Thing is, @kiheikid, HP is a very, very British book. Everything about it from steak and kidney pudding to punts to house points. The UK still has a state religion, which is Christianity, and the Queen is the head of the Church of England and her official title is Defender of the Faith. It is actually part of the law that students in schools take part in a "broadly Christian" daily act of collective worship, unless explicitly withdrawn by their parents. Whilst this latter part applies to state, community and voluntary aided / funded schools rather than public or independent schools (public school is actually a type of private school in the UK, just to confuse things), it does give an idea of the way Christianity permeates the mainstream in the UK.
Christmas is a huge cultural thing. Most primary schools put on nativities, many secondaries perform carol concerts and carol services. Many schools actually go to churches to do these. Only 6% of people who have religious beliefs in the UK identify as non-Christian.
So Christmas is as much a cultural institution as a religious institution in the UK. And so it is in the books. Christmas is celebrated as a cultural thing rather than a religious one. And as it is the big festival celebrated in the books, it makes sense that it is the festival in the game as well.
@Magpie31 - appreciate the british background you shared ... very different than across the pond where separation of church and state is constitutionally protected (at least in theory)
@kiheikid I moved from the UK to Thailand about 4 and a half years ago, and I teach in a private international school over here. I've sort of become used to explaining these things to my American colleagues when my new British arrivals are confused as to why we aren't doing a nativity / having Good Friday off etc.
In all honesty, I never realised how British the Harry Potter books were until I taught Philosopher's stone with my first international class. My Welsh students and I were so confused as to why our Thai, Chinese and American students were looking bewildered! I ended up buying Christmas crackers etc for them!
HAHAHAHA really? This seems fake (not the usual pictures style), they usually use current incontratus (tonks, Mr. Weasley, Moody) with purple shining; this ones seems like photos from the film photoshoped. But hey, maybe it is real. We must wait "just" 7 days for Christmass.
I have already found a Yule Ball Program (1 of 5). I am thinking this will mostly be found in a fortress or Portkey Portmanteau.
However, I’m sure it was in the fortress since I have been using the Runes for Legend oh Hogwarts mostly.
Hope this helps a little.
Hagrid & Madame Maxime and Angelina & Fred have been frequent visitors on my block of late. I already have 5 of 9 of Hagrid & Madame Maxime. Need to scope out Harry & Parvati and Hermione & Viktor not sighting of these 2 couples yet. ☺️
@Owlx — haha, “peedles” was code for a #1 and “poodles” was code for a #2 when our kids were much younger and we were out and about looking for the right facilities !!
@Thunder2k@Li11ee - hmm, wondering whether @HPWUFazes is on vacation and therefore no official source to leak brilliant event info to guide writers and WU-tubers. you would think there would be at least one back-up leaker.
Yay! I can finally plot it all out! The "game plan" for me is to get all the fragments that have locations to show Santa Claus, IN. I think I'll be able to if I get through the first 2 sets of assignments tomorrow and then complete the rest on Wednesday.
Hmmm. I am a little disappointed that portkey tasks are back while I am still on crutches, but I will find a way. Not at all fussed by the bonus task as there is nothing I want - no badge and no books!
@Li11ee - only 2 potent exstimulo potions as part of free gift bundle. but there are ingredients as rewards for steps 1 and 2, although the potions corresponding to those ingredients are long-brew-time potions (TTD ingredients as step 1 reward and potent exstimulo ingredients for step 2 reward)

Interesting that it's the 'Christmas Calamity' but everything is from the Yule ball, when Yule is about as un-Christian as you can get.
oh yeah, there’s also newtonmas

@Vestigious - did you check your app’s special assignments tab? that is where the screenshot comes from.
And still no details.
I'm surprised too @Thunder2k. Usually Wizard Unite Hub or Game Press has info up well in advance.
@Acumen did u have some info i think that gives us clues about the xmas calamity?
Just that it’ll be unlike previous Brilliant events. Here’s hoping your December is merry and bright. Cheers!
Happy Christmas! To all. Waiting on nins and peedles for the next event!🎄

And @kiheikid I’m only counting 14 green books from this event... hopefully part two has 16? Or maybe some from community day?
