Only 14 Restricted Section Books From Standing United Brilliant Event
A lot of players were surprised and frustrated to see that the next Brilliant Event only gives out 14 Restricted Section Books. This is quite disappointing for newer/casual players, but also for long-time players who chose Professor as we all need 15 RSB's for each of the bigger skill tree nodes.
As a global launch player, like many people I eventually got to the point in my profession that I had 3 RSB's left over and couldn't do anything with them. Then the Halloween event came around and we could earn 1 RSB. This was great, as it meant we could knock out one of the smaller skill upgrades. To further clarify, I didn't actually need those skills as I don't personally use the healing or defensive charms very much. I just assumed it would make sense to use up those 4 Books.
Now, however, it feels as if we should have somehow known to save that single RSB from Halloween in order to make up a round 15. This has basically turned the extra book from a reward into an unwitting punishment.
Is there any rhyme or reason to this reduction in Books? As it is, it just feels very frustrating and like an unnecessary and artificial hurdle. It would definitely be appreciated if this could be changed back to the standard 15!

@ChelseaDagger13 don't forget there is now a bonus section with the first brilliant event. I would not treat information people tried to clean from data mining as complete and absolute.
What you talking about?
On wizardsunitehub.info is article from Brita. She is in contact with Fazes and together they bring the Task for next event as official source.
So in current state there is only 14 RSB in the table for the next brilliant event.
Bonus assignment give you 3 more RB which is sweeeeet, but no RSB.
@Rendlik I don't like to spoil the game so I don't look up the tasks etc ahead of time. We do have 4 events this month as well as community day. Just as Halloween had 1 restricted spell books, it is possible that another event has them. I don't want to assume there is an issue before I have actually ascertained all the facts.
hoping someone just added wrong somewhere and there still will be minimum 15 green books rewarded from each brilliant event week ... otherwise, to nerf intentionally that reward would be daring folks to quit HPWU. wait, releasing bug infested updates already accomplishes that, so no need to nerf the rewards system on top of all that!
@ChelseaDagger13 @Rendlik
just added minor rant/analysis

discussing alternate paths along professor skill tree because of the 14, not 15, green books available in this week 1
Thanks @kiheikid, good overview of the options we have available after this week's event.
Looks to me we're in this position because we spent the 1 Green book from Halloween. Personally I'm gonna hold off on spending these 14 books because I'm still hoping that they'll award the missing one later this month.
@HPWUTeam this is really frustrating! There are loads of Aurors celebrating that they just completed their green book skills and we're sitting here with 14 RSB when we really needed an even 15.
@ChelseaDagger13 - that other argument about profs already spending a green book from Halloween might hold water if we all had been given advanced notice of what the november events schedule, AND green spell books rewards schedule for those november events, would look like ... so that we could budget and spend green spell books accordingly between october and november. BUT no such advanced notice was provided, so many of us blindly spent what we spent in october without a clue that we were about to be short-changed on green spell books in november. @HPWUTeam , are you hearing our frustration ? (not exactly smiling ... more like grinning with teeth clenched)
Yes that was precisely my issue with the Halloween book! At the time it felt like an extra book, so many of us spent it.
We had no way of knowing that we should have held on to it. Really, really annoying.
Having a miniature event whose "reward" is in fact not a reward, but an *advance on the normally-given reward for the next full event* is poor form. It's like a parent buying a "gift" for their kid and then telling them later that the cost of the gift is coming out of their allowance.
Also, you're shorting people who are participating in a full event 1 book from the normal expected value, when this event's reward structure is clearly meant to get people to bug friends who aren't players yet to join. What an introduction!
Having just 14 books as this event half's reward (and the usual 15 the next week) really does hurt!
As others have already said, I also thought that the Halloween event single book was an extra/bonus reward that was meant to help us upgrade one of the four-book-a-node charms or hexes, since many of us would have had three books left at that point and not had the charms/hexes fully upgraded. I had three books left over, assumed that we'd get the usual 15+15 from the next event, and was happy at the time precisely because this let me upgrade the proficiency charm one more time.
And then I went ahead planning eagerly what I'd do with the next event's books - as a professor, I still needed about 117 green books at that point (I still have seven 15 book nodes to buy + some more upgrades but those are not important for me any longer) and was really looking forward to finally unlocking Strength in Numbers the first event week and Restricted Section the next. Now I can't buy anything for this week's rewards, and will only be able to get one 15 book skill the next week.
I realise that in the long run, we'll get there anyway. But we're already having to wait for months longer than Magizoologists and Aurors to get all the green book skills we need, and unless we get some more "bonus" (which aren't really bonus, as it turns out) books between the Brilliant events, it might mean having to wait yet another month to get that skill tree upgrade...
I do wish we'd known that the Halloween book was (apparently) not meant to be a nice bonus and a way to use up the three leftover books, since as a mostly solo player, I wouldn't have bothered with that proficiency charm upgrade then. Too late now, of course.
The change in Restricted books does feel like a slight. When they make so many of the professors skills a cost of 15 books but then only provide for 14. This really is a slap in the face. Shame on them for offering a "bonus" that really was a prepaid item for the next event. If that was the intention then you should publish this ahead of time so people can plan accordingly.
Out of curiosity, has it been stated anywhere that the 1 RSB from Halloween was somehow connected to the November brilliant event giving 14 books? I've seen that repeated a lot, I'm wondering if that's official or speculation.
It's like they have a meeting before every event and discuss how to make life difficult for professors.
Congratulations you managed to do it again!
Timeline of HPWU from a Professor's POV:
As a professor, I have no problem with this. It seems like there's going to be the odd RSB coming from other sources here and there, so maybe people will have to wait an extra few weeks for one of those late tree upgrades, but it's not that big of a deal.
I would be quite happy to see a shift in balance to a few fewer RSBs and a few more regular spell books amongst these bonus rewards. Let's remember those Aurors and Magis boasting about finishing their RSB requirements well ahead of us have a lot more spell books to collect than we do, and most of us profs will likely find regular spellbooks are more of a barrier than RSBs before long. How much fun are these Brilliant events going to be if people start seeing RSBs like we now see scrolls?
Full disclosure though, it's easier for me to say this when I have never got the full 15 RSBs from a Brilliant event before. I can't open portkeys and this is the first event without open X portkeys tasks, so 14 is going to feel like an absolute haul for me.
@KingZog I noticed the lack of portkey requirements, which is great for the players like you to actually finish the event! Enjoy! The portkey issue is still an issue, but that's another thread!
