Hi everyone! With the introduction of Potion Persistence in update 2.6, we thought it would be handy to provide you all with a quick overview of all the Potions you can use in Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. Read, learn, and discuss below! 😁

Exstimulo Potions improve spell casts in both combat and Traces. These potions come in three different strengths, with higher-level versions offering greater threat reduction and spell improvement. Use these against difficult Confoundables and Foes, choosing a suitable strength based on their threat level. Exstimulo Potions now will persist across multiple Encounters and Wizarding Challenges!

Exstimulo Potion - Improves 3 spell casts

Strong Exstimulo Potion - Improves 4 spell casts

Potent Exstimulo Potion - Improves 5 spell casts

Invigoration Draughts grant Focus, a resource used to cast strategic spells in Wizarding Challenges. Invigoration Draughts are particularly helpful for witches and wizards with Professions that use high-cost Focus spells. Magizoologists, for example, can use Strong Invigoration Draughts to restore their Focus and revive their teammates. In a support capacity, Aurors can transfer Focus gained from Invigoration Draughts to teammates using their Focus Charm.

Invigoration Draught - Grants 1 Focus

Strong Invigoration Draught - Grants 3 Focus

Healing Potions restore Stamina you’ve lost during combat. These potions are essential if you’re in a tough battle and nearly defeated. With enough Healing Potions in your inventory, you can keep healing yourself and stay in the battle indefinitely, allowing you to solo difficult Wizarding Challenges.

Healing Potion - Restores stamina

Wit-Sharpening Potions increase the efficacy of spell casts against Elite Foes in Wizarding Challenges by 50%. Elite Foes can be identified by their names (i.e. Elite Irkling, Elite Werewolf, etc.) and the gold border surrounding their portrait. Wit-Sharpening Potions will also now persist across multiple Encounters and Wizarding Challenges!

Wit-Sharpening Potion - Improves 3 spell casts against Elite Foes

Dawdle Draughts reduce the Confoundable’s likelihood of fleeing with a Foundable. Consider using Dawdle Draughts in combination with Exstimulo potions if you Encounter rare Foundables that you really don’t want to depart.

Dawdle Draught - Lasts for 3 spell casts

Barruffio’s Brain Elixirs grant extra Wizard XP every time you complete a Trace, Wizarding Challenge, or Portkey. Use a Barruffio’s Brain Elixir when you plan to play for at least 30 minutes, opening Portkeys, or during Brilliant Events. If you’re in a Wizarding Challenge with your friends, you can double the XP you would get from the Challenge and the friend bonus.

Barruffio’s Brain Elixer - Lasts for 30 minutes

Tonics for Trace Detection increase the number of Traces that appear in your vicinity. If you’re camping or vacationing in the countryside without many Traces nearby, use a Tonic for Trace Detection to attract Traces to your location. Tonic for Trace Detection will also boost the appearance of Traces from a given Registry Family near their Landmark.

Tonic for Trace Detection - Lasts for 30 minutes

Thank you all for attending this Potions lesson. Stay tuned for more Wizarding guides! Now, pop quiz: what would I get if I added powdered root of asphodel to an infusion of wormwood? 😋

@HPWULola your pop quiz answer would be "draught of living death" 😉. Thanks for the update!

@HPWULola Draught of the Living Dead! Thanks for the great potions lesson!

By the way here’s a cool little article on the first words Snape ever spoke to Harry (the question about ingredients you asked).

@HPWULola So what is the actual combat effectiveness of the potions?

Wit sharpening, if I understand correctly, is +50% but only against enemies with exactly 3 stars. Do I understand correctly?

How much do the strong and potent exstimulo potions help? They work on all, but more importantly work on 4's and 5's (1's and 2's probably don't need potion help).

No, @Keybounce Wit Sharpening is only effective against Elite foes, which are the ones with a gold frame in the fortress.

    Thank you.

Yea, had some 3-star non-elite's today. Only found 1 formidable pixie, but a couple of formidable wearwolves. Grr.

    Oh, and a 3-star pixie. Y!?

How about adding some more potions? Felix Felicis, the "liquid luck" would be a great one to have. Also, it would be an opportunity to add some new potion ingredients.
