collect 5 gifts, but from whom ??

@hpwulola - would you clarify some ambiguous language please? task 1/4 of upcoming week 2 of dec christmas calamity brilliant event includes “collect 5 gifts” ... but does this mean


(A) opening 5 giftboxes already received from others on our friend list, and thereby collecting the gifts inside ?


or


(B) collecting the giftboxes themselves, 5 of them, as rewards from fortresses, inns, and/or greenhouses, with which to send out later to our own friends ?


please help before folks guess the wrong answer and waste time. thank you.

    I am having a horrible time collecting gifts. I've only gotten two from maybe 15-20 Inns/Greenhouses/Fortresses. Anybody else?

    @Hoosierfan - every successful wizarding challenge is supposed to guarantee one runestone giftbox, so that is my plan - do 5 easy fortress battles

    Now that the event has started the task actually says, “Pick up 5 gifts”. So far I’ve only been able to visit Inns (rural area with no fortresses or greenhouses) and I haven’t gotten anything except Babbles. Is it possible that only fortresses and greenhouses are a good source for gifts during this event because of the “useless after you get 5 for the task” babbles?

    @Hoosierfan - oh no, that’s bad news for all of us if fortress runestone giftboxes somehow aren’t being rewarded

    I have visited maybe 40 Inns and Greenhouses, and done at least 8-10 battles. I got two gifts in the first five minutes from Greenhouses. Nothing since.

    Well, dummy me, think I finally figured out that I already had 30 gifts and it wasn't picking up any more until I deleted.


    Still haven't gotten any from Inns, though.

    @GwendyddWyllt the inns will give you gifts, but also check your gift storage. If you are already at 30/30 the inn won't give out gifts. They did lower the giving rate from the last event away from 100% drop rate, but I know it took me a bit and when I did find an inn dropping gifts I sat there to pick up a few more. Best of luck!

    Make sure your you can pick up presents to send to your friends. I had the maximum of presents so i didn't receive them anymore.. til I sent some presents to my friends. After that I receive a lot of presents and I completed my challenge ;)

    Just a heads up - I have had a flurry of requests thanks to this thread. And, for the first time ever, I have maxed out my opening allowance. I am leaving my code up to honour my offer to Anulla, and I will accept requests so that people can fulfill requirements for the current event, but I will probably prune again at the end of the event - I much prefer my little list of 12 people!

    Ah ha. I wasn’t having any luck with any options. You are allowed to hold 30 gifts. If you’re full, you can’t get more. I had to send a bunch then I got one out of every fortress fight. That was my trick. Operator error. Laugh.

    Thanks for the help guys! I've been struggling to work out how. As the usual way doesn't seem to be giving out gifts. I don't know a lot of people who play this game so please if you can add me 1955 1805 2328

    I'm on the game daily so more than happy for more people to send gifts too!

    The deleting gifts and then collecting from any greenhouses and inns worked for me; thanks you all. If anyone needs gifts (I just moved and need friends to send gifts too also) please add me as a friend with code 6484 9015 9893.
