by the way, since runestones will be GUARANTEED to return exploration family foundable fragments at tower chamber 1 (or higher) ... you can use just level 1 runestones to grind for fragments, and use your higher level runestones for **** for challenge xp & red books.
i need way too many fragments of the fortress-only foundables in order to place the image in the registry pages - in most cases. but at 40 coins per bag of 10 level 1 runestones (one for each exploration family), it is a great bargain/value for me to buy lots of bags of such level 1 runestones and just grind grind grind for fragments of those fortress-only exploration family foundables . right now i plan to spend between 200 and 400 coins that i have saved up, to buy those bags of runestones.
in particular, i have 13/20 horned serpent egg fragments currently, so an extra 5-10 oddity level 1 runestones will come in handy.
@kiheikid Fair enough. I’ll be trying to complete the quests as soon as possible, then I’ll be concentrating on using my highest level runestones to grind for (red) Spell Books, as the increased Challenge XP only lasts for 3 hours.
The fragments will ultimately only result in gaining more Scrolls, and I’ve got plenty of those already.
haha, to me, scrolls are like the paper wrapper to the hamburger inside. for me, scrolls & red books & green books are just the rewards on an endless fortress hamster wheel, so that the hamsters can run faster and longer inside that wheel.
the only good thing about fortress battles, for me, is getting the fortress-only exploration family fragment (and when i get gypped out of that family fragment, grrrrrrr).
the hamster professor sees little of the fortress benefits outside on the map (now that power is near max) hunting for fragments.
i want family fragments, pure and simple, so i can work on placing images in the registry. (and challenge fragments do nothing for me ... they are like the participation certificates that schools/clubs/teams hand out to everyone who shows up)
WU-tuber @AnimagusYT posits the theory that lower level runestones of a certain family will more likely return the fortress foundable on the earlier (ie, closer to the top of the registry tab), while higher level runestones of that family are more likely to return the fortress foundable on the later (ie, closer to the bottom of the registry tab)
this upcoming Nov 2019 Community Day with GUARANTEED return of fortress family foundable fragments in Tower Chamber 1 (overall fortress level 6) and higher will be a good opportunity to test that theory
most of my runestones earned from **** have been higher level ones (4 & 5) lately, so i bought 5 bags of runestones (all level 1) to use on community day, due to the guaranteed return feature for this event

So, I look at the list with the tasks and the last two are about completing challenges in chambers Forest IV and Forest V. Up until now I only have had access to Forest III and I don’t usually fight in it, because it’s quite hopeless - I’m not strong enough to beat everything before the time runs out. Do I understand it correctly, that unless I somehow manage to unlock these chambers today (or at least Forest IV) , I won’t be able to complete the task list tomorrow? Or will these chambers be unlocked for everyone for the duration of the event?
@ElisaWilson I assume they unlock as normal, once you’ve beaten the previous level. This community day is encouraging people to battle together in groups, whether or not the players agree with that “encouragement.” Given that, and the increased healing potion ingredients plus a brewing time of 30 min, and they feel that anyone can make it high enough to complete those levels as well. Working as a team and using potions, even lower level players should be able to beat those at least once. I’m actually glad they are making it a more difficult task. After all, Halloween wasn’t very “harrowing.”
@ElisaWilson - even if you solo, during CD, the healing potions will restore 50% instead of 33.33% of your stamina max each time, so with enough healing potions in your vault (including faster brew times for healing potions at 30 mins each using master notes), there is at least the chance that solo players could survive better in higher chambers like forest 4 and 5. of course, had the game developers really wanted us to more easily conquer those higher levels, they could/should have boosted the power of the various levels of exstimulo potions too.
i am a prof (level 13 on skill tree / level 34 in xp) at max base power of 79 and conquered up to dark 1 and got rear kicked at dark 2. at forest 4 and 5 at the time, i played them solo and i relied heavily on both healing potions for defense (just to survive long enough) and, for offense, potent exstimulos (or strongs when you run out of potents) plus wit sharpening (to stack with potent or strong versus elite foes) to shorten the overall time it takes to defeat those high hit-point foes, by increasing damage i inflict on them with each spell that hits.
i guess we will find out whether solo players can succeed in higher level fortress battles with CD boost to defensive side only, but not also the offensive side.
I wonder if enough people complained about the Halloween event being too easy that the devs flipped the switch 180° to satisfy all the grumbling? I'm reserving judgement until post-event.
I enjoyed the community day (there is still one hour but the pain in my foot called time!). But, despite playing in a very busy shopping mall amd seeing that other players were definitely around (greenhouses got planted, inns got detectors), the only fortress was empty other than me. I did see the nearby park light up 20 mins ago, but on crutches it isn't feasible for me.
I liked that it was challenging, but do feel like it was probably too hard for newer or less experienced players. They wouldn't have been able to get near those red book rewards.
Yesterday I managed to unlock Forest IV in preparation for today's event. Unfortunately it didn't help much, because, as I feared, I didn't manage to win the challenge in Forest IV. Since I'm a Magizoo, the healing wasn't the problem, but the lacking strength of my hits and the resulting shortage of time. I used up my whole reserve on all types of Exstimulo potions, but it didn't help, my time ran out while fighting the last enemy. So those red books will never be mine. :/
It was frustrating, but I didn't want to finish the event with a bad feeling, so I fought a couple more times in lower chambers. I still find it sad that the tasks were so hard, that even I, a daily player for 4 months , couldn't manage the last two by myself. Newer solo player are in an even worse position.
It seems the event ended an hour earlier than advertised? At 13:02 local time here in Sweden I completed the forests chamber 5 as the final part of today’s tasks. However that seemed too late since all progression about today’s event had then disappeared from the game. I was under the impression it would run until 14:00?
@KruidFrisk I just posted about this in the Report-a-bug part of the forum. I assume the problem is all over our time zone (I'm in Germany). The event not only finished an hour earlier, it also started at 10 am. I assume the change to winter time is at fault.

Bonjour
I am disgusted, you had told us that Community Day would ru from 11am to 2pm but you started it early. Without warning us. I was with three friends in Forest 5 and we were struggling to finish on time. We managed to do so at 13:13 only to see that the event had ended. Frankly that is ridiculous. Thank you and have a nice day."

I thought the community event was absolutely perfect. I managed to get to the end after 3 very hard battles (forest III / IV / V ). I loved doing it. It took a big chunk out of my potion stash but I made it. And the rewards was deffo worth it.
@ElisaWilson - you have confirmed my suspicion that solo players will have hard time with tougher fortress levels because the CD boost is only on the defensive side via healing potions, whereas success requires speed getting through all the high hit point foes, and that in turn requires lots of potent and strong exstimulo potions (plus wit sharpening against elite foes) that this CD neither boosts nor provides. I am so sorry to hear of your frustrating experience.

i am tagging @HPWUTeam@HPWULola here so they will understand the frustration of players, especially solo players, when community day event organization is poorly conceived [inadequate offensive boosts for rewards stacked at higher chamber levels] and/or poorly executed [starting and ending an hour earlier than announced]. please read the posts above by @ElisaWilson@KruidFrisk@Raynelle (with translation by @DubiousAffairs ), and please make it right for them and everyone else.

soooo ready now to go hunting for horned serpent eggs and centaur bows on Nov 17th Community Day

@ElisaWilson I fear your worst case scenario is correct. I’d advise stocking up on potions.
