Some balance here... L38 Professor requiring 30RB and a ton of GB to complete lesson plan after today’s event
Personally I would like to have seen a Dark 1 or 2 - my co-player (L38 Magizoologist) and I regularly complete Forest 2 without using potions and today completed Forest 5 a few times without using potions. It all depends on the opponents chosen for the level whether potions are required or not
I thought the event was very well balanced and gave everyone the opportunity to engage at some level, I would like to see more events in the same vein
We play the hand we are dealt, not the hand we would like, making the best of each situation. No single event will ever suit all people at the same time, and it is a thankless task trying to please everyone every time. As we have seen, previous events have been too easy for some - but I’m sure others would say the events were just right or even too hard for them
I’m looking forward to the next event, the past can’t be changed but the future can
@OriginalCaruso the Halloween event had been hyped as much as Niantic could. "Harrowing", "Basilisk", pics of various baddies. "Dark Witch", "Dark Ministry official", and being told to grab as many Dark Arts runes as possible during the previous event. The event ended up being something suitable for beginning players, and the Basilisk appeared even with low-level runes, getting boring quickly for experienced players.
A way to fix that one would have been two or three special rooms, of increasing difficulty. However, only that wasn't done. Not sure why.
The previous Community day had seen advertised a boost in XP from oddities. While not mentioning that said oddities' stamina would have been boosted too. It was killer for most new players, who instead should probably have had access to something a bit easier, especially with those events only lasting three hours despite being called "days".
How to fix that ? Well, warning players about the increased stamina would have been nice, and maybe think of a system that would link player and oddity stats, so everyone can have a bit of a challenge.
This time, the tasks relied on hitting higher and higher level rooms. I was level 35 when I stopped playing, Lvl... 12, I believe, professor. I don't think I ever went further than Forest 4. Solo player, it got too expensive on potions, and at that time had a stock to spend. I usually stayed in the tower.
This was a community day, but again, for new players it seems like it wasn't that much of an incentive, as they wouldn't have been able to fight their way up to open the rooms in time, especially solo. No spellbooks for them.
Of course, the... er... "problem" with daylight savings being ignored didn't help either. Three hours isn't much, so when you only see two, it's bad.
Ways to fix that ? An actual countdown before and during events, on the main page, would have meant that people knew when it started. Putting 5 Red Books behind a level-wall doesn't seem right either. True, beginners won't have reached the silly number of Challenge XP needed to get those measly 2 RB each time, but that's still books a lot of people stood no chance of earning. Since it would be difficult to do all those challenges solo, stop having that kind of task until there is some way to find local players within the app, and a way to communicate. (See the problem when someone in this forum has to link to the Discord of someone else, as it's where they found info, it's ridiculous.)
I am finding tons of Bubotuber Pus, but none of the other three ingredients for Healing Potions. I was able to start 5 with what I had on hand to replenish what I used in the fortress battles, but it would be nice to take a little more advantage of the sped up brewing times. 🤷♀️
I agree with your comments. When I see scrolls as a reward I am disincentivised to meet the objective, but given the linear nature of the game there is no option but to proceed
Is completing every part of an event appropriate, reasonable or even possible for every participant? If so, then event content would need to be either of low level, or be tailored to each participant. Using Towers as an example, I don’t need to have completed every Tower level to enjoy playing. Ok, it’s not an exact comparison, but I hope serves to illustrate my point
A serious flaw in WU is the omission of a comm tool which facilitates group play. Whilst not everyone wants to play in groups, with some events focused on group play, the absence of a comm tool is difficult to understand
Seems to me the WU team are learning and adapting to the audience, plenty of food for thought here
i bought 10 bags of runestones this past week (first 5 bags on friday, and another 5 bags during event today), so i could grind for certain fortress foundables during Community Day and its 3 hours of guaranteed drops at tower chamber 1 or higher.
i prioritized the exploration families as follows: 1. Oddities; 2. Magizoology; 3. Mysterious Artefacts. i did not have time left to get to my 4th priority, Care of Magical Creatures.
i succeeded in placing the following fortress foundables, per the priority i set above:
it took me 17 oddities runestones to get the 7 horned serpent egg fragments i needed to place the image (and prestige the page); as a bonus, i also got 10 more centaur bow fragments
it took me 15 magizoology runestones to get the 6 thunderbird fragments and 3 occamy fragments i needed to place those two images ( not even close to prestiging because of newt scamander and unicorn being on same registry page); as a bonus, i also got 6 more murtlap fragments
it took me 8 mysterious artefacts runestones to get the 3 sword of gryffindor fragments i needed to place that image ( not even close to prestiging because of pensieve being on same registry page); as a bonus, i also got 1 more cursed opal necklace fragment and 4 more sirius’ flying motorbike fragments
thanks @Bormacska , it sure does feel great ... but i now wish that guaranteed drops of exploration family foundables exclusively found in fortresses would be the rule, not a 3-hour exception.
@HPWUTeam - please guarantee drops of fortress-only exploration foundables, at tower chamber 1 and higher, ONE HUNDRED PERCENT of the time, not just a 3 hour special event. the current russian roulette nature of fortress-only exploration foundable drops is really so unnecessary and frankly is or will be a large factor in HPWU losing a number of players. thank you for listening

Well 3/4 completed. I am ok with that. Really was hoping for all the spell books. I need them so desperately. Thank you!
@Gatorella - We all need RB and GB whereas scrolls are meaningless when you have over 100 and counting, I have 2370 and counting...

well put, @DubiousAffairs

@kiheikid way to go! I bet it feels good to get some of those out of the way!
