Challenges - Choosing Runes

So I am pretty lost regarding challenges and choosing runes. I spent all my energy and kept fighting (and beating) the same 2 dudes. I tried to choose different runes etc but it didn’t matter 🤓 Any advice for this noob?

    So, should you reserve higher level runes for higher ranking chambers? It isn't 100% clear.

    Also if you and another player have the same tier of challenge and if you put runes that are in the same catagory but have different grades, it will add them together. (Ex: Dark arts runes 3 and 5 on the same tier of challenge, tried with a friend with an exp multiplier potion and it increased my level about 1/4 more)

    Great discussion here, glad to see folks supporting one another. @Swanny has it right that the number on a Runestone corresponds to the difficulty and rewards from a Wizarding Challenge and the Family of the Runestones corresponds to the Challenge Foundable you can receive at the end of the Challenge.

    In my experience with runes, it’s not guaranteed that you will get a reward that’s specific to the rune family you used. I have seen this chance increase however with higher level runes.

    Hmmm there is still something confusing about this, to me there are 3 parts to the puzzle.

    Level in the tower

    Level of rune

    Type of Rune.


    What's the difference between being in Level 1 of the tower Tower with a Level 5 Rune vs being in Level 5 in the Tower with a Level 5 Rune, what changes? Aside from difficulty, do the rewards change as well? Is it better to use rune levels that match a tower level?

    @Sephiroth4life Higher lvl tower increases the amount of account xp and family fragments for the type of rune you are using. The rune level applies a multiplier so it makes the most sense to use higher level runes on higher level chambers, so the multiplier is maximized.

    Aha! So I can still find the same fragments using a level 1 rune as a level 5 rune (since it's based on tower level), it's just that the level 5 rune will give me more of that levels fragments?

    I have tried fortress challenges several times and i am never able to do any damage whatsoever to the enemy. does it require multiple players?
