wizards Unite doesn't affect your ability to trace spells, the descriptions for wood, etc are just for fun. I am currently also using my built-in "finger wand" for the actual traces, though I have ordered metal Wizarding World wand replicas which I intend to modify so they can be used as a stylus to determine if I am more accurate that way - plus I think it would just be fun!
I actually try to play with my actual wand haha. I posted a video showing me using a wand to cast spells a while ago that got people excited on FB groups and on reddit. That was with my custom wood wand which I attached a stylus tip to, and added wire and foil. How styluses work is to modify the electric current running through your capacitive touch screen, so it has to be conductive in some way.
However, I experimented more and realized any replica resin wand from Noble Collection or bootleg etc will work as a stylus because it has a METAL CORE.
All you need is a plastic conductive stylus tip, I ordered a pack from Amazon and put it on a tip of Harry's wand. It worked okay.
On my other wand, I decided I wanted to make sure it works well and exposed the metal core by sanding down the tip.
I also decided to sand more of it to give it a weathered look just for aesthetic purposes and I painted the tip black and smudged it so it looks like it's been used and magic has been actually fired out of the tip. This also helps the stylus tip match the wand better.
Afterwards I just put on the stylus tip and hot glued it a tiny bit.
Voila, anyone can do it! I have videos and pics up in places, but I don't think we can post links here.
If you worry about playing accurately, you can hold the wand in about the middle in a way like you do with a pencil which gives much more balance and accuracy. You can definitely get used to it after practice.

+10 for this post.
I use one with human bones as core part, flesh and skin. It's flexible and accurate. It's pretty good. It's called "finger" xD

I am not sure the wand is actually affecting the spell casting... 🤔
