note: it looks like there is a typo on page 8 in the graphics - the brilliant hufflepuff silver gargoyle foundable requires 5 fragments via brilliant portkeys (3km) even though the graphic says only 3 fragments are needed. however, the text discussion on that page talks about walking total distance of 15km, which works out to 5 brilliant portkeys of 3km each.
the guide recommends saving 4 CD portkeys of 1km to open at task 2/4 of brilliant week2, BUT that will mean using more keys. alternative is to open 4 brilliant portkeys of 3km each to satisfy task 2/4 since you need those fragments inside anyway — your choice!

ps: we all will find ourselves stuck for some time at a roadblock, because this event requires the brewing of TWELVE (yes, 12) potions — 5 potions for task 3/4 and then another 7 potions for task 4/4.
even if we brew, in advance, 4 potions in regular cauldron and another 4 potions in rental cauldron ( so we tap on 5 to satisfy task 3/4 and then the remaining 3 as part of task 4/4), that still leaves us having to brew the last 4 potions in real time - you want to do this as soon as you collect the first 4 - and so we will be waiting
make sure you have:
enough ingredients to brew all 12 potions
enough coins in case you choose to rent a cauldron
enough vault space to hold at least 7 potions once you collect them (unless you are using them as quickly as you finish brewing them)
if you think 12 potions is an unreasonably high number for us to be required to brew in the event, please let your opinion be known and be sure to tag @hpwulola so she can pass that feedback on to the game event organizers.
@Yohanes12 - sorry, i do not understand. where does it say that add-a-friend is a task in the upcoming week 2 of brilliant event ?? can you post a screenshot of your source please? i looked again at current guide (linked above) and it does NOT say there is any add-a-friend task. we need to be careful that the information shared here is accurate.
@kiheikid I'm saving 4 CD portmanteau do rr the event. You don't actually have to place port fragments until later. Week 1 I had completed the bonus task before completing my registry page.
@kiheikid thank you as always! I do love how they change things up every event but wish there were more red spell books. Since I am a Magisoologist I don’t need anymore green spell books but need around 200 red ones but at least we have the 3 in the bonus assignment. So I am grateful for that. Looks like I will be brewing a ton of exstimulo potions starting tomorrow! Do you know the cost of the rental cauldron? I tried to look one time and got charged for it so I don’t want to look again.
will you be renting it Kihekid? I don’t try to rush through the events as it isn’t the destination it’s the journey. So I like to take my time and enjoy the event. But we do have the 12 days of Christmas starting during this Brilliant event so lots to do! Woo ****. I just hope in the 12 days event we get lots of red books.

@ClairabusGryff - i most definitely will be renting cauldron. rental costs are listed in except screenshot posted below and gamepress.gg guide linked below.
my plan is to rent an 8-hour cauldron on monday (before noon) early enough to stack (without master notes except for first potion), in order:
basic exstimulo * - you have to enter master notes for this first potion before setting up the next 3 in your queue
basic exstimulo
basic exstimulo
baruffio brain elixir - because only the start time of the last brew needs to be within the rental period
and then collect sometime on tuesday (see below) for brilliant event tasks
* yes, healing potion also has same brew time of 2 hours before master notes, but needs more ingredients than basic exstimulo
the 8 hour cauldron rental costs 35 gold pieces, which is no sweat since we received 40 gold pieces as daily gift at midnight last night
i have more flexibility as to when to start brewing and which 4 potions to stack for brewing with my own regular cauldron
then, when task 3/4 arrives, (a) collect first 4 of 5 required potions from my own cauldron; (b) immediately start brewing another 4 short potions (eg basic exstimulo or healing) in my own cauldron to collect later in task 4/4 as they finish; and (c) collect one potion only from the rental cauldron as the 5th of 5 potions required for task 3/4 —— the remaining three potions in the rental cauldron should not be collected until you reach task 4/4 (which requires 7 potions, ie these remaining 3 from rental cauldron plus the 4 new ones that you started in step (b) above)
@Punkyfins - it’s “kokua” to share tips, which other folks are free to follow or ignore or modify (ya get what ya pay for 😉). i am hoping to finish the 4 sets of tasks (with or without bonus assignment) before the “twelve tasks of christmas” event starts
Task 1 - Collect 5 baubles from inns - is this like the last brilliant event where we had to collect invitations from in s and greenhouses? If so, will every inn be giving out baubles? The last event the greenhouse portion I hit up around 30-40 inns to get what we needed so it was a challenge for sure
part 4 task 3 - Collect 20 fragments - so if I return a baby niffler but I have all the fragments for him right now until I prestige the page does that still count as collecting a fragment? Technically I collected a fragment but don’t have room for a fragment. Does that make sense?
Bonus Assignment - Task 2 - Defeat 30 Fortress Mobs - what does that mean? Complete a whole fortress battle? Not certain
And of course Kihekid’s question too needs clarification.

supposedly, foundables with ebublio trace encounters are supposed to spawn more frequently during brilliant week2, so i really hope we can see a LOT more of the boggart cabinet, the goblet of fire, newt scamander, and percival graves
I'm glad there's at least a few red books this time. It was so dispiriting to me that there were ZERO in the first half...I've got all the Restricted Section books I need, and am drowning in Scrolls, but need hundreds more red books...the Community Days always happen when I'm at work, so I have no chance of completing those.
Thank you for gathering this info. I have limited play time, so it's really helpful to be able to plan ahead! Lots of rain forecast here, so I shall have to seek out shelter to play later on in the week!
@FireNightingale - glad to hear you find the information helpful too; da missus and i would be totally at sea if it weren’t for these guides (mostly based on semi-official leaks from @HPWUFazes , it seems)
we too need to plan out our schedule in advance, and we can figure out where we want/need to play and what resources (spell energy/ingredients/potions/runestones/dark detectors) need to be collected vs used vs conserved, all based on that information. otherwise it is very difficult for us as rural players who do not have many POI nearby, ie we have to travel a bit to accomplish what the events require but we can’t just pick up and go on the spur of the moment.
that the task 4/4 assignment to “collect 20 fragments” excludes fragments of foundables whose image is currently placed - those fragments do not count.
instead, for it to count, you need fragments for foundables that either have been (a) never placed previously, or (b) re-set via prestiging of the registry page [* such as the COMC registry page 1 (Hagrid’sHut)] and not yet placed again on the page.
@ClairabusGryff - animagus’ answer to your question #2 above is, unfortunately, that it will NOT count if the image is currently placed in the registry
i predict this could become a HUGE problem for players who have placed most images in the registry but are still waiting only for fragments of very rare foundables to place the final image(s) before prestiging the relevant page(s)
@kiheikid That is really bad news. Onmany registry pages, I'm just a few fragments away from prestiging, so most common finds won't count. I suppose dark detectors on inns will help for me, but I do feel for those people who have completed gold on several family pages.
@kiheikid I was afraid of this. The verbage in the list made me think that we were going to need actual fragments of foundables that aren't filled on a page. Oh well, just makes it more challenging. Right? 😍
we could hope @AnimagusYT ’s video is incorrect, but i am going to proceed as if it is correct. most of my registry pages have only one or two images left to be placed and of course those belong to fortress-only foundables or the foundables that are super-hard to find as trace encounters.
that leaves me three options:
FIRST: (this was animagus’ suggestion) wait until task 4/4 to go after the two new brilliant foundables (brilliant harry + parvati, and brilliant fred + angelina). that means a lot of will-power waiting while these two new brilliants are sure to be popping up everywhere during the first 3 tasks.
SECOND: for me, i recently prestiged each of the first two Oddities registry pages, so wait until dusk/night, pop a TTD (or two) and then go out on an oddities hunt (like we used to do for werewolves).

@Yohanes12 - where in the guide does it say you have to make a new friend ?? i think it just says you have to:
collect 5 gifts at task 1/4
send 5 gifts at task 2/4
and
send 10 gifts at bonus assignment if you choose to do the bonus

@kiheikid since update free add friend, they make a new task briliant event is make a new friend 1 time.

happy brewing and do NOT tap on those ready potions until you reach the applicable task !!
Yup. It does all depend a little bit on the 12 tasks of christmas as well. But thank you for posting this @kiheikid !

orangewizard’s excellent infographics (as always):
by the way, i just asked @hpwulola to clarify following:

@kiheikid i have a couple of questions as well:
And of course Kihekid’s question too needs clarification.
Thank you in advance!!
And thank you so much @Kihekid for the thorough response. Much appreciated as always.
As per Wizardsunitehub it's 30 *foes* @ClairabusGryff .
(And I'll be interested to hear the other answers!) :)
Thank you @Punkyfins - I was wondering if it was a misspelling of some sort.
for folks interested in which foundables use ebublio, here is a list from
