You can definitely keep them around! There's no harm on doing that since there's no limit in space for runes. Plus it can be helpful for future events. Thankfully the runes work with whatever brilliant event is currently active, so if you happen to still have any runes from way older brilliant events, they'll give you prizes of the current event without a problem :)
A player I know has 140 of them that I recall correctly. It's been super helpful for him with this event since he's been super busy and hasn't been able to play :)
@JulieJubz Are you sure about that? I’m pretty sure when I used runes from past brilliant events I received fragments from past brilliant events. I think they are linked to that registry page.
@MrSciGuy Lola actually talked about it recently. The runestones work with whatever brilliant event is currently going on, but the portkeys do not. I'll try and see if I can find the post she mentioned it on so we can know for sure! :) BRB lol.
I guess she only talks about the part one and part two of the same event. But as I mentioned, I know someone with more than 140 event runestones and he hasn't reported any problems with them during other events.
If anyone does have runes from the past even (not part one of this one), it would be interesting to know if they've had any problems with it. But since I've never seen a post about it here in the forum, I think it's pretty safe!
@JulieJubz - if one carefully looks at brilliant runestones in one’s vault, one will see that they have names for the specific brilliant event that they work for, such as the current “fighting forces”, or the previous “back to hogwarts” or “potter’s calamity” or “fantastic flora & fauna”
except for “fantastic flora & fauna”, these brilliant events have two parts over two non-consecutive weeks. the particular brilliant runestone can be used at any time, but is meant to possibly (sadly, no guaranty) return the brilliant event fragment featured in week 1 if used before week 2, or the brilliant event fragment featured in week 2 if used during week 2.
although i have read various guides saying that using such brilliant runestone after the end of week 2 could possibly return the brilliant event fragment featured in either week 1 or week 2 of such brilliant event, sadly that has NOT been my experience.
as stated elsewhere, i used up my old back to hogwarts brilliant runestones during all of september and continuing into the bonus portion of week 2 of this month’s (october) fighting forces brilliant event, but every one of those runestones returned - in addition to challenge xp and a challenge fragment - the trolley witch (if any brilliant fragment at all) featured for week 1 of the back to hogwarts brilliant event instead of the hogwarts boat featured for week 2 of such brilliant event. and i know that most of those leftover brilliant runestones used since september were earned during week 2 gameplay for that event.
@kiheikid yeah I’ve gotten trolley witches this past week during this current event with those old runestones as well. That’s why I was surprised when @JulieJubz said that. I’m curious what other people’s experiences have been.
I burn through them really fast on solo fortress runs trying to get challenge fragments that I need to prestige a page. You won't get the random family fundable, but they are great to go through quickly and no loss. As mentioned before, you can also still get brilliant XP that level up and get more scrolls and runestones.

hope that clarifies for you all.

Interesting, from what I understood, they worked for any event. But I guess I stand corrected :)
I do like @Applify, and I burn through mine quickly, but that's mainly because I'm using them to help with the fortress achievement.
