Didn't want communication issues preventing players from enjoying this collaboration with their local library.

It's Luna, Neville but especially Hermione. I just wish I worked in a building that also housed a library. (Oh wait, I do!)
so is it any library anywhere in the world or just the ones that are marked on that IGW participation map?

Interesting. When I look at that map on the linked site, the university library shows up, so I suppose i could walk over during lunch and check it out. Maybe it will stay above freezing next week...🤞

Sigh. No participating libraries in my entire country. I hope WU is using Ingress data and not the IGW data... There might be a chance then. I want to see more Hermiones!

Thanks for the confirmation. Guess it saves me trekking round in the heat tomorrow. Between these sorts of things and the lack of sponsored fortresses, it puts a dampener on the game.
On the plus side, we get far more POIs than in the UK and places, as every shrine and temple is considered one.
I checked the map and no nearby libraries are on the list. Will these spawns occur at any library or only IGW?
@Minervina19 I can't say for certain but I imagine it would be hard for them to try to link up the pins from the registration from the third party to their POIs. My guess would be that they find keywords of the POI and/or use Google Maps backend of knowing where things are that are categorized as libraries. In the event of keywords being used, those that have POIs that match up with https://littlefreelibrary.org/ may find that those locations also are spawning those legends of Hogwarts foundables. It can't hurt to visit your local library and check. 😉
The libraries on the map are very random. Our state library doesn't even make the cut.

The libraries on the IGW map are libraries that put their own information in regarding games that week. Your library may or may not be participating by hosting games at certain times of the week, best to check with them.
It would not necessarily be hard for Niantic to link to a third party set of points of interest. They have done similar things with sponsored locations. But my gut tells me they will use the libraries from Open Street Map which, as I understand it and correct me if I'm wrong, are the set of points used for the 9 ¾ landmarks.

A huge country like India and not a single library is on the IGW map? No fair.
I think it might be all POIs on the map that are for libraries and not just the IGW libraries, since I’ve got Harmione three times near a library not on the IGW map.
Hopefully we can get a confirmation from the HPWU team as well though.
My library is not on the list, but it is definitely included in this event. Lots of Hermione and other traces listed are spawning there.
I've been to 6 libraries on the list and only 1 had spawns. Getting very frustrated.
i have visited two libraries on the list/map but with horrible resorts
yesterday i stayed 30 minutes at first library on the list and saw only 2 spawns the whole time, one young graphorn (magizoology) and one hag (dark arts) - ie none of the 7 listed foundables supposed to be featured in the library event
today i stayed first 60 minutes at second library, and then popped a tonic for trace detection for an additional 30 minutes, again with mostly unimpressive traces - i did get a single luna lovegood but that had a purple aura around it and therefore was called by the tonic and not otherwise there for the library event
very disappointed (and other adjectives that would earn me a warning or worse if spelled out)
double-checked and both libraries are on the list/map, so what is (not) going on ?!?!
I am very confused about this event. The closest library on the IGW map to me is over 2 hours away, so I went to the library near my house and didn’t see any of the listed spawns at all. I was there for about 20 minutes and only saw the usual common spawns I see everywhere. I see that a lot of others are having no luck at finding the spawns we were hoping for. I will be trying another library tomorrow but it seems hopeless at this point. 🤷♀️
can anyone here confirm that this library event is actually working correctly, ie increasing spawns of Hermione, Neville, Luna, etc. at public libraries ??
@kiheikid my local library which is a POI in game greenhouse (but not listed on linked library list) did not have anything special. Just down the road is a 9 3/4 flagged area.
Boggart Hermoine there in abundance. 7/11.
I gave seen Neville and Luna much more frequently in regular game play.
Friday I hope to check another library. It's got a big pond that is a CoMC flag so not sure of that one. Also not a drivable area. Below freezing so not walking outside!
@Owlx @kiheikid people were finding things even at Libraries not listed early in the event. I'm thinking the event spawns must have gotten turned off as party of something else. Maybe when they took away the new legend of Hogwarts page.
@HPWULola can you shed any light as to what happened with this event?
Some indication of how POI qualify as libraries could be useful. Is it from the Google Maps listing ? Is it from the POI description ? The second largest library in this city apparently didn't qualify, from the lack of results on my last playing days. The description, however, does not use the French for Library, "bibliothèque", but "médiathèque", so if the selection was based on particular words, it may explain why it wasn't spawning the proper traces. Could also be that France doesn't seem to participate in the event in general.

curiously, certain libraries are identifed in the map with a blue circle around the library icon while other libraries appear as the library icon only (without the surrounding blue circle). i wonder whether the blue circle means “participating”.
also curiously, the map identifies two separate places in my hamlet as the local “public library”. the correct place, where i spent yesterday without any luck, has the library icon but no blue circle. the incorrect place, which is the local elementary school’s library for its students but off-limits to the general public, has the library icon with the blue circle. so if the blue circle is key, i will have to go into town (about 45 minutes away) for that public library which does have a blue circle surrounding the library icon and no air conditioning.
My local library wasn't on the list, however we had increased spawns of the listed. I did place Hermione and half of Neville. Already had Luna so I opted out on several of her.
it is TOUGH finding the right library
today, i went to a third public library on the map, with a blue circle surrounding the library icon, but no luck at all for 20+ minutes, because the library was also across the street from a school (hogwarts 9&3/4 flag/nest).
then went back to the very first public library i tried, with a blue circle surrounding the library icon, and this time, jackpot.
captured hermione 5/11 through 11/11
total cost: one hour of time + 7 dawdle draughts (now need to find some valerian root desperately) + 5 strong exstimulo potions (thank goodness for the potion carryover)
why oh why wasn’t albus dumbledore part of the library event ?!
