Red Books - What's HPWU planing to do?
Many wizards have spoken on the serious inbalance between scrolls , red books and green books, in many different threads in this forum.
Many wizards have also offered different suggestions.
Understand this is a difficult game balance issue to tackle and after all HPWU needs to make profit to keep this game going.
Now many moons have passed. HPWU is still silent on this matter.
Can HPWU kindly share with us wizards your plan on the red book issue please?

I’m not saying you’re wrong for feeling like we still don’t receive enough red books, but the developers have responded to these complaints.
Red books weren’t included with other rewards during Brilliant Events and Community Days during the first few months of game play, and now they are. Plus, you can now receive red books included with extravagant runestone gifts from friends.
Many players, regardless of profession, have already finished their red book requirements on their first lesson plan. That being the case, I doubt they’ll start handing out even more each month, but who knows?
From my perspective, it seems pretty fair and balanced as it is. It’s definitely much better than it was in the beginning. However, it doesn’t bother me to see other players complain that it still isn’t good enough. I mean, the worst that can happen is they start awarding even more red books, and I’m not going to argue with that.
@RelaxLah - I do agree with @Acumen, game imbalance also includes scrolls, I have 3237 and counting. I expect the next lesson plans for all professions to introduce a different set of imbalances as some players will complete several lessons and may level up a few times due to their stored up stock of books and scrolls but in the end everything will even out
It would be nice if we could trade in scrolls for red books, even if it’s at a premium of 250+ : 1. Everyone has certain aspects of the game that are more accessible than others due to their location, and i have a number of friends that have quit playing for that reason. Providing a path forward would likely increase engagement.
@Snarkolepsy - Good point though I would go further: Both Aurora and Magizoologists require RB whereas Professors require GB to complete their first lesson plan
I doubt early play testing or beta testing exposed the scroll / book issue as it would be difficult to simulate game play to the extent required. We are in relatively uncharted territory and it is very hard to see how balance can be restored quickly hence my comments here and elsewhere on this forum that everything will even out over time because the game will unfold
Some of us are expecting an update to WU which will address the scroll / book imbalance - with so many players stalled at the top of their profession and further lessons promised it is only a matter of time before game enhancements are released
I cannot imagine the developers are unaware of the issue highlighted here and paradoxically the absence of official comment tells me there is something afoot
Lastly, my comments are pure speculation, don’t have any information or inside knowledge just an understanding of software development
Just curiosity, are there any player have completed any particular job (learnt all lessons on auror or magizoo or prof)?
i too also have the red book crisis. i mean two REDBOOKS for the reward ? thats barely enough for anything... Besides the stamp collecting system gets incredibly bored easily (sorry i know some enjoyed it but i cant no offense pls ) The only thing that keeps me playing everyday for 1 hour is the Potions ingredient, and hunting.
I am a mazigoologist and have like 40 green spell books and around 2000 scrolls but we only have like 140 lessons available in a plan of 400 so I am not really worried. I am in no rush to get there. It’s the journey that matters. Now am I a little jealous that at the Brilliant events we get 14-15 green SB and sometimes 0 red spell books? Of course but oh well I just keep praying for my friends to sent me extravagant rune stone gifts and who knows what will happen with the 12 Days of Christmas event. Maybe I can get like 10-20 of them. That would make me a happy witch for sure.
@Kodokmag there are a few who have. I believe @Ginnungagap is a full lesson Auror and @Acumen has finished all red books in professor and working on the greens. I'm guessing there are a few others and if you look through the brag board or other posts, you might find them. My greens are down to five books and red books are looking at 221 or so. It's doable, just requires patience. 😊
ok, i’ll ask it ...
what if they’re flying by the seat of their pants and they don’t have (yet) any future sets of lesson plans for the professions skill tree —— and that us why (A) they are throttling green book rewards as much as they can get away with (14 instead of 15 green books every other time), and (B) they are not increasing the challenge rank-up reward to more than 2 red books at a time
???
(i really, really hope i’m wrong on this)
Unlikely
There will be a storyboard and project plan with timeline to release enhancements. My gut feel is we should expect a major release soon, WU is not a mature feature rich product yet and was initially released as “Minimum Viable Product” - ie what is the least functional product which will generate cash and attract early adopters. What we have seen is feature enhancements over time and a few tweaks since launch which IMHO requires a major uplift
WU hasn’t attracted a massive following yet as evidenced by activity on this forum so there is a way to go with the product
@OriginalCaruso - i hope there is a master project plan, but they’re not inspiring the most confidence with some of their decisions and releases. and they sorely need much better communications with the players.
@Snarkolepsy - excellent points. by the way, you have a fantastic game-name 👍🏼
@kiheikid
As for the 2 red books per Upgrade... it is industry standard for all leveling systems that with higher level, the progress slows. You might not like it but ALL games are like that, Ingress, Pokemon, World of Warcraft, League of Legends...
It is completely delusional to expect "power-upgrades" in the late game at the same frequency as in the early game.
As for the "Master Plan"... any sufficiently professional company has one. And it is industry standard to not reveal that master plan or even parts of it - until the development is almost complete and the release is being planned. You may not like it but that's what it has been like for ages - and for good reason.
are you speaking on behalf of the company or on behalf of the industry? and if neither, then the issues with this particular company’s deafening silence are just highlighted by the fact that you would have to speak up for them because they themselves do not ... see OP
Counter-Question: what makes you think that they are obliged to "speak up"?
If there will be advance lesson update soon then i'm screwd. As magizoologist i have some spare green books and scrolls almost all of them had been invested to others job (just curiosity what others job could do). LoL
Still need many red book for main job tough
@kiheikid - @Lucoire has it right. I am a software developer by trade, there is always an agreed scope for each release comprising the specification and delivery plan, things may drop out but rarely are things added
you guys must speak your own language
i still have no idea what you mean - i’m just agreeing with OP
if you disagree, that’s fine - but i don’t understand the explanation you are trying to make
it would be nice for the game organizer itself to communicate
@Lucoire - customer service
@kiheikid - Trying to explain how software is designed and developed without getting into technicalities
Software development is analogous to reading a book, with each chapter being a release. Every now and then the book author releases a new version containing errata and possibly new information
Software developers generally, in my experience, are not the best communicators, we are best kept working hard on the things we enjoy and not trying to explain what we are doing to non technical people
Product owners generally don’t have time to communicate their vision to anyone apart from the project team, because these are the people who deliver the end result
I mentioned this in another thread. I would rather the developers were developing (and bugfixing) rather than communicating with end users - and possibly they are not allowed to communicate with us
We are fortunate to have the interaction with WU team that we do
